TGIF! Do you ever feel like the week after a trip you need another week to recover?  It takes me a few days to get back in my schedule and routine and by the time I blink it’s Friday again. This weekend I plan to spend my time catching up on work and prepping for our upcoming trip to Nantucket.  I am excited to hit the beaches, show Patrick the island for the first time and spend time with great friends!

But now onto this dress. If your schedule looks anything like mine, your weekends for the next 2 years are filled with weddings. I have said it before but these events can get a little pricey.  From the bachelorette parties, to the showers and then the actual weddings, you need something cute to wear to all of them.  ASOS has always been a go-to of mine for cute dresses. Especially because they are one of the only brands that carries cute petite options. So when they reached out about their wedding shop, I knew it was the perfect place to find affordable dresses for every event.

Flower Crowns, Circle Shades, and Bohemian dresses. The 70’s and 90’s are back in a big way this season and my high school self could not be happier.  I’ll be honest; I have always wished I was a flower child.  I look back at my mom’s pictures and wish she would have kept some of those amazing dresses from back in the day.

In high school, my best friend and I decided we would listened to Bob Dylan, rock natural waves and no-makeup, and wear hemp necklaces (let’s pretend I didn’t mention that last thing) in attempt to bring out our inner flower child spirit.  But no matter how much I tried, I still looked like a girly girl. After all, we were both cheerleaders who had tons of school spirit. To say we were conflicted was an understatement.

Now that the trend is back, I thought I would attempt to bring out my inner flower child again, while sticking with . This floral crop from ASOS is just one of the cute pieces I picked up. This time I decided to stick with gauzy floral dresses, flare jeans and off the shoulder tops.

Long weekends are good for the soul.

It’s a reason to escape from reality, even if it is just for one extra day.  If you read Fridays post, you would know that we stayed in Dallas for the holiday weekend and had big plans to play tourist in our own city. Thanks to constant rain showers, our plans changed from spending our days outside to spending the majority of our days in bed snuggling with the puppies, listening to the rain fall, and watching old 90s movies. It was exactly what we needed.

Whether you took a quick getaway or stayed home, I hope your long weekend was full of sunshine, watermelon and great friends.  Now go enjoy your day off and explore!

In honor of the cold front that just hit Dallas yesterday, I thought it was only right to share these pictures from our trip to New York a few weeks ago.  I know for my fellow midwesterners or east coast people, they cringe at me saying cold front (especially with temps only in the high 30’s, trust me I remember those -45 degree days in Ohio last year) but apparently my body has reverted back to my southwest roots.

The first day Patrick and I arrived in New York we ventured from SoHo where we stayed to the Upper East Side to pick up Patrick’s tuxedo for the wedding. I mean really, who doesn’t love a guy in a tuxedo. On our way we got a little sidetracked turned around when we got off on the subway so instead we started our day on the Upper West side right on the edge of the park.  It was only fitting that Patrick’s first New York moment was in Central Park.  It had been snowing earlier that morning so there was a gentle dusting on all of the trees. As we took in all of the beauty, we slowly strolled though the park, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city around us.

Goal Number 1: Keep it simple and signature.

For me, this year is all about focusing on my signature style.  Being a blogger, I am constantly finding inspiration, watching trends and trying to stay up with the newest and best products, but honestly I love a simple outfit that is elevated with classic accessories.  Do you feel the same?

Note: Keeping things simple does not make you boring.  Being able to re-wear clothes in your closet is the most important thing (because lets be honest, no one can afford to wear something new every day). My goal this year is to show all of you how to wear your basics while still keeping them fresh, on trend and a little different than everyone else.

If you have noticed since the new year I have been on a monochromatic kick.  Being only 5’2″, a single color elongates your figure and keeps me feeling comfortable throughout the entire day.  Adding texture and layers rather than color allows you to add something unexpected to a neutral look.

Karl Lagarfeld once said no one is overdressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.

For me, this statement is so true. I am always more confident when wearing black and this ASOS LBD is no exception. Don’t you just love when you find a dress for all occasions?  I can wear it running errands with these sandals on the weekend or pair it with some heels  and a leather jacket for a girls night out.  Honestly, its been the best $30 I ever spent (Yep, you heard me right just $30.). Here are a few of  my favorite LBD’s that are currently on sale!

Personally, I think you should put on your favorite LBD and hit the town tonight! Happy Friday!

“I think you will agree that life’s plans are not always tied up in neat little packages. Occasionally we find ourselves at unexpected crossroads with more than one opportunity from which to choose. Time itself is often the best indicator of which decision to make, for it can tell so many thing that are now hazy.”
― Linda Lee Chaikin

So I am here today, at a crossroads.  But then again, I guess that is pretty much every girl in their mid-twenties .  Whether you are living in a small town and wanting to get out, or feeling alone in a big city; that feeling of what is next lingers in your mind. For me, it consumes my thoughts.  I know I have so much to be grateful for; I am happy and healthy, about to marry the man of my dreams, have a wonderful job and blog that I love, but yet everything else in my life feels a little like chaos. So today, I am going to take a deep breath and realized everything works out in time.

And we are off! I cannot believeit is the weekend already, and I am definitely not complaining. This week just flew by and Patrick surprised me once again with a visit home (gosh I love it when he is home). I will be working most of the weekend but hope to enjoy some down time with the pups, friends and hopefully make it pool side one of these days and of course a lot of barbecuing. I just love any excuse for a good barbecue (especially the chips and dips and a Tank 7- I am a beer girl at heart). Although I will not be heading to the lake or jet setting to the beach for the weekend, I do want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. What kind of fun plans do you have set for the long weekend?
