Since I moved we have been trying to do alot of exploring in the areas near our little town.  This weekend we drove over to Columbus and Cleveland and found some really fun areas with great food. On Saturday we enjoyed the afternoon sitting by the water, stopping into the West Side Market and playing around on the lawn of the Cleveland Museum of Art (it closed a few minutes before we pulled up- the perfect excuse to go back). The weather was perfect so we put the top down on the Jeep. I love the wind in my hair, except of the giant knots it created- let’s just say I was not having the best of hair days after our trip. Next on the list are Niagra Falls and Washington DC.

This summer is all about the basics and in Kansas City the best place to find everything you need is at the Country Club Plaza.  If you are not from KC, the Plaza is a shopping district with some of the best stores this city has to offer, along with great patios for happy hour like Gram and Dun and Coal Vines for a glass of rose.

Here are my picks from some the the Plaza’s top stores

Today I experienced my first taste of a macaroon ever. I was always hesitant to try them because I thought there was no way those cute little cookies would actually taste so wonderful.  Well, I was wrong! A co-worker and I stopped into Natasha’s Mulberry and Mott after a quick lunch on the plaza today to please our sweet tooth and let me tell you, my champagne flavored macaroon was melt- in- my- mouth delicious.  Here is a little eye candy of these colorful French delights!

Daily Detail

It’s Restaurant Week here in Kansas City and I am so excited to try some new restaurants and eat at some old favorites.  There are over 100 restaurants on the list, some of which are top restaurants with James Beard Award Winning chefs.  There are 4 things that are so great about this week: 1. Lunch is $15 and Dinner $30- pre set menu at each restaurant. 2. I get to try local restaurant that are not always in my price range :) 3. It is for a good cause- portions of the money raised during the week goes to Harvesters 4.  It’s a good excuse to get together with friends .  I think these are the spots I am going to try this week for lunch and dinner (why not indulge?).
