The new year is all about starting off on the right foot (well, other than the fact that I ended up sick last night and in bed before 10pm) but it is also a time to reflect on the prior year.  2013 was a wonderful year for me, this blog, and our little family.  The first part of my quarter century has been one crazy ride. As I look back I feel so lucky about how many amazing things happened in 2013. I never really knew what it meant when my dad told me that you make your own luck, but this year was different than any other. I worked harder than I ever have, met amazing lifelong friends, decorated an entire house and then moved it all into storage, took a huge leap of faith into a new career, moved to the middle of nowhere, got engaged to my best friend, and still had time to enjoy the little details.

As I move forward to 2014, I find myself wanting more balance. Balance is not something that comes easily to most, and I am the first to admit I am not an expert. Instead of making pointless resolutions this year that I will never stick to, I decided to work on my ‘balance’ in all aspects of my life.  From work to wedding planning to the blog I love so dearly to life, I want to live in the present this year. So my goal is to “make my own luck” again in 2014, and still enjoy every second of it!

Happy New Year! xoxo

Love this post! And I couldn’t agree more about the idea of resolutions. I’d rather focus on bettering myself in all areas than a list of unattainables. Also, congratulations on your engagement!
