MONDAY MANTRA

This is going to be a great week! Not only did I decide on Friday to wake up with a new outlook on the new year, but my momma is coming to town. Insert: excited cheers! We are super close and while I love living in Dallas, I miss living near my family. I actually haven’t lived in the same state as them since I was eighteen (when I moved away for college) but the older I get the more envious I become of my friends that have parents around the block or at least in driving distance.  The idea of Sunday brunch, pop-ins, and spontaneous mani/pedi appointments sounds magical. While I can dream of all these lovely things, at this point, living close to my parents is out of the cards. For now, I will just enjoy our vacations and keep my fingers crossed for “one day”.

A GIRL AND HER BOOTS

Ali Schilling in Justin Boots

My uncle always told me that until you have your first pair of cowboy boots, you are not officially a Texan.  He was born and raised in Austin, Texas and I have always adored his southern accent.  Every year since I was a little girl we would visit Austin in the summer for two weeks.  This is where my love for Texas (and fashion) started.

The 4th of July may just be my favorite holiday. Not just because I love a good grilled hot dog, fireworks or spending endless hours in the pool, but I love sporting my red, white and blue.  This year we are headed down to our families ranch outside of Austin for some good ol’ country fun (and I am guessing a few too many glasses of rosé).

Since we will be spending most of our time outside in the Texas heat I decided to stop into Old Navy to find some American style.  They always have the best selection of nautical and holiday styles. I scooped up this navy and white shift dress, this red and white striped tank and these cute linen shorts. Want to know the best part? The entire store is 60% for the All American Summer Sale.

TRAVEL DETAILS: THE 4TH

LoandSonsBag4th of July

You might be reading this while I am in the car roadtrippin’ to Austin for the weekend to celebrate the 4th of July.  The is the start to one crazy July for me, which includes living out of a suit case for pretty much the entire month.  This weekend, I decided to pack light and fit everything into my Lo and Son’s Catalina bag. You’ve heard me talk about my love for my Lo and Son’s bag before, but it is seriously my go-to when packing for overnight trips. My favorite is the bottom zipper compartment because I can fit 2 or 3 pairs of shoes, and some of my beauty products which keeps the top compartment organized.  The worst part about packing an overnight bag is feeling like you have to throw everything out of your bag just to find that one top (I know you guys are with me on that one!).  Since this weekend is all about the red, white and blue, I decided to keep my wardrobe very patriotic-chic.  I told you in this post, my closet is lacking the red department, but I figured some NARS Lipstick and a few bracelets will do the trick!

I hope all you lovies have a happy and safe holiday!  xox.

Weekend Uniform- Farmer's Market

My attempt at an “artsy” weekend was somewhat of a success.  Since it rained on and off the majority of Saturday, Patrick and I stayed inside and listened to music, mostly the Lumineers, and I attempted to pull out my watercolors.  This ultimately turned into me not finishing the painting I started, but that’s the typical.  That morning we got ready to go to the farmer’s market, but of course the moment we walked out the door it started to rain.  Needless to say, I have no pictures of pretty flowers or fresh produce that I had planned on taking at the market, but instead here is what I wore

throw on a casual sweatshirt like this zoe karssen oh la la sweatshirt (she is my new fav.)

add a little floral to your jean shorts with this current/elliot pair

put on these jack purcell’s– everything is better in converse

grab your metallic iphone case– it’s only $14, what a steal

place these aviator sunglasses on your head in case the sun comes out

Carry this great tote from an awesome boutique in Austin, Texas called By George (my family would be proud)
