Growing up in the South, I didn’t know it was actually possible for temperatures to drop below freezing. Yes, I used to think 32 degrees was as cold as it could get.  So when I looked at my phone this morning, -12 degrees was a bit shocking to say the least. I am slowly learning these cold temperatures are not going away anytime soon, hence trips to warmer weather are already on the books for the next few months. While we are headed to warmer temps on the weekends, I am still stuck in the cold during the week. So to make it a little more bearable, I am slowly filling my closet with a few  cold-weather essentials.  Hats, gloves, snow boots, and my long down coat may not be the most fashionable, but they sure are keeping me warm. I have found that layering and keeping it simple are my best friends.

My winter style has consisted of lots of basics. Since I wear jeans or J.Crew Minnie Pants to work almost everyday, I have been layering up my basic tees and sweaters with a fun statement necklace. If its a good day, I will even change out my snow boots for a cute pair of heels.

Stay tuned for tomorrow, someone special is making a guest appearance on the blog with his cold- weather essentials.  :)

You are smart to have invested in a pair of Sorel boots! I often wear them on my way to work and then change into my cute pair of shoes once I get inside. No sense fighting the cold weather!
