Vulnerability only makes us stronger.
To be honest, I am not sure what has taken me so long to share these picture and my exciting engagement story; maybe it is because it was such a special moment and I wanted to keep it all to myself or the fact that I didn’t know if this was the place to share such a vulnerable, yet amazing time in our lives. Remember this post? Well, I was so overjoyed at the moment I didn’t even have any words to describe how I felt. So today, I am going to let share my story with you because really it just felt right (and thanks to Style Me Pretty, I found out it is National Proposal Day).
When I finally looked up from furiously taking notes (really just trying to understand my foreign Calculus professor) I noticed this cute boy sitting next to me trying to get my attention. Later after that class, I was to find out he only wanted to “borrow” my notes and homework. As the weeks went on, we started talking after class and I became totally head over heels for this cute football player. Honestly, never in a million years did I think he would be interested in me, but about two weeks of talking and flirting after class, he asked me out on a date. Cue the girly screams in my head.
Fast forward six years later with lots of highs and lows, a long distance relationship, and too many memories to count on two hands, we are stronger and happier than that first day we met. So here we are, it is December 22nd, Patricks’s birthday, and he is in bed with the flu. With cancelled plans, he was devastated to say the least. But wait, it even gets worse, 2 am and I end up with the flu. We are hopping on a plane at 10am the next morning and it is not looking promising. Both not at our best somehow we make it onto the plane because (he knows we have to or else his plan is ruined) Christmas eve is the next day.
Let’s hop back to October, when he planted the idea in my head to take some Christmas Card Pictures this year. This was something I had been bugging him to do for ages. So I call a few photographers that a friend gave to us (little did I know, Patrick had already emailed all of them) to see if they were available to take some pictures and set it all up for December 23rd. So we land and head up north to meet our photographer friend who was going to take our pictures (obviously I did not think anything of it because I was just loving the fact that he was allowing me to get professional pictures of us taken). And there it was…the moment every girl (well, probably most girls) dream of. The man of their dreams, down on one knee asking to spend the rest of their life with you.
So here it is, all my heart on the table for you to read and enjoy. This is my love story and that is exactly what it has been from day one and I am so beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with him.
p.s. There are a few more details about our special day that I decided to keep to myself, but let’s just say he really outdid himself in the planning category, which makes him a keeper for life. :)
A Side Note: Would y’all like to see some wedding posts on the blog? I don’t want to turn this space into a wedding site, but I think it would be fun to share some of my planning here with you!
