We made it to the island after a
short 30 hour drive. Patrick deserves a medal for driving over 28 hours straight! We are getting settled into our new temporary home with Mackenzie’s family and have had the BEST time in Nantucket so far.
We arrived on Saturday morning and immediately hit the ground running. We took a stroll to grab (a much needed) coffee and then Mackenzie, Amy and I took the pups to ‘Sconset for a little walk around the Sankaty lighthouse and around town.
Saturday night we headed to CRU with Gray Malin and his husband for dinner and drinks! It was such a fun way to kick off our trip! They were here to shoot an aerial views of the Nantucket beaches (we got a sneak peek and they are incredible!) Patrick and I have always been huge fans of Gray’s work. We currently have three pieces in our house, and I can’t wait to add Nantucket to the collection.
Sunday, we decided to grab a late brunch at Island Kitchen and then we spent most of the day at the beach. I really have to say, nothing makes me happier than sinking my toes into the sand.
This weekend slowly all blurred together (this gal needs a nap), but Monday we grabbed brunch with Amy’s darling co-worker and walked around downtown and did a little window shopping. CJ Laing had the CUTEST dresses and Erica Wilson made me want to take up needlepointing. Maybe this will be my summer hobby.
After a full day of shopping and the beach, we headed to Jetties beach and set up a little picnic. I was a little nervous that the pups would freak out with the fireworks, but they were completely un-phased and loving the sand.
On the Fourth of July we headed over to ‘Sconset for blueberry muffins, ice coffee and watch the bike parade. This outfit is what I wore during the day and swapped out my Levi’s for this adorable white skirt for nighttime. I never thought I was going to be a fan of bodysuits, but this red and white stripe completely changed my mind. It is so flattering and if you are wearing high-waisted shorts, there is no bunching involved! Win-win in my book! I am thinking I need to get this one next.
