THINGS I LOVE

December may be one of my favorite months of the year, not because of the gifts, but because of all the holiday cheer.  I love driving around seeing all of the lights and trees in people’s homes and drinking hot cocoa by the fire (well, normally but it has been 70 degrees these past couple days). In order to stay on top of my gift giving this year, I decided to make my lists and check them twice and, of course, make a few gift guides for all of you lovelies to read and share. This week, I will be sharing all of the essentials- For Her, For Him, For the Boss, The Best friend, and a few more! Hopefully, this will help me and you with the dreaded-waiting-until- the- last- minute- shopping-trips on December 21st. I am totally guilty of this every year!

So without further adeau, here are a few of my favorite things about the month of December:

Perfect party dresses / Peppermint Bark and Hot Toddys / Pretty Wrapping Paper / PJ Sets from J Crew / The first snowfall of the year / Making List and Setting Goals (maybe with this darling planner from Design Darling

Thankful In Austin

This past week I was in Austin, TX spending time with family and realizing how thankful I am to have such wonderful people surrounding and supporting me.  Our week started out at the S Ranch, the family ranch just a few miles outside of Austin, and it never disappoints.  Lots of great wine and food, and of course hunting for the boys. There were lots of first experiences this year, new girlfriends and boyfriends ventured out to Austin for the weekend, Patrick’s first deer and my attempt at going hunting- well, sitting in the blind watching for hours on end.  Let’s just say, I don’t know when the next time I will go sit in a small room outside with no cell reception and no talking allowed..haha.

The Thanksgiving meal is always the best in Texas, everything is fresh and homemade including turkey in can, chicken-fried venison, and famous Bloody Mary’s by Uncle Greg. Naps and football filled our day on Thursday, Friday we ventured out to the Texas vineyards and tasted great wines, Saturday we went shopping at the Domain and Sunday we took a trip down South Congress Street.  All in all, Thanksgiving was full of things to be thankful for this year.

Minted Holiday Card Giveaway

It’s almost the time of the season when everyone’s mailboxes are filled with Holiday Cards and those awful full page letters about each of their kids. For people like me, I cringe at a bad designed Christmas card or the stock Happy Holiday cards from Walgreens. I love that you can choose your design, upload your best picture from the year, pick and choose your fonts and colors, and the end- you end with a perfect card!

Thanks to Minted, it’s your chance to win a $100 Minted gift card for your favorite custom Holiday Cards.

A Feast To Remember

I mean who doesn’t love a little gold with the best meal of the year? I absolutely love Thanksgiving, and it could have something to do with no cell reception or internet.  Going completely off the grid is nice every once and a while.  I get to enjoy quality time with some of my favorite people and watch ALOT of football and reruns of the best TV movies.  While my Thanksgiving meal tends to be a little more relaxed and typically includes some unusual tastings (mostly everything is chicken fried), this is what I always envision my dream table to look like if we ever had a sit down dinner type meal.  Gold rimmed glasses and plates, beautiful pies, and simple place settings would add the perfect touch to the wonderful fam that surrounded the table.  I am so thankful and blessed for all of the wonderful people and changes happening in my life right now (and ya’ll are part of the fun- It is hard to imagine where I would be if I didn’t start this blog almost 2 years ago).  Anywho,  Hope you all enjoy a delicious meal around a delicious table.

You can find all of these goodies at West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, William and Sonoma, and your very own backyard (well, maybe not my AZ friends).

Pumpkin Pickin'

A few weeks ago we made a pit stop in Louisburg, Kansas at the Cider Mill.  This is maybe one of my favorite things to do in the Fall and it could have something to do with the delicious Apple Cider treats. Seriously, nothing is better than a warm Apple Cider donut and a cup of Apple Cider (talk about a sugar high).  The small town feel is so fun, especially when you can wrap up in a sweater and hop on the back of a hay ride to grab your perfect pumpkin.  We enjoyed a little Blue Grass, had some homemade ice cream and explored the quirky vendors they had to offer. Being from Arizona originally, this new tradition has been quite the treat, especially being able to pick the pumpkins off the vine (yes… I know most of you will think this is odd that I had never done this before).  So until next year…

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Another year older, Another year wiser.  This is what my dad always says to me on my birthday. Today I am going to enjoy my cake and eat it too. I never really understood that saying, but today I will just go with it!  I am not one that likes to be the center of attention or throws a big bash for myself, instead I try to enjoy the little things and the darling cake pops my coworker brought me this morning.

Happy August 1st!
