LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

TGIF!

This was a big week for me.  It may sound silly, but I finally hit a goal I set for myself after blogging for six years. You would think a girl could get it together by now, but this was finally the week I hit publish 5 days in a row.  I am giggling to myself while I write this because it seems trivial in the larger picture. However, for the last five years I have put this goal on paper and never accomplished it, that is until now. :)

I don’t know if it is just me getting older or settling into married life in Dallas, but people have been commenting on my positive outlook on life lately.  I haven’t put my finger on it, but I have been SO happy lately.

There are a few things I credit this overwhelming joy with:

1. Eating right. After completing the Whole30 last month, I have continued to eat whole, fresh foods and completely cut out dairy and gluten from my diet.  This is coming from the girl who always asked for another bread basket at a restaurant.  My mind has been clear, I have more energy and my skin has never felt better. If you have any questions about the Whole30 program, I am no expert but I would love to help!

2. Work/Life Balance. I have never been great at this, but I credit my newfound balance to great friends with healthy lifestyles (minus our love for rosé). I have been living more and working the same amount, but for some reason, the work feels more enjoyable.  I also have to credit my happiness to working out 5 times a week.  My friend and trainer, Michelle, has really changed my view on fitness.  She pushes me to be stronger both mentally and physically everyday.

3. Unplugging at night. This was a goal I set for myself at the new year in efforts to be more present.  We are all guilty of getting wrapped up in the Instagram/Facebook game and spend a ridiculous amount of time sitting on our phones.  In effort to live in the moment and enjoy life, I have been putting my phone on the charger when the hubs gets home from work and leave it there until the morning. I wish I could say this happened everyday, but I have been actively working on this.

While these are the factors I have recently noticed that have been increasing my happiness, my amazing husband and family are always the constants.  So, I am going to embrace my positive outlook on life and only hope I can bring a little joy to your life too!

So, TGIF and let the good times roll!

I’m so impressed you’ve been able to stay dairy and gluten free…teach me your ways! I’ve been pretty good about my workout routine lately, but my eating is out of control (cheese is my weakness). Enjoy the weekend ahead!
