Amy, Mackenzie, Riley and I on Nantucket

We’re going to get real today, okay? I am completely guilty of skimming over those real life details on the blog and replacing them with pretty pictures and things.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE those pretty things, but every once in a while I feel like I want to get real with all of you.  I mean, I am still a girl in her 20s trying to figure it all out. Today I’m talking all about friendship.

An unexpected break sometimes leads to the best inspiration.

If you haven’t noticed from my instagram account, I have been working on my frequent flyer points to say the least. As your reading this, I am probably hoping back on a plane from Phoenix to Dallas, but not long I will be back at it again next weekend.  Between wedding planning, holidays, and wedding season; trying to keep up with a normal routine has been more than I bargained for this summer. The inspiration I find traveling is something I would never replace, but sometimes my computer takes a backseat.

This past weekend was full of checking things off our wedding planning list and the most exciting part was finding my dream dress from one of my favorite designers. Of course, you will have to wait until after the wedding (Patrick does indeed read this blog) to find out the details about the dress. After an exciting day spent searching for the perfect dress, the other part of the weekend was spent by the pool trying to achieve a perfect glow Patrick’s sisters upcoming nuptials and celebrating my best friend’s 26th birthday with all of girlfriends.

You can always follow my adventures at #ADODTravels while I am away!

Growing up in the desert certainly had its perks. Wearing sandals year round  and never owning a real winter coat were just a few of the advantages. When the summer months hit my wardrobe always shifted from jeans to light-as-a-feather dresses (you know, the ones that barely touch your body because it is so unbearably hot). Finding those effortless pieces to add to your closet can be a little bit of a struggle, well that is until my friend Catherine decided to open her new shop, Pepper.  Pepper is a perfectly curated store in the heart of downtown Scottsdale.

Catherine and I have known each other for over 10 years. I remember the day she showed up at cheer practice. She was one of those girls who just screamed cool and I always envied her boho chic style. Years past, and Catherine went onto college at ASU and then headed to LA for her masters.  While she was there she worked for Rachel Pally, and then ventured into the wholesale division at Free People and Alternative Apparel.  But back to this year, she decided it was finally time to start her own store.  A collection of all of her favorite brands in one place.

You guys know, I do not really give off that boho chic vibe. I always dream of pulling off that look, so when Catherine introduced me to her new shop a few months ago, I was so excited to fill my closet with a few essential pieces. I am kind of obsessed with this Free People dress, which it is perfect for the hot summer months. Their website has a great selection of Free People, Line and Dot, Alternative Apparel basics, and MinkPink. I have been stalking the website for their new arrivals everyday and I am already planning to buy this hat and this romper.

Because the gals over at Pepper are so great, they are offering all A Dash of Details readers 25% off everything in the webstore by using the code: ADASHOFDETAILS. Happy Shopping!

This weekend I am hopping on a plane to Scottsdale for another bachelorette party (and I am sure this one is going to go down in the history books).  I plan to spend most of the time laying by the pool with at least a “few”greyhounds (my drink of choice) in my hand.  But first up, our attempt at Camelback Mountain.  Wish us luck!

Happy Weekend Lovelies!

If you want some wanderlust inspiration, head to Emily Rosendahl’s Pinterest board.  Let’s just say it’s like heaven on earth.

Vulnerability only makes us stronger.

To be honest, I am not sure what has taken me so long to share these picture and my exciting engagement story; maybe it is because it was such a special moment and I wanted to keep it all to myself or the fact that I didn’t know if this was the place to share such a vulnerable, yet amazing time in our lives.  Remember this post? Well, I was so overjoyed at the moment I didn’t even have any words to describe how I felt. So today, I am going to let share my story with you because really it just felt right (and thanks to Style Me Pretty, I found out it is National Proposal Day).

When I finally looked up from furiously taking notes (really just trying to understand my foreign Calculus professor) I noticed this cute boy sitting next to me trying to get my attention.  Later after that class, I was to find out he only wanted to “borrow” my notes and homework.  As the weeks went on, we started talking after class and I became totally head over heels for this cute football player.  Honestly, never in a million years did I think he would be interested in me, but about two weeks of talking and flirting after class, he asked me out on a date.  Cue the girly screams in my head.

Fast forward six years later with lots of highs and lows, a long distance relationship, and too many memories to count on two hands, we are stronger and happier than that first day we met. So here we are, it is December 22nd, Patricks’s birthday, and he is in bed with the flu.  With cancelled plans, he was devastated to say the least.  But wait, it even gets worse, 2 am and I end up with the flu.  We are hopping on a plane at 10am the next morning and it is not looking promising.  Both not at our best somehow we make it onto the plane because (he knows we have to or else his plan is ruined) Christmas eve is the next day.

Let’s hop back to October, when he planted the idea in my head to take some Christmas Card Pictures this year. This was something I had been bugging him to do for ages. So I call a few photographers  that a friend gave to us (little did I know, Patrick had already emailed all of them) to see if they were available to take some pictures and set it all up for December 23rd.  So we land and head up north to meet our photographer friend who was going to take our pictures (obviously I did not think anything of it because I was just loving the fact that he was allowing me to get professional pictures of us taken). And there it was…the moment every girl (well, probably most girls) dream of. The man of their dreams, down on one knee asking to spend the rest of their life with you.

So here it is, all my heart on the table for you to read and enjoy. This is my love story and that is exactly what it has been from day one and I am so beyond excited to spend the rest of my life with him.

p.s. There are a few more details about our special day that I decided to keep to myself, but let’s just say he really outdid himself in the planning category, which makes him a keeper for life. :)

A Side Note: Would y’all like to see some wedding posts on the blog? I don’t want to turn this space into a wedding site, but I think it would be fun to share some of my planning here with you!

Welcome back, February. I am welcoming you with open arms and lots of love, but please, bring me some warmer weather.  :)

This month is already off to a great start.  We had the most exciting and productive trip to Arizona this past weekend, which resulted in crossing some very important wedding to-do’s off of the list.  Oh and not to mention, finding any reason to leave #littlelovenotes for each other the entire month.

ADOD_LATELY02_03ADOD_LATELY02_03-2We found these amazing Moroccan inspired pieces at one of our potential wedding venues this weekend.

ADOD_LATELY02_03-4Magazine hoarding is one of my weaknesses, I have been flipping through to get some major inspiration for Spring (it really cannot come soon enough!) and a little addition to my Spring wardrobe thanks to Big Buddha.

ADOD_LATELY02_03-3In order to not get overwhelmed and to try and take it one step at a time, I have not allowed myself to buy any wedding magazines- that is until yesterday. Now that we have secured our planner (I cannot wait to introduce her to all of you!), it is time to fill my brain with inspiration.  Don’t worry, I won’t bombard this space with all things weddings, but how would you guys feel about a few posts here and there?

And we’re off…again…

This time we are headed to sunny Scottsdale for a quick trip with a major wedding to-do list in front of us.  Hopefully we will be checking some of the big things off our list, like setting a date! Our hopes are to sprinkle in a little golf, hiking, and of course some quality family time.

I honestly do not know what I am more excited for, A. starting the wedding planning process or B. getting out of this horribly cold weather.  I am definitely packing some shorts for this trip to 75 degrees and sunny (jealous yet?)
