FALL FINDS FROM DAY TO NIGHT

Is your closet ready for Fall?  This week I headed to TJ Maxx in search for some great Fall finds to stock up on this season’s essentials.  This fall, I am all about finding classic pieces that I can wear multiple different ways. Whether it be a lush leather jacket, designer brand handbags, classic trench or super soft cashmere cardigan, nothing gets better than finding investment pieces at affordable prices.  TJ Maxx has been killing it with their selection of brand-name designers throughout the entire store. I browsed through the store twice filling an entire cart of clothes- yes, I had an entire cart full of goodies, I ended up with so many great designer finds. I scored this Cashmere cardigan, yes 100 percent cashmere, for just a fraction of the price. It is so soft and the perfect layer for Fall, I especially love the light grey color. If you haven’t noticed I am on a total neutral kick. My best accessory when wearing neutrals is red lipstick. Did you know that TJ Maxx has some of the top beauty brands? I even found my shampoo/conditioner and lotion brand in the aisles for just a fraction of the price.

There is something about a piece of clothing that you can wear from day to night that really makes it worth the investment, but instead of breaking the bank, I ended up spending a fraction of the price for the same designer quality.  My Fall daytime look includes a pair of jeans, a super-soft tee, and loafers or flats.  My favorite flats this Fall are smoking slippers, I went with a classic color so I could pair them with black denim, coated denim or a pair of skinny ankle jeans.

For date night or dinner during a Fall night, I like to bring a light cardigan so we can sit outside under the heaters or by a fire.  Pairing this cashmere cardi with a pair of black leggings and booties keeps this looks casual and cool.  Add some dainty gold jewelry, and a great designer handbag- yes I found this one at TJ Maxx, to make the look complete.  Can we talk about this purse? The leather is like butter and the size is the perfect carryall.

Apparently Fall is the new wedding season, this Fall I will be attending six weddings in just three months. Black, tan, and grey are my go to’s for dresses. Since some of the weddings will be outside, bringing a cardigan is essential.  I also found these pointed- toe sandals when I was shopping the other day. I love how the two-toned shoes look with a basic black dress.  I also added a gold and enamel bracelet that I scored for only $20! It normally retails for over $100, talk about a steal!

Expressing yourself through fashion, and knowing how to put together a great look—at great value, is what being a Maxxinista is all about.  At T.J.Maxx you can score the unexpected to make your own personal style statement. Here’s to rockin’ your real deal.

SHOES, SHOES, SHOES

In the last couple weeks, I started a new hobby….something called collecting shoes. This hobby has been known to be quite fun. Honestly, I was really in want/need of some new Fall shoes. When it comes to shoes, I am all about the classics. Flats, booties and heels are my three go to’s for Fall, which is probably the same for most of you (:. I think these four pairs may be my favorite of all time.

Since my work wardrobe is so casual; I can wear jeans everyday of the week if I choose, so I normally wear either my Joie Day Dreaming Loafers, Sam Edelman Booties, or my white Converse sneaks. When the weather cools down, my go to outift is black Minnie pants, a boyfriend style flannel and my new favorite Rag and Bone Newbury Booties that I picked up at Baldwin this past weekend. Another Fall essential is a pair of closed toed heels. I am loving the pointed toe for Fall to elongate my ever so stubby legs. Since I have about 10 weddings before the year is over, I love the neutral color of these BCBGeneration heels that I can wear with a couple of different dresses. What are your favorite Fall shoes this season? I am sure excited about my four new pairs!

STYLE DETAILS

As Fall seems to creep in quickly, I have been looking really closely at the trends this year.  Typically I stick to the classics but I love to add a few notes from the season’s trend to add to my wardrobe.  Menswear is a trend that has been around for a couple of seasons now and is right up my alley.  There are alot of ways to wear this trend the wrong way, but when done right, it looks sophisticated and very chic.  In my opinion, I think it is important to mix a masculine element with a feminine detail. For example if you are going to wear a menswear inspired overcoat, I would wear a mini skirt and red lipstick. The trend is also all about mixing textures; tweed, wool, cashmere, you name it- you can wear it together.  To add a feminie details- I would add a silk button down to the mix. What are your thoughts about this trend?

5 DAYS OF AOS x A DASH OF DETAILS

AOS MYA Military Cargos / J Crew Tilda Oxford (On Sale!) / Kate Spade Bag (old, love the new Beau Bag) / Paul Smith Churchill Sunglasses / Zara Heels (Similar Here) / Daniel Wellington Watch / Stella and Dot Rings

I think most of you know by know I am a total jeans girl. Whether it be selvedge, skinnies, boyfriend, you name it, I love them.  But normally, I tend to stick with the blue denim wash, except for my favorite pair of white and black.  When AOS approached me about styling their new MYA Military Cargos with these 5 awesome bloggers, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try something new.  I am super picky when it comes to pants, and AOS delivered.  Articles of Society (AOS) is a LA based company, with members that previously worked at Hudson, Antik, Theory and Vince, Their focus is on creating premium, designer jeans for affordable prices. With the expertise, they are doing just that, the MYA Military Cargos are super soft with the perfect amount of stretch. I love where the pockets hit, and the little A detail doesn’t hurt either.

Nordstrom and a few other retailers carry the brand, but you can check the website for shops near you! Also,  be sure to head over to see how Lauren and Nina already styled the MYA. Amy and Megan will be finishing out the week, and I am excited to see what they do with them.

GLAM STYLE APP AND NYFW

Although NYFW is officially over, all of the fun doesn’t stop here.  When Glam asked me to review there new GLAM Style App, I just knew it was going to be something spectacular, because let’s be honest- they are awesome. Thanks to the new app, this entire week I was able to get the inside scoop on what was happening in New York from some of my stylish friends, top style makers and designers. If you have 3 seconds today you should download the app here for free.  Some of my favorite articles to point out are Jenna Lyons style tips, Lela Rose’s famous biscotti recipe, and the ever hilarious, Hallie Wilson’s survival tips. The app even lists the best hotels, restaurants, and night life scene to be spotted at in NYC.  Since I know I will be in NYC come this February, I will definitely be using these tips and tricks for my first go-around at Fashion Week.  I am sure there is going to be great content to follow this first edition, so be sure to download the app for insider info on interviews with experts, fashion trends, events and more!

OUTFIT DETAILS

Club Monaco Skirt / J Crew Silk Stripe Top / Cynthia Vincent Heels (old, but I love these ) / Elliot Lucca Bag- Similar here / J Crew Crystal Necklace / Ray Ban Wayfarers / Stella and Dot Stack rings / David Yurman X Crossover Cuff

When I saw this Club Monaco skirt online a few weeks back, I knew I had to have it. The one problem was I didn’t know if it was going to fit right- I normally have a tough time with skirts because of my height. They never hit at the right spot, are too wide, or just all together bad.  When we were in Toronto, I tried on this beloved skirt and it fit perfectly.  I am loving this girly style with just the perfect amount of edge for Fall and throw on a pair of tights, booties and a sweater for Winter.

Can anyone else believe it is already Thursday? To all of my girlies in New York today- I hope you have a blast at NYFW! So sad I am missing out, but I will be heading down south to Austin for some much needed family time at the S Ranch.  I will definitely be following all of the action on Pinterest and living vicariously through Hallie’s instagram account.

LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

Is anyone else having a bitter sweet moment today? While I am excited for the long weekend, I am not sure if I am ready to say so long to summer and my flip flops.  So much has changed this summer and it was definitely one for the books. This summer marked my quarter-of-a-century birthday, a new career, and a new city. Being a 20 something definitely has had its obstacles, ya know, like figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life, or feeling like there is some sort of rule book for how life is supposed to be.

One of my girlfriends recently sent me a quote that really caught my attention. “There is nothing wrong with being typical but there is nothing fundamentally right with it either” (Bob Goff- Love Does). Honestly sometimes I get caught up in what everyone else is doing instead of doing what I feel is the right way to live, or the right thing to do, because let’s be honest does anyone even know the answer.  So as the summer winds down, my goal is to focus on acheieving greatness-in my own mind. I am going to be working on some fun projects, but I want to hear from you! Is there anything more/ different you would like to see here? Like more outfits, recipes, or a little inside into my daily life?  I would love the input, because you guys are the reason I love to write this blog!

OUTFIT DETAILS: BLACK & WHITE

Balwin The L in Murdered Out (denim version here) / Elizabeth and James White Tee / J Crew Collection Denim Jacket (on sale!) / Tory Burch Oversized Clutch / Paul Smith Sunglasses c/o / Zara Heels / Lulu Goldtone Drift Necklace / J Crew Bracelets (old)

So remember when I said I like the basics, well this is pretty much my go- to outfit as of late. Obviously, I like to switch up the tee and denim, but add some heels and a fun necklace and this outfit can transition from day to night.

There is something about black denim that makes an outfit feel complete for night-time wear. Even for a casual dinner, I love to throw on either this pair or my J Crew minnie pant, especially if I want to wear a t- shirt and let’s be honest, that is pretty much all of the time. Or for a Fall night out on the town add a silk blouse or fun peplum to dress it up a bit. In the Fall months when it starts to get pretty chilly at night, I always bring along my trusty denim jacket. I think it is the perfect piece in your closet to dress down any look.
