Light and Shadow

Sometimes I think the saying  “All things should be black and white” is true when it comes to design.  Lately I have been drawn towards anything black and white whether it be clothes, bedding, or art.  The beauty is in the simplicity of contrast between light and shadow.  But sometimes you need a little pop of color for the unexpected.

Excuse Moi?

This morning on the Today Show there was a segment about how French kids are better behaved than American children. Since I do not have children it is not something I notice all of the time, but from my observations when I was abroad in Paris this statement seems to be true. I think when the day comes I will read this book by Pamela Druckerman called Bringing Up Bebe : One American Mother Discovers the Wisom of French Parenting. I mean they teach there babies how to sleep through the night at 2 months old (I don’t think it gets much better than that). For now here is some cute kiddos from the covers of French Vogue Enfants.

I’m Feeling

A little spring in my step.  And maybe because it is February and 65 degrees outside. It is absolutely beautiful today in Kansas City and all I want to do is be outside. I was in major need of some vitamin D this past week and today did the trick. Hopefully this mild winter will last..still trying to get used to the winters after 6 years.  I think I will be working out outside tonight and maybe taking the pups for a stroll.

Light Bulbs

I always thought that one day I would move into a home and have a traditional chandelier over my dining room table.  Well, my taste has change quite a bit recently and I am obsessed with these light bulb fixtures.  They are clean, modern and look great in any room.  Maybe one day I will have a large farmhouse table with one of these fixtures above it.

New Cards

This past weekend I met Michelle Henderson from Second Street East. (I finally found a blogger in Kansas City!) We started talking about her first trip to Alt Summit and then she handed me the cutest buisness card.  Well, it got me thinking that it was time to create something for those “just in case moments”.  It seems silly but it would have been nice to exchange cards rather than having her put my information in her phone.  So I decided to take a stab at designing my own, but I needed some inspiration first.

Here are a few business cards that were too cute for words:

1. Camille Styles (The gold edges are to die for)

2. Pugel Pixel (Confetti- yes please!)

3. Shyma Golden & 4. Franseco Mugani (Neon Pink)

5. Ade Chong (perfection)

6. Rifle Paper (personalized portrait)

Point, Shoot, Capture

I got Patrick this camera for his birthday last month and I have been dying to learn the ins and outs of using an SLR camera.  Note: I have realized that having a good camera does not equal good pictures.  I have been practicing with our cute puppies but am still not confident. So today Patrick is letting me borrow the camera and I decided to read some tutorials online and practice with some still images.  I know it will take time to learn and feel comfortable with it but I am excited to see how they turn out.

New Adventures

This has been one LONG week even though it was only 4 days.  Do you ever feel like the week seems endless? Well, I am so glad it is finally Friday and I am ready to take on the weekend. I am hoping for new adventures these next two days. Drinks with friends, a new “do” (not sure what the plan is yet), and to end the weekend with my favorite party of the year, Party Arty.   Hope you enjoy your few days off!

For the Long Work Days…

I have been crazy these last couple weeks at work and I have a few things that keep me sane.  Making lists, lists and more lists is the number one thing that keeps me going.  I love being able to cross things off and file away and it would be even better with these cute “Long List“, “Short List” Kate Spade Notebooks. Also, I would die for that Kate Spade Laptop bag.
