THE MIA STORY

You may have noticed I took a little unexpected break from the blog for the last two weeks. This was never my intention and I had this weird guilt as the days went by and I didn’t post anything. The real story was that my day job took us on quite the interesting adventure. Many of you probably don’t know what I do, so here’s the quick story.  I’ll  be back Monday with regular content and some exciting news!

Two Thursdays ago, my fiancé and I hopped on a plane and headed to Scottsdale for a quick weekend getaway (or so we thought) to celebrate my birthday. We had a great weekend and then got news we would be working on a quick 5 day project in a small town in Mississippi. So if you don’t know, Patrick and I work together for an oil and gas company, a job I absolutely love and everyday am grateful to have found something that I like to do and also have the flexibility to work from home, blog, and still have a life.

We arrived is Mississippi 2 Sundays ago, for what we thought would be a quick and painless trip with a few pitstops to Oxford and New Orleans on the way home, but we were SOO wrong. We worked until midnight every night and on top of everything we had no internet the entire time (hence no blogging). After a few long nights, the project was extended an entire week.  More work, late nights and few pieces of fried chicken later, we finally completed our project and made it to New Orleans for a night and then back to Dallas for the weekend, just in time for my bestie to come visit me. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to see our shenanigans around town.  Let’s just say August turned into quite the whirlwind.

I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM (OR GELATO)

HaagenDazs_IMG_7813 HaagenDazs_IMG_7696 HaagenDazs_IMG_7701 HaagenDazs_IMG_7725 HaagenDazs_IMG_7732 HaagenDazs_IMG_7781 HaagenDazs_IMG_7816 HaagenDazs_IMG_7770 HaagenDazs_IMG_7820

We all have a guilty pleasure, and for me it’s ice cream, gelato, or  sorbet.  I am not much of a candy or baked goods fan, but give me a scoop of  ice cream and I am in heaven. It is definitely a special treat when I have ice cream (since I am supposed to stay away from dairy) but I can never let this special treat go.  Like most, ice cream coincide with so many of my good childhood memories, but one in particular was just a few years ago when I lived in Italy. We lived in a small town north of Venice and made nightly stops at the neighborhood Gelateria for a scoop or two of Straccciatella, Strawberry, or my favorite, Pistachio.  We found our favorite spots when traveling and mine was on the Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence (seriously it was Heaven on Earth). So, when Haagen Dazs reached out to me and asked if I would try their new Gelato flavors I immediately jumped at the opportunity.  Patrick and I decided to splurge with an afternoon treat and tried 3 of the new Haagen Dazs gelato flavors in between some homemade sugar cookies. My favorite was the Pomegranate Swirl and his was the classic Stracciatella.  It brought us right back to Italy!

BEAUTY DETAILS

RevitaLash

With my upcoming nuptials, I have really been trying to step up my beauty game.  I am a total creature of habit when it comes to skincare and makeup.  I started using Tata Harpers Regenerating Cleanser and the Rebuilding Moisturizer back in December, and I can’t imagine using anything else on my face.  I finally caved and bought a Clarisonic last year, but other than that my regimen is pretty minimal. I have been wanting to try a eyelash conditioner for sometime now, but I wasn’t sure if it would actually work. That is, until I saw my momma last month and noticed her eyelashes were soooo long (she thinks they doubled in length).  Thanks to my parents for listening to my “hints,” they sent me a bottle of RevitaLash to try for my birthday.  Per my fiance, his one request for the wedding is that I do not wear any fake eyelashes (it’s a long story for another time), so hopefully this RevitaLash keeps my eyelashes looking long and healthy. After doing some research, I should notice a difference within the first 3 months….so keep your fingers crossed for me. Do you have any beauty products you swear by, please share with my in the comments section.
