I have always been one for easy dressing, but I really have been missing out on a styling secret––that is, until now. The caftan may be the most comfortable style on the market and I am all about it. The temps in Texas, as you probably have heard me complain about a few times by now, are anything but pleasant. Lightweight options are the key beating the heat…hence this dress.
After the best weekend and then a week with my mama (miss her already!), we are ready for a very lazy weekend at home.
One of my favorite things to do on Saturday morning is walk the pups to Highland Park Village and grab coffee or juice. It is a great way to ease into the weekend. If you are ever visiting Dallas, be sure to stop by Highland Park Village for a little window shopping and snack from Bird Bakery––the tomato soup is my favorite. I took my mom on Tuesday and she loved it!
It is still very much summertime here in Dallas and I have been wearing lightweight pieces like this wrap skirt and my go-to tee for a little afternoon shopping. I actually have this tee in 2 colors and I am thinking I need the long sleeve style for Fall. I am really into the puffed sleeve trend. I have mostly been wearing mine with vintage denim cutoffs, but I love this extra girly look, too.
And just like that, my birthday’s over. Don’t worry, the celebration isn’t over just yet. Patrick planned the most amazing trip to Napa full of surprises! We leave on Friday morning and I am bursting with excitement. This is our first time to wine country so I’m super excited to escape to cooler weather and amazing wine. Thank you all again for all the birthday wishes. You sure know how to make a gal feel like a million bucks! :)
I made it home late last night from Cabo after a wonderful weekend with my best gals. As a result, I am moving a little slow on this rainy Monday. We had the best trip and if anyone is planning a bachelorette party in Mexico, feel free to email me because we stayed at the coolest house! My favorite part––minus hanging out with my friends, was our dinner at Flora Farms. The grounds were beautiful and the food was even better! It’s a must-see when in Cabo!
Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? We had a great couple of days trying to stay out of the triple digit heat in Dallas. We spent lots of time watching Netflix. What are some of your favorite shows? We just finished The Sinner and we need a new series to start! On Saturday, my sweet friend Saragh planned a brunch to kick off my birthday month––I can’t believe I am going to be 30 in eight days! Our brunch turned into late afternoon margaritas and dinner at Dolce Riviera. Days like this make my heart so happy.
I’m not going to lie that I am going a little stir crazy as I let my toe heal. It’s funny how you don’t realize how active you are on a daily basis until you can’t do the simple things, like walk the dogs. Hopefully, I will be back to 100% soon.
Happy Friday! Anyone else feeling like the weeks are flying by? Maybe it’s the fact that I turn 30 in a few weeks or that we only have a a couple months left of summer, but I am filling up my weekends with all the plans. This weekend we are headed to brunch with some friends and then I hope to spend most of the time by the pool. For my birthday, I asked for tennis lessons––I was hoping to have my first one this weekend, but my toe still has a little more healing to do before I head out onto the court. Injuries aside, I picked up this adorable tennis dress for my first lesson. Next weekend I am heading to my best friends bachelorette party in Cabo. After that we have a packed schedule the rest of the summer until Labor Day.
Oh, sweet summertime. I wish you would last forever.
There is nothing love more than building out my summer wardrobe. So, before heading to Nantucket I was introduced to a darling retailer, Halsbrook and to say I was obsessed would be an understatement. I ended up stocking up on so many classic pieces from some of my favorite brands.
When it comes to shopping, I have been making an effort to be more intentional when it comes to my purchases. After doing a major closet clean out last year, creating a cohesive closet full of quality pieces has become so important to me. During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, it is so easy to go overboard (there are so many cute options this year!), so knowing which brands and items to buy is so essential for staying on track. I purchased 10 items (all at different price points) this year and I felt really good about my decisions!
If there is one thing that I was missing last summer on Nantucket, it was some casual summer sweaters. I brought my trusty Tippi’s with me, but I was lacking different styles and weights for cooler nights. This year I came prepared and packed this striped one––which ended up being my most worn item, this Flag sweater and a navy and ivory cable knit cashmere for throwing over my shoulders.
