It’s been while since my last life update.
This summer was a complete whirlwind. It started with our wedding in Scottsdale, honeymoon in Costa Rica (stay tuned next week for a full recap, finally), camping in Colorado, a baby shower in Kansas City, surprise birthday celebrations in West Palm Beach, a month long trip to New York and a weekend with friends in Nantucket. It honestly has been a complete dream and I feel pretty lucky that we have been able to live up our first year of marriage. Patrick and I decided we would travel as much as possible while we can, because we know one day these spontaneous trips will be more difficult to plan. As summer comes to a close, our travel plans are finally slowing down. For the first time since Mary, we spent an entire week at home. I woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to start the week off on a good foot.
October is one of my favorite months. The weather has cooled down, I started pulling out my sweaters and pushed my dresses to the back of my closet, and football games make for built-in fun for Saturday afternoons. Also, I have had a major itch to get shopping for the new season.
If you don’t know by now, I am a total coffee addict. I hate to admit this because when I was younger I swore I would never be a coffee drinker. Its the kind where I get a headache later in the day if I don’t get my daily dose. Anyone else? Thankfully, Nespresso sent over its limited edition Tribute to Milano and Palermo Grand Crus to get me through the week. If you are in the Dallas area, be sure to stop by the boutique at NorthPark to try the new flavors.
Lately I have been completely home decor-obsessed. I have avoided buying anything for our current house since it is just a rental. I started down the deep, dark hole that is One King Lane and I may or may not have scooped up this bar cart (perfect for holiday parties) and this art for over our bed. #oops.
I can’t believe I am saying this but I have been starting to think about the holidays. My goal this year is to be on top of Christmas gifts and Holiday Cards. If you are really prepared head over to Minted to order your cards for 20% off today only (use the code PREVIEW2015). Also, would you guys like to see a holiday gift guide again this year?

I walked outside to a crisp feeling in the air. There is something special about October. Here in Dallas it is the first time the temperatures start to cool down, watching football games are a must on Saturdays, and the feeling that summer is over. If you have been following me on Instagram, you probably have noticed our travel schedule. Since our wedding in April, we have not stopped moving…that is until now. October is my month to slow down and get back on a regular routine. I have signed up for my normal Studio Hop classes, made my first trip to the grocery store in a long time, and have plans to organize our house and this blog in the upcoming weeks. As much as I love travel; its nice to be home. Does anyone have similar feelings?
With the shift in the weather, I am craving a change in my wardrobe. The older I get, the more simple my wardrobe becomes. Easy and quality have become the major factors when searching for new items for the changing season. I am constantly reaching for a classic button down in the fall. It is the perfect top to be tucked into high waisted jeans, boyfriend jeans or leggings while looking pulled together.

Do you know what happens when you spend about a month in New York City? Well, you are about to find out.
I spent 3 weeks in the city that never sleeps this month (hence the radio silence) and experienced it like never before thanks to two weddings and my favorite city expert, Mackenzie. My month in New York started with a wedding just outside the city, but a quick stop to Shake Shack and a stroll through SoHo were a must.
The next week, Mackenzie and I jetted back to the city for a week full of fashion, food and all of her favorite local spots. We walked everywhere, took a pedi-cab from Midtown to Chelsea (I hope you saw our Snapchats!), and ate our way through the city. I had the best time and I am so lucky to have a new friend to share these memories with! Stay tuned for our next adventure, Nantucket.
The following weekend, Patrick and I headed back to the city for a friend’s wedding. We stayed in Tribeca, which was a first for us. I loved being so close to the water and spending time with great friends in the city.
Here is my mini-guide to Manhattan:

Where to Eat

Momoya (must order: crispy rice with spicy tuna)
Gallow Green (a hidden garden rooftop bar)
