As soon as December hits, I find myself in full on hibernation mode and wearing only the softest pieces. Think cashmere sets, cozy socks and a really warm blanket. Add a holiday movie and a fire and I am set for the entire month.
Soft, luxurious, and oh so, cozy–the first things that come to mind when I think of cashmere. Parents and grandparents can be hard to shop for and I’ve found giving cashmere is always a hit! Whether it’s a classic crew, a cashmere wrap, cardigan, or even gloves, this is a gift they will absolutely love. Garnet Hill has the best selection of cashmere and with 25% off and free shipping, holiday shopping is going to be very easy this year!
Maybe it’s the new year or the weather here in Dallas, but lately I am only inspired the classic pieces in my closet. This means, it’s time to do another closet clean out. The idea of purging isn’t necessarily to create room for new items (however this is always a plus), but more about only having things in your closet that make you feel good on the inside and out. For me, this means finding easy outfits in my favorite quality fabrics and colors.
With holiday parties galore, its can be a little stressful deciding what to wear. This week we had a black-tie holiday party (I wore this dress), my last dinner club of the season and tonight we are going out with Mackenzie and her boyfriend for a festive dinner! Coated denim are one my favorite things to wear this time of year. They are still as comfortable as wearing your favorite pair of denim, but they instantly dress up any outfit. This pair in particular is my favorite because they hug in all the right places (thanks Spanx!). Never in a million years did I think I would need to wear Spanx but they just seem to smooth everything out. ;)
On another topic, are you guys in love with this necklace as much as I am? My dear friend Summer is an incredible jewelry designer based in Dallas and she makes the most amazing hand crafted pieces. A few of you have asked where I got these tassel earrings, well they are from Summer. The best part, those tassels come in just about every color. I spent over 30 minutes picking mine out. After wearing mine for the last couple months, I think I have to get them in black and white too! You can find most of her work here, Blueprint in Dallas or schedule an appointment to her showroom to see all of her amazing work. If you are in still need of a nice gift for your mom, all of Summer’s work would make for a very special gift!
For me, this year is all about focusing on my signature style. Being a blogger, I am constantly finding inspiration, watching trends and trying to stay up with the newest and best products, but honestly I love a simple outfit that is elevated with classic accessories. Do you feel the same?
Note: Keeping things simple does not make you boring. Being able to re-wear clothes in your closet is the most important thing (because lets be honest, no one can afford to wear something new every day). My goal this year is to show all of you how to wear your basics while still keeping them fresh, on trend and a little different than everyone else.
If you have noticed since the new year I have been on a monochromatic kick. Being only 5’2″, a single color elongates your figure and keeps me feeling comfortable throughout the entire day. Adding texture and layers rather than color allows you to add something unexpected to a neutral look.
