This week was all about slowing down. I came into the new year with great intentions, big goals and laser focus. This week I realized is that sometimes it is more important to slow down and let things work themselves out with time. For the last three weeks I have been going 100 miles a minute and this week (unintentionally) I decided to accept that not everything will happen all at once.
We got back from Vail on Sunday morning, both exhausted from an amazing trip and decided to just lay in bed all day and relax. My to-do list was filled with things I needed to get done before the week ahead, but I decided to put my phone down and just enjoy the moment. With the flu in high season––seriously everyone I know has/or had it this year, I have been making sure I am not getting run down. This entire week I woke up with no alarm clock (mind you, it was still at 7:30am), but instead of jumping out of bed and rushing to the gym, I took my time in the morning. I ended up working out during lunch or after work this entire week and minus my extra hour of sleep, I honestly realized that I really enjoy working out in the mornings. It jumpstarts my day, I am more productive and I tend to eat healthier throughout the day. So next week, I will be back to my old ways, but it was nice to take a breath and slow things down.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE WEEK
CLEAN BEAUTY: On another note, last night I went to the store opening of the new Credo and left feeling inspired and full of new knowledge about clean beauty. If you are not familiar with Credo, it is an all natural beauty retailer. They have such a wonderful curated selection of proudcts, including all of my favorite brands. I was like sponge trying to soak in all of the tips and tricks from some of the amazing women behind the top selling clean beauty brands. I really am at the beginning of my clean beauty journey and I was so fortunate to have met Indie, Melissa and Jenna last night. They are all incredible people with wonderful stories, and I felt so connected and passionate about what they are doing in this industry. Needless to say, I am so excited to continue to learn all things clean beauty. A few products I picked up last night and excited to try: this charcoal mask, this illuminating primer, this face oil and toner, and this RMS highlighter. Stay tuned for more clean beauty…
IN MY CART:Just ordered another one of these white tees, because I just can’t get enough. I also just ordered this dress, this dress, and these sandals in the hopes it warms up in Dallas (wishful thinking, I know). I also got these sneakers that I am super excited to try on.
SHOWS I HAVE BEEN WATCHING: I have a confession and I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I just finished all of the seasons of Pretty Little Liars. I know it’s been a few years since the last episode aired, but I came across it on Netflix and next thing I knew, I was on Season 4. It’s one of those shows that when you start watching, you can’t stop. It actually the perfect show to watch on the treadmill because I didn’t want to get off until the episode was over. Are there any new shows you are loving lately? We just finished The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and loved it!
PODCASTS: I bookmarked Jess’s post about her favorite podcasts and I can’t wait to add these to my cue! I am still listening to Up First and The Daily every morning.
MEAL PLANNING: This should really go on next week’s highlights, but I started to pin some recipes I want to make next week. I decided that I am going to make a plan to eliminate the dreaded question, “What should we have for dinner?” Because we can’t make up our mind, we end up at Whole Foods three times a week.
