COFFEE TALK

36 Hours. Ever think if you had just 36 hours what you would do with your time. If you asked me right now at this very minute I would say sleep, read a good book and take a bubble bath (but that could be the lack of sleep talking from a long week) but most days I would say, let’s go somewhere we have never been before. I am a pretty adventurous person when it comes to trying new things or exploring new places, but I am also a total creature of habit when it comes to my daily life. Honestly, I have noticed it more and more as I get older. As I continue to dive into adulthood I realize I like my routine (and everyone in it) as boring as it may appear. So the reason I am even bringing up this topic is because of a song I heard last night. Long story short, the song talks about how there are so many special moments that are missed because you are stuck in the same routine. The song lyrics and his story stuck with me all day. So today and moving forward I want to embrace those little moments in the ordinary and maybe each special moment make everyday a new adventure.

LATELY

“The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.” – Henry Ward Beecher.

Sometimes I forget how such little, trivial things make me so happy.  Like going for a run outdoors, baking delicious cookies- even if it means throwing half of them away, listening to a playlist of 90s music, or picking up a pencil to sketch. These common things seem to spark my happiness and honestly I do not do these things often enough, I get caught up watching tv, browsing Pinterest, or obsessing over work. Finding happiness in the ordinary is something I try and work through everyday, but there are always days where it does not feel so easy. Last week I posted about my old house and how I missed it. I really started thinking, and it wasn’t necessarily the house that I missed but it was the memories that came from living in that house.  While I am still so young (and I know I have so much more to learn), the last two years have been anything but static.  I met some of my best friends living in that house, mine and Patrick’s relationship grew stronger than ever, and I became what I think as an independent lady (I think living by yourself helps with this).  So as I move forward into this next chapter, I am making conscious effort to do the things that make me happy, and blogging is definitely one of my greatest joys.  What are some of those common things that make you happy? I would love to hear.

SHOES, SHOES, SHOES

In the last couple weeks, I started a new hobby….something called collecting shoes. This hobby has been known to be quite fun. Honestly, I was really in want/need of some new Fall shoes. When it comes to shoes, I am all about the classics. Flats, booties and heels are my three go to’s for Fall, which is probably the same for most of you (:. I think these four pairs may be my favorite of all time.

Since my work wardrobe is so casual; I can wear jeans everyday of the week if I choose, so I normally wear either my Joie Day Dreaming Loafers, Sam Edelman Booties, or my white Converse sneaks. When the weather cools down, my go to outift is black Minnie pants, a boyfriend style flannel and my new favorite Rag and Bone Newbury Booties that I picked up at Baldwin this past weekend. Another Fall essential is a pair of closed toed heels. I am loving the pointed toe for Fall to elongate my ever so stubby legs. Since I have about 10 weddings before the year is over, I love the neutral color of these BCBGeneration heels that I can wear with a couple of different dresses. What are your favorite Fall shoes this season? I am sure excited about my four new pairs!
