As of Lately…Celebrity Filled Weekend

Sorry I have been away since Tuesday! I told you earlier this week that I had a big event at work on Friday and fun weekend ahead of me.  I don’t normally talk about my “real” life job on the blog but this week was a little out of the ordinary. For the last couple months I have been planning a celebrity wiffle ball game with alot of help from some great people. The best part of the weekend was that everyone was there for wonderful cause. All of our hard work payed off and everything went off without a hitch (or at least that is what everyone thought).  From batting practice to the 7th inning stretch, some of Hollywood’s funniest guys enjoyed being kids again.  On Saturday, we were invited to attend the Big Slick Celebrity Party that raised $450,000 for Children’s Mercy of Kansas City. We mingled with some of my favorite celebs and had lots of good laughs. This was a weekend I will never forget.

Little Details: A Jewelry Party

Last night I hosted a jewelry party at my place for one of my girlfriends.  She had fabulous baubles and bracelets and I literally wanted to buy everything on the table. The best part was that everything was under $50! Thankfully I only bought a bracelet and necklace, let’s just say my bank account thanked me later that night. In addition to the wonderful jewels, we had cucumber infused cocktails, lots wine and tiny treats. Hopefully we will do it again soon and would love for some of my “blog friends” to join!

Indulge

There is a French bakery in New Orleans called Cafe du Monde that is famous for their beignets, especially on Fat Tuesday.  Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is the last day to indulge on delicious, rich foods before Ash Wednesday.  Here is the recipe for beignets from the famous French cafe.  Hope you enjoy and have fun today!

Lately

Here are a few snapshots from my lovely week and weekend.  It was so fun catching up with the girls in St. Louis and of course Valentine’s Day on Tuesday.  Hope you have a fabulous start to your week! I know I will be drinking lots of tea and coffee to keep me awake!

Super Bowl Sunday

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! This is one of my favorite days of the year because I have an excuse to eat all of my favorite junk foods and it is about the only day I actually like to watch commercials.  Which commercial was your favorite? Can you believe the Giants won? I personally was rooting for the Patriots (maybe because people say Patrick looks like Tom Brady) so I was a little disappointed but naturally I already got over it :)

The Menu:

  • Barbecue Chicken Pizza
  • Seven Layer Bean Dip with Tortilla Chips
  • French Onion Dip
  • Pigs in a Blanket
  • Red and Blue Cake Pops

All the recipes were extremely simple and I was able to watch all of the pre-game festivities.  Did you have a favorite recipe you tried this year?

Happy Birthday Ashley!

Happy Birthday to my favorite whisper twin, Ashley.  I am so greatful to have met her last year and that she has become such a big part of my life.  We do just about everything together- some say “attached at the hip” or that we just the “royal we”. Either way I like it and I hope you have the most “one”derful birthday yet!

Daily Detail

It’s Restaurant Week here in Kansas City and I am so excited to try some new restaurants and eat at some old favorites.  There are over 100 restaurants on the list, some of which are top restaurants with James Beard Award Winning chefs.  There are 4 things that are so great about this week: 1. Lunch is $15 and Dinner $30- pre set menu at each restaurant. 2. I get to try local restaurant that are not always in my price range :) 3. It is for a good cause- portions of the money raised during the week goes to Harvesters 4.  It’s a good excuse to get together with friends .  I think these are the spots I am going to try this week for lunch and dinner (why not indulge?).
