BOO!

While you are reading this, I am probably in route to Arizona to surprise my little brother for Halloween.  We are still trying to come up with a game plan to give him a big scare (suggestions are welcome!) While I will not be dressing up tonight, I am sporting a little orange and black today for our flight (funny, because I really hate this color combo on any other day of the year).

Tonight, we will be sipping on pumpkin ales and eating some delicious food at our block party.  Yes, this may be strange, but our neighborhood is made up of a bunch of cul de sacs, so every street hosts a block party with different apps and drinks. It really is a win-win for the kids and adults.

I can’t wait to see all of the creative kid costumes tonight, but like I said on Tuesday I stay clear of anyone with a scary mask! Happy Trick or Treating!

TRAVEL DETAILS

Do ya’ll have fun plans for the long weekend?  Thank goodness for Holiday Weekends! We are headed North of the border to celebrate the last weekend of summer in Toronto. I have never been so if anyone has any great recommendations, I would love your input! I am going to try and soak up my last weekend of summer by wearing my favorite white shorts, even though I do not believe in the white after Labor Day rule. White pants should be worn all year long.

Our plan is to spend the entire weekend outside exploring, riding bikes and eating our way through the city- which I am pretty stoked about. We have quite the drive so obviously I need all of the essentials; my September issues for Fall inspiration, my iPad with my new book (I know I am behind on the times!), a new pair of sunglasses that have officially become my all time favs, Twizlers- my guilty pleasure, and my handy dandy passport. I will spare you the picture inside, just think circa 2000s with braces, frizzy hair, and black eyeliner- not my best look (: I definitely need a cute cover like this gold one from The Crew to distract from the picture.

WISH LIST

Tomorrow marks my quarter of a century, yes- tomorrow is my 25th birthday and I am so excited to see what the second half of my 20s brings me.  I have been so fortunate to have had such amazing things happen in my early 20s, like graduate college, start a blog, work for a Major League Baseball team, travel to Europe and around the US, meet amazing friends that I feel like I have known forever, live with 12 girls in a house on the hill, live with one roomate (the best eva), and live alone (well with the pups, of course), and now living with a boy.  How things have changed in just 4 small years, but it funny how many changes have happened in my life in that short period of time.  I feel like a completely different person from the day I turned 20. While, I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing, I am just riding out the wave and learning as I go.  A good friend of mine who is in her 30s told me she felt like she changed the most in their 20s, somewhat coming into her own.  I feel like I am still working on that but I am getting closer every day.  Being confident, compassionate and open to learning are going to be my goals for twenty-five.  I just have a feeling this is going to be a good year.

Thanks for letting me ramble today- I am just feeling nostalgic as I cross over into my next quarter of a century.

Here are a few things I put on my wish list.  I am really not one that loves to be showered with gifts on my birthday, but I would rather spend time with the people I love.  I do always treat myself to one investment piece each year. Here are my top picks:

j brand leather jacket / ariel gordon wing and knot rings / sam edelman booties / otte dress / pashli / joie perfume / j crew highline t-shirt / cartier love bracelet / rebecca minkoff sunglass case / j crew earrings

STYLE DETAILS

The 4th of July is my all time favorite holiday, and I know it is totally weird.  But I seriously love everything that goes into celebrating the 4th.  Backyard barbecues (especially hot dogs), fireworks and hanging out pool side with friends and family. Growing up my cousins and I always dressed the part for the holiday- we even had jeans with bleached out stars on them… I swear they were cute, okay well maybe not, but we sure thought we had some good style back in the day.  These days I love to wear my patriotic colors in a more subtle way, instead of pulling out my American flag swimsuit- oh don’t worry, I always had a new one from Old Navy every year.  This year I found this really cute navy striped top, and red polka dot bottoms from J Crew (they are also having 40% off swim right now!) Hope ya’ll have fun plans for the 4th, I know that I will be hanging at the pool all day!

elizabeth and james cateye glasses / clare vivier flat clutch / gorjana stripe earrings / daniel wellington watch / j crew stripe darby loafers / joie coverup / joie stripe tank / gorjana star earrings / club monaco skirt / philip lim pashli satchel

LOVE LIST: DATE NIGHT

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your day is filled with smiles, cookies, and lots of lovin’.  I am excited to be spending the night with Patrick.  Our ideal date night is normally staying in, putting on our pj’s, watching movies (I normally fall asleep half way into every movie), and having a little treat like popcorn and Diet Pepsi.  So naturally, I was so excited when Diet Pepsi asked me to share something I love to do with all of you, so next Monday I will be back and you can check out all of the fun Patrick had during our Valentine’s Day weekend. We have a lot to pack into 3 days and I cannot wait to share with all of you.

Also, as an effort to #ShareTheLove, for every 50 repins this board gets on Pinterest, one of you lucky ducks will get a $50 gift card.  I will explain more on Monday, but how awesome is that?

So what are all of you lovies doing tonight? Staying in, girls night, date night?  We are snuggling up and renting a good movie. If you have any good movie suggestions, send them my way!

Make You Blush

So only around Valentine’s Day do I feel like its appropriate to talk about those cute little underthings. Not sure why, but maybe it’s just because I am a little immature. I’ll be honest, it almost embarrasses me to talk about lingerie on the blog, but I sure do love these pretty little underthings. I should start by saying that I actually do not own one piece, but brands like La Perla and Eberjey are making me reconsider just walking around the house by myself in some of these pretty things.

Did I tell ya’ll that I love Valentine’s Day, not because of gifts but because it is just a day that I can specifically tell everyone I love, how much I love them.  I am a pretty gushy girl, I never get off the phone without saying I love you, even to my best friends (sometimes I slip at work) Has that ever happened to you? Ya know, when you are trying to get off the phone really fast and it just slips out?  So embarrassing I know, but I accidentally did it to someone random the other day.

RING IN

As 2012 comes to an end, I wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you for reading this blog. Sometimes I forget how special it has been to meet new friends and form wonderful relationships through blogging, but that is what keeps me continuing my journey.  This blog has become a great place to escape the daily nuances of life, be creative, and allow myself to be completely real and honest.

As my second year of blogging comes to an end today, I start my third year of blogging (who would have thought, I would continue doing this crazy thing for two years!) but I cannot wait to see what comes out of this year.  I am not one for making a long list of resolutions, but this year there are a few goals I really would like to accomplish for this blog.  I want to focus on meeting and reaching out to more bloggers (hopefully going to ALT Summit is going to be a great start), blog every day (with the exception of Sundays and vacation), collaborate with a few of my favorite brands, create more original content (thanks to Patrick for my new camera lens), and continue to connect with my readers because really that is what it is all about.

So thank YOU all again for you support and kindness and I look forward to a wonderful 2013 with all of you.
