LATELY

Hello, November. Really though this year has just flown by and I cannot believe it is already the Holidays. The next two months are my absolute favorite, of course minus the stress of traveling (more to come on this) and stuffing my face (good thing I just bought some lose fitting sweaters this weekend).  I am trying to stay on top of my shopping and packing lists this year to eliminate that unnecessary stress.

In the next couple weeks I will be sharing tips and tricks that make the Holiday’s stress-free. From gift guides to quick and easy appetizers to the perfect Holiday Party outfits, I will have you covered this Holiday season.

Back to this past weekend, can we talk about perfect weather? Arizona was absolutely beautiful. There is just nothing better than spending quality time with your family. It’s an undescribeable feeling to be home, but I know my heart was full. We shared laughs, played endless board games, and spent lots of time outside under the blue skies. On Saturday we stopped into my Uncle’s new store in the Biltmore Fashion Park(If you are in the area be sure to stop by Bonafide Goods). For those who are not familiar, the Biltmore is a Fashion district that is celebrating 50 years. To celebrate, the outdoor district was full of amazing mannequins dressed in couture and handmade collections. My favorite was the dress constructed out of magazines…AMAZE!

BOO!

While you are reading this, I am probably in route to Arizona to surprise my little brother for Halloween.  We are still trying to come up with a game plan to give him a big scare (suggestions are welcome!) While I will not be dressing up tonight, I am sporting a little orange and black today for our flight (funny, because I really hate this color combo on any other day of the year).

Tonight, we will be sipping on pumpkin ales and eating some delicious food at our block party.  Yes, this may be strange, but our neighborhood is made up of a bunch of cul de sacs, so every street hosts a block party with different apps and drinks. It really is a win-win for the kids and adults.

I can’t wait to see all of the creative kid costumes tonight, but like I said on Tuesday I stay clear of anyone with a scary mask! Happy Trick or Treating!

POOLSIDE IN THE FALL

Mini Tunic Dress from Subtle Luxury (c/o) Love this one too! / J.Crew Navy Bandeau Top and Botton (on sale!) / Paul Smith Churhill Sunglasses (c/o) / Catbird Rings / TKEES Leather Flip Flops / Kate Spade Bag (old, similar here) / Essie Lollipop

There is nothing better than enjoying a little R&R on vacation. Being able to uplug is always a hard task for me, I am constantly on my phone, even to a fault. My goal this past weekend was to be present and just shut my phone off for a few hours. When we arrived in Houston, it was rainy and chilly so I thought slipping into my bathing suit was going to be out of the picture.  I woke up early to sneak in a quick brunch at the cutest cafe, Tiny Boxwoods with Lauren. I am so grateful to have met some many wonderful friends through blogging.  We chatted about blog, jobs, life, and of course shopping. We probably could have sat there for hours!

The sun was shining, so we headed down to the pool for a little relaxation.  When I am at a hotel, I always like to wear a cover up and this Subtle Luxury embroidered tunic was the perfect piece to throw on to eat a late lunch by the pool. I am a big fan of long sleeve tunics, but they have to be lightweight and just the right length. This tunic is whisper thin cotton and all of the embroidery is handmade, which gives it a special touch and oh soo beautiful. I am still dreaming about being back at the pool, as it is supposed to snow this week in the Midwest.  If you are planning a trip to warmer temps this winter, be sure to check out Subtle Luxury’s entire collection here. I am OBSESSED with this one too.

Be on the lookout for a special giveaway next week, you will not want to miss it!

INSTA LATELY

Sorry for the insta pics, but I decided to not bring my camera on our trip to Dallas and just enjoy.  I just love that city and especially the weather! After arriving late on Friday, we headed straight to dinner at Mi Cocina for some margs and delicious Mexican food, followed by some late night shenanigans at Kung Fu. The whole gang (minus a few in the wedding party) was back together again and I have not laughed so hard in a long time.  The wedding was so beautiful down to every last detail and naturally they had to kick us off the dance floor.

As of lately:

We made a quick stop at TJ Maxx, and I scored this Rebecca Taylor jacket / A few of you asked where my dress was from- it is BCBG, a few years old / Watched a little football on the plane (Go Cheifs!) / Loving my new Catbird Rings / May or may not have stopped at Wataburger on the way out of town / Enjoying shorts weather / Having too much fun with all of the girls (and I guess Patrick too!)

Well guess what? We are back at it and off again. This time we are jetting off to Kansas City for the Plaza Art Fair Weekend.  It is my favorite event in Kansas City and I knew I would not miss it this year just because I moved away.  For many of you who have never been to Kansas City or even the midwest, the Art Fair is the best weekend of the year! Not only are there 15 blocks full of local and national artists booths, but some of the best food and drinks you will ever have. Lets talk about a highlight from last year, a free Chocolate Bag from McCormick and Schmicks, thanks to a little sweet talk with one of my girlfriends. This is the first time I am headed back to Kansas City after the big move and I could not be more excited to see all my girlies. I am sure there is going to be too much fun (nah… there is no such thing as too much fun) to be had.

The weather is supposed to be absolutely beautiful for the weekend, so I am going to enjoy wearing a few of my new fall favorites. Since we will be out and about all day/night- I am going to bring my new leather jacket and these heels to dress up my daytime look.  I decided to stick with neutrals when I made my packing list because really you can never go wrong with some good black and white.  Oh, and I am sure I will be doing lots of shopping, since I have been on a freeze for the last 2 months.

LATELY

Happy Labor Day! I hope ya’ll are enjoying the last few hours of sunshine wherever you may be. I just got back from an amazing trip to Canada. Highlights of the trip included riding bikes around Toronto Island and finding secret spots to catch a little sun, eating our way through the city- this may be an understatement, a little shopping on Bloor Street, and having a late romantic dinner at Sotto Sotto (where we sat next to Drake and his date). I had the gnocchi, which reminded me of being in Italy and the Pino Nior was even better. It was a great way to end the weekend, and going back to work after a long weekend is always tough, but it is another short week for me and I am looking forward to Thursday!

TRAVEL DETAILS

Do ya’ll have fun plans for the long weekend?  Thank goodness for Holiday Weekends! We are headed North of the border to celebrate the last weekend of summer in Toronto. I have never been so if anyone has any great recommendations, I would love your input! I am going to try and soak up my last weekend of summer by wearing my favorite white shorts, even though I do not believe in the white after Labor Day rule. White pants should be worn all year long.

Our plan is to spend the entire weekend outside exploring, riding bikes and eating our way through the city- which I am pretty stoked about. We have quite the drive so obviously I need all of the essentials; my September issues for Fall inspiration, my iPad with my new book (I know I am behind on the times!), a new pair of sunglasses that have officially become my all time favs, Twizlers- my guilty pleasure, and my handy dandy passport. I will spare you the picture inside, just think circa 2000s with braces, frizzy hair, and black eyeliner- not my best look (: I definitely need a cute cover like this gold one from The Crew to distract from the picture.

TRAVEL DETAILS

And we are off again, this time just for a quick 48 hour trip to St. Louis to celebrate my papa’s 90th birthday (Seriously, you could never guess his age!) In order to try and pack in a small carry on, I decided to make a list of what I actually needed for each day we will be there.  I always wear comfy jeans and a light sweater on the plane, because I am always freezing on flights.  Saturday we will be wandering around town and maybe soaking up some sun at the pool and then getting all dolled up for a celebratory dinner. In a blink of an eye the weekend will be over and we will pack back up and head out early on Sunday.  I would love to hear if you have any great secrets to packing light?  I always try but then I end up throwing all of my favorite things into my suitcase and only wearing 2 outfits! (Seriously, I need help people!).

Packing List

gorjana infinity II ring / samantha faye gold lips penant / sleeveless signature blouse / otte alex sweater / julina dress / current elliot distressed denim / claire vivier foldover clutch / black legging jeans / tory burch tote / eberjey pj set / fenton buckle boots / realove sandals

MOVING DAY

Without a lack of trying, I have been wanting to post this for 2 days now but the lack of internet has really been the cause of the radio silence around here.  If you are following me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have moved and I started my new job yesterday (oh and we also made one of our rooms into a closet- I will post about this soon).  It has been a fun adventure so far and I hope that it continues.  We moved into our new house yesterday and without a lack of a better term or as Tim Gunn always says we will “Make it work”.  It may not have all of the luxuries like our last place but it certainly has all of the essentials (but lets just say I will not be taking any pictures of the plaid sofa or lazy boy- hah).

Moving is always such a pain but moving a couple states over has its new challenges.  So to make myself comfy in the jam-packed car, I made sure to bring the essentials.

elizabeth and james tee / all star converse / lo and sons catalina bag / ray ban sunglasses / joie sweatpants / catbird ballerina bracelet and threadbare rings / burt’s bees ultra conditioning lip balm

LATELY

Happy Monday! I am back at home after one fun weekend in San Diego.  There is seriously nothing better than catching up with friends you have known your entire life (and a few new ones).  We had just as much fun late night dancing in the hotel room, as we did out at the bars. A few of the bridesmaids made these darling gift bags for everyone with custom cups, tank tops and the best bachelorette hangover kit (that was definitely needed on Sunday morning).

Today definitely called for a Suja juice cleanse, and first up is Glow (I will let you know the verdict).  I may even try to do a 3-day cleanse to detox from the amazing weekend, but we will see how today goes. How was your weekend?

ps. check back later today for some big news!
