As your reading this I am currently sitting on the beach (drink in hand, obviously) and enjoying the sandy beach in the Bahamas. I will be spending the week in the Caribbean with Mackenzie for a girls trip! We will be soaking up the sun, swimming with dolphins and boating to St. Barth’s. My goal for this trip was to pack for eight days in my new carry on suitcase and it was a complete success.

Be sure to follow me on Instagram (@adashofdetails) and Snapchat to see behind the scenes shenanigans from our trip.

And it’s Friday…whew, this week was a doozy guys! Between working long nights, keeping on my work out schedule and preparing for my trip (so excited, we leave on Sunday!), I am so excited for the weekend.  Not to mention, Dallas is supposed to be 75 degrees on Saturday.  I will be spending as much time outside with Molly,  Zoey and my hubs (if you don’t know already they are our sweet goldendoodles that blow up my Instagram feed and Snapchat).  Being gone for a full week has me like… the extremely happy emojii, but making sure everything is in order before I leave has me reaching for a margarita tonight.  Thankfully, Mackenzie and Will are coming over for a Mexican fiesta tonight.

Also, can we talk about this outfit? I am in some form of this outfit every weekend.  Stripes, my favorite skinny jeans and a little cashmere.  Pretty much perfection in my mind.  What is your ideal weekend casual look?

Happy Friday!

It’s finally business as usual around here.

We have almost made it through the first month of the year and I have one word to explain it: WHIRLWIND. Between moving, a few trips and trying to stay on top of my goals for the year, I will be welcoming February with open arms.

Minus a few hiccups here and there, most of my resolutions are still in tact.  I have been working out 5 times a week, eating healthy (minus a cheeseburger or two) and starting each day on a positive note. I talked about it here, but one of my goals this year is to get dressed every day (and by dressed, I mean getting out of my lulu pants from my morning workout). Keeping my style easy is the key to my success.  Think: jeans, a plain tee and a third piece to finish the look.  Have you ever heard about the third piece rule? My girlfriend worked at J.Crew during college. When she was working the floor, she was always advised to add a third piece to her outfit.  I am talking a belt, cardigan, jacket or scarf to add to her look.  Whatever she chose, she instantly looked so put together. Since then, I have taken their advice and followed the third piece rule.  It adds an unexpected element to an ordinary outfit.  Today,  my third piece was my new blazer.  Whether you work from home, like I do, or in a corporate environment, owning a blazer is a must-have wardrobe staple in any girls closet. To keep the look casual and cool, pair your black jacket with boyfriend jeans and a simple tee or throw it on over a mini dress with over the knee boots. If you work in the corporate world, I would pair it with a patterned pencil skirt and a great pair of pumps.

What is your go-to third piece?
