6 Things I Love

This year has been off to such a great start, and February is no different.  I was able to spend the first weekend of the “month of love” with Patrick (it had been almost a month!) and do a few of my favorite things that I will be sharing early this week.

I don’t know about any of you but I am super excited for the Superbowl. Well, really just the commercials and Beyonce, but I have a feeling I am not alone on this topic.  I normally host a Superbowl party every year and make a spread of all of my favorite snacks, but we are still waiting on our couch to arrive, so I decided to skip this year.  Another Feb favorite of mine is the Oscar Red Carpet. I mean, who can resist listening to Joan Rivers bag on the most beautiful people in the world and awing over the perfectly selected jewels.

But, who can forget the most loved/ hated holiday of the year..  There are so many opinions about Valentine’s Day, but I have personally always loved it even when I was single.  My parents always made Valentine’s day such a special day when I was growing up.  Most years it was heart patterned socks from my mom and flowers from my dad, they always knew how to make me feel especially loved on this day. The tradition has continued, but Patrick has taken over the duty of embarrassing me at work with flowers (even though I secretly love it).

Any who, now that I have rambled on for what seems like forever.  What is your favorite thing about February?  Sports, lots of kisses (maybe even chocolate), the Oscars, the new Spring lines… and the list goes on.

THINGS I LOVE

December may be one of my favorite months of the year, not because of the gifts, but because of all the holiday cheer.  I love driving around seeing all of the lights and trees in people’s homes and drinking hot cocoa by the fire (well, normally but it has been 70 degrees these past couple days). In order to stay on top of my gift giving this year, I decided to make my lists and check them twice and, of course, make a few gift guides for all of you lovelies to read and share. This week, I will be sharing all of the essentials- For Her, For Him, For the Boss, The Best friend, and a few more! Hopefully, this will help me and you with the dreaded-waiting-until- the- last- minute- shopping-trips on December 21st. I am totally guilty of this every year!

So without further adeau, here are a few of my favorite things about the month of December:

Perfect party dresses / Peppermint Bark and Hot Toddys / Pretty Wrapping Paper / PJ Sets from J Crew / The first snowfall of the year / Making List and Setting Goals (maybe with this darling planner from Design Darling

Happy November or No Shave November or Movember (most guys favorite month…an excuse not to shave). One of my favorite things about November is Thanksgiving. Our family gets together at the Ranch outside of Austin and the trip always involves lots of great wine and lots of laughs. All the girls always go shopping on Black Friday (best shopping day ever!) What is your favorite thing about November?

Cashmere Snood / Election Cookies / Austin Postcard / Viva Las Vegas Vacation / Movember / Sandy Red Cross

October

Happy October! Not only is it starting to finally cool down in Kansas City, I have declared the month of October boot season! There is something about the leaves changing colors that puts me in the best mood. Maybe because I am not originally from the Midwest, but I am always pleasantly surprised every October when the trees turn a beautiful yellow and orange.

What are your favorite things about October?  Halloween, Sweater Weather, or pumpkin-spiced anything?

6 Things I Love

Two things that come to mind when I think about September; Football and Fashion.  A strange combination but two things I absolutely love.  Not only is Fashion’s Night Out this week but the first win by my good ‘ol Jayhawks started this week out right.  Today, Labor Day, was another reason why I love September.  What are your favorite things about this month?

A few of my favorite things:

1. The September Issues- Picked up a few at the airport this weekend, ready to dive in.

2. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week- Can’t wait for the street style, my favorite part.

3. Fashion’s Night Out- Heading to the Hall’s for a night of shopping and sweet treats!

4. The Plaza Art Fair- Best time of the year in Kansas City.

5. Oyster Season- Yes, Please.

6. College Football- Are you ready for some tailgating?

6 Things I Love- July

“Better late than never” has unfortunately been my new saying lately after missing a few friends birthdays, happy hours, and just saying hello to my favorite people.  The first week of this month has been a whirlwind and I feel like I am finally getting back on track.

Even though a few of these have already past, they are things I absolutely love about this month and what makes July so special for me.

Pool days are the best in July because the water is warm enough to dive right in // national ice cream day may be my favorite made up holiday of all time (I even had the real deal on Sunday instead of the typical frozen yogurt) // Theater in the park is a Kansas City classic during the summer months // my favorite holiday- i love fireworks and red, white and blue // backyard barbecues with friends, especially when we grill hot dogs // of course, summer sales are the best- who can resist 70% off.

6 Things- June

Wow! This year is flying by and I cannot believe it is already June!  Sorry I missed this on the first, but I had my biggest event all year at the end of last week.  Thankfully the weather was wonderful and everything was a success.  June is probably my favorite month in Kansas City, it’s warm but not quite as humid as it is in August.

6 Things I Love about June

I love seeing all of the wedding parties taking pictures outside Country Club Church on my way home on Saturdays, getting pool ready for the first day of summer, celebrating Father’s Day with my awesome daddio, eating Cherry ice cream on the porch (that I wish I had right now…), a time to get all dolled up for Jewel Ball and wishing I was in London celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with the Royal Family.

6 Things- May

Happy May Day! I can’t believe May is already here! I hope this month brings lots of sunshine and beautiful flowers.  There are so many wonderful things about the month of may especially the fun holidays, like Mother’s Day and Cinco De Mayo.

I picked up a few of my favorite flowers at Trader Joes yesterday, watched the pool fill up at the club and I cannot wait to dive in (it opens on Friday and I couldn’t be more excited), ready to celebrate some of my favorites birthday (including my little brother’s 8th birthday with a trip to Disneyland), send my love to Arizona for Mother’s Day- I wish I could be there to tell her how much I love her, and of course travel down to the City Market for some fresh produce at the River Market Farmer’s Market (Inga and I are going this weekend bright and early!).
