Is your closet ready for Fall?  This week I headed to TJ Maxx in search for some great Fall finds to stock up on this season’s essentials.  This fall, I am all about finding classic pieces that I can wear multiple different ways. Whether it be a lush leather jacket, designer brand handbags, classic trench or super soft cashmere cardigan, nothing gets better than finding investment pieces at affordable prices.  TJ Maxx has been killing it with their selection of brand-name designers throughout the entire store. I browsed through the store twice filling an entire cart of clothes- yes, I had an entire cart full of goodies, I ended up with so many great designer finds. I scored this Cashmere cardigan, yes 100 percent cashmere, for just a fraction of the price. It is so soft and the perfect layer for Fall, I especially love the light grey color. If you haven’t noticed I am on a total neutral kick. My best accessory when wearing neutrals is red lipstick. Did you know that TJ Maxx has some of the top beauty brands? I even found my shampoo/conditioner and lotion brand in the aisles for just a fraction of the price.

There is something about a piece of clothing that you can wear from day to night that really makes it worth the investment, but instead of breaking the bank, I ended up spending a fraction of the price for the same designer quality.  My Fall daytime look includes a pair of jeans, a super-soft tee, and loafers or flats.  My favorite flats this Fall are smoking slippers, I went with a classic color so I could pair them with black denim, coated denim or a pair of skinny ankle jeans.

For date night or dinner during a Fall night, I like to bring a light cardigan so we can sit outside under the heaters or by a fire.  Pairing this cashmere cardi with a pair of black leggings and booties keeps this looks casual and cool.  Add some dainty gold jewelry, and a great designer handbag- yes I found this one at TJ Maxx, to make the look complete.  Can we talk about this purse? The leather is like butter and the size is the perfect carryall.

Apparently Fall is the new wedding season, this Fall I will be attending six weddings in just three months. Black, tan, and grey are my go to’s for dresses. Since some of the weddings will be outside, bringing a cardigan is essential.  I also found these pointed- toe sandals when I was shopping the other day. I love how the two-toned shoes look with a basic black dress.  I also added a gold and enamel bracelet that I scored for only $20! It normally retails for over $100, talk about a steal!

Expressing yourself through fashion, and knowing how to put together a great look—at great value, is what being a Maxxinista is all about.  At T.J.Maxx you can score the unexpected to make your own personal style statement. Here’s to rockin’ your real deal.

Well guess what? We are back at it and off again. This time we are jetting off to Kansas City for the Plaza Art Fair Weekend.  It is my favorite event in Kansas City and I knew I would not miss it this year just because I moved away.  For many of you who have never been to Kansas City or even the midwest, the Art Fair is the best weekend of the year! Not only are there 15 blocks full of local and national artists booths, but some of the best food and drinks you will ever have. Lets talk about a highlight from last year, a free Chocolate Bag from McCormick and Schmicks, thanks to a little sweet talk with one of my girlfriends. This is the first time I am headed back to Kansas City after the big move and I could not be more excited to see all my girlies. I am sure there is going to be too much fun (nah… there is no such thing as too much fun) to be had.

The weather is supposed to be absolutely beautiful for the weekend, so I am going to enjoy wearing a few of my new fall favorites. Since we will be out and about all day/night- I am going to bring my new leather jacket and these heels to dress up my daytime look.  I decided to stick with neutrals when I made my packing list because really you can never go wrong with some good black and white.  Oh, and I am sure I will be doing lots of shopping, since I have been on a freeze for the last 2 months.

Happy Weekend, Loves! I don’t know about you but the temps have dropped in my neck of the woods and I put on my boots and sweater this morning (total football weather), while I am not sure if I can kiss summer goodbye, it was nice to put on one of my J Crew favorites.

So, this weekend has been very low key because of one reason. I may or may not have booked a flight to Dallas for the wrong weekend and was planning to head out Friday morning. Thankfully, my trusty bestie informed me of my error and I immediately changed my flight. Five hundred dollars later meant we were staying put this weekend, so we decided to enjoy the outdoors and watch (still watching) a lot of football- I guess that is what happens when you live with a boy. Since there is still an entire day ahead of you before the ever so exciting work week ahead, I know I will be enjoying my back deck reading my new book (I am so excited about this, you do not even know!), playing with the pups, and I am sure watching a little football.

Happy Weekend, Y’all!

After my alarm gave me quite the wake up call this morning at 6:30am and a few hits of the snooze button later, Monday hit me like a hurricane and I am throwing myself a pity party today. Sometimes you just need a good pity party, right? I feel like I have a vacation hangover, ya know that feeling of complete exhaustion and missing all of the fun you had the day before. Mine normally hits after I go through security at the airport, but this time may have been amplified by the fact we were completely unplugged the entire trip (yes, no cell service or wi-fi). This probably was the best thing, since I didn’t have a chance to feel like I missed out on all of the fun happening in New York this weekend.  Thanks to Instagram, Pinterest, all of the street style photogs, and texts from friends; I caught up on all of the action last night.

Not quite as glamourous as the girls at Fashion Week, but I loved sporting my cowboy boots and cutoffs all weekend.

Happy Labor Day! I hope ya’ll are enjoying the last few hours of sunshine wherever you may be. I just got back from an amazing trip to Canada. Highlights of the trip included riding bikes around Toronto Island and finding secret spots to catch a little sun, eating our way through the city- this may be an understatement, a little shopping on Bloor Street, and having a late romantic dinner at Sotto Sotto (where we sat next to Drake and his date). I had the gnocchi, which reminded me of being in Italy and the Pino Nior was even better. It was a great way to end the weekend, and going back to work after a long weekend is always tough, but it is another short week for me and I am looking forward to Thursday!

Is anyone else having a bitter sweet moment today? While I am excited for the long weekend, I am not sure if I am ready to say so long to summer and my flip flops.  So much has changed this summer and it was definitely one for the books. This summer marked my quarter-of-a-century birthday, a new career, and a new city. Being a 20 something definitely has had its obstacles, ya know, like figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life, or feeling like there is some sort of rule book for how life is supposed to be.

One of my girlfriends recently sent me a quote that really caught my attention. “There is nothing wrong with being typical but there is nothing fundamentally right with it either” (Bob Goff- Love Does). Honestly sometimes I get caught up in what everyone else is doing instead of doing what I feel is the right way to live, or the right thing to do, because let’s be honest does anyone even know the answer.  So as the summer winds down, my goal is to focus on acheieving greatness-in my own mind. I am going to be working on some fun projects, but I want to hear from you! Is there anything more/ different you would like to see here? Like more outfits, recipes, or a little inside into my daily life?  I would love the input, because you guys are the reason I love to write this blog!

Since I moved we have been trying to do alot of exploring in the areas near our little town.  This weekend we drove over to Columbus and Cleveland and found some really fun areas with great food. On Saturday we enjoyed the afternoon sitting by the water, stopping into the West Side Market and playing around on the lawn of the Cleveland Museum of Art (it closed a few minutes before we pulled up- the perfect excuse to go back). The weather was perfect so we put the top down on the Jeep. I love the wind in my hair, except of the giant knots it created- let’s just say I was not having the best of hair days after our trip. Next on the list are Niagra Falls and Washington DC.

Happy Friday! This week just flew by and I am definitely not complaining!  I do not tell you guys enough but I wanted to say thank you so much for reading every week, you are the reason I keep blogging. Every comment, email, tweet, you name it makes everyday just a little better and brighter and gives me a reason to do what I love! So keep them coming! Honestly, this blog and your comments are helping me get through this transition in a new town and hardly knowing anyone.  If there are any Columbus, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh bloggers out there, I would love to hear from you.  We live pretty much in the middle of all of these cities (in a really small town), so I would love to meet up. Does anyone else think this sounds like the kid in kindergarten that asked, “can we be friends,” but I figure I have nothing to lose.

Congrats to Rebeccca Woodcock of Darling Cashmere for winning a pair of John Ruvin frames of your choice.  You will be receiving an email shortly.  For the rest of you, thank you so much for entering the giveaway.  John Ruvin is having 30% off all of their summer sunglasses, just use the code SUNWEAR30 at the checkout.

Can we talk about how good this is?  Have you heard of Baldwin yet? If not, you most likely will soon because this Kansas City based company is making major headway in the fashion world. Personally, they are doing everything the right way. You can find their jeans on Shopbop or if you live in Kansas City, they are opening up a store on the Plaza next month! A few months ago I talked about my favorite boyfriend jeans and since then I have purchased these, these, and these. They are seriously my favorite. Today they released their Fall collection and my wallet is going to be in some serious trouble.  I love love the light wash denim, and am definitely going to need a pair of the Andi in Camo.

I am not sure what happened- I normally am wishing for summer to last forever (an Arizona girl at heart), but I am ready for Fall.  Maybe it is because I am obsessed with these booties, like all of them.  Shopbop has the best selection when it comes to shoes, from affordable brands to major investment pieces- it is where I do most of my shopping when it comes to shoes.  Honestly, I like to shop in the stores when it comes to clothes (I like to touch and feel the material), but for shoes, online is the way to go.  Since I am pretty short, I love the look of booties- I try to wear black denim with black booties to elongate my legs and of course, they have to be the perfect height so I do not look shorter than I am.
