Finally, it is here. What is here, you ask? Sweater Weather.
With the weather being more than mild around this neck of the woods, I haven’t been able to wear my new sweater. I picked up this loose fitting turtleneck during the Shopbop sale and I have been waiting for the perfect moment to wear this stripe number. This weekend we ventured out for date night at our neighborhood favorite on Friday and when the weather is below 70, anything goes :)
While the holiday is not one of my favorites (I know, I know- I just hate the whole costume thing), I do love passing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos. We are in a new neighborhood this year and I am excited to see who stops by! We may have gone a little overboard on the candy with anticipation for lots of trick-or-treaters.

TGIF! I feel like I blinked and it is already Friday! Anyone else feeling this way? I think it might have to do with my extra busy schedule this week and my upcoming birthday next week. Like I said yesterday, we are heading to San Francisco to celebrate this weekend. I have been once and Patrick has never been to San Francisco, so I would love all the recommendations you have!
Now onto this darling dress. The shirtdress may be one of my favorite styles. The fit is so easy and they never go out of style. When Micaela Meyer reached out with her #perfectshirtdress, I was more than ecstatic to try it out. Micaela has been perfecting the shirtdress for years thanks to her father’s love for bespoke shirts. Her attention to quality is what makes these dresses “extra” special. I was torn between two styles when picking out my first shirtdress from the collection. I am wearing the Kensington in pink, but after seeing Krystal in the Mayfair, I think that is my next one on my wish list. I have been wearing the Kensington dress non-stop, even at home when I am sitting at my computer. It reminds me of when I would wear Patrick’s giant button downs in college. His shirts are too big for me to wear outside of the house, so this is the perfect alternative :)
Anyone else thinking how is it could only be hump day? This week is moving at a snail’s pace and I am ready for the weekend. Since yesterday felt like it should be Friday, we headed out for a date night. I have been loving this off-the-shoulder top. I mean, stripes and off the shoulder, its a win-win in my book.
Dior ‘So’Real’ sunglasses are having quite a moment in the fashion (or fashion blogging) world. The Dior ‘So Real’ Sunglasses have been popping up all over the internet thanks to my girl, Olivia Palermo. Last year, I splurged on my first pair of Céline sunglasses for my birthday and with my big 2-7 in less than a month, I am itching for another new pair to add to my rotation. I first fell in love with this pair when my friend, Merritt picked them up at Fashion Week this winter. Do you have a favorite pair of sunglasses that I have to know about? If I could, I honestly would buy ever style of Célines… a girl can dream right?

I remember sitting on my best friends bed watching this movie for the 1 millionth time. It was one of those movies that made you feel like life couldn’t touch you. Maybe it was the fact that I wished I lived in California or that I wanted to be a professional surfer, but I will never forget those moments with my best friend. It’s hard to explain, and granted I was 15 years old (and oh, so emotional), but those quiet moments watching movies and listening to music were the ones I will never forget. It has been almost 10 years since high school, but it feels like these memories happened yesterday.
It’s something I hear (and you probably hear) on a daily basis, but what does it really mean to be authentic? Being true, telling the truth even when it’s hard, and accepting that everyone is not perfect. Those are the things, for me, that make an authentic person. Just a little something to think about today…
Instead of heading to New York for Fashion Week this season, I am swapping it for a quick trip to sunny Scottsdale. As much as I would love to be spending my days running around the city bundled up and freezing, I am even more excited for some wedding planning and some Valentine’s day fun with my fiancé.
After a whirlwind of holiday and post-holiday travel, we finally spent an entire weekend in Dallas enjoying every ounce of sunshine. I walked the dogs by the lake, enjoyed brunch with Patrick outside at our favorite weekend spot, and spent the nights cuddled up on the couch with a good movie. It’s the simple things, right?
Talking about simple things, this outfit has been on constant rotation in my closet. Can you guys tell how much I am loving this black on black look lately? Oh, and my New Balance trainers have become quickly become a favorite closet staple. Especially, on the weekends.
I hope everyone has a fantastic week, and for my East Coaster friends, try and stay warm out there. :) Also, be sure to stop by on Wednesday for some really exciting news that I have been dying to share with you! Stay tuned!
In honor of the cold front that just hit Dallas yesterday, I thought it was only right to share these pictures from our trip to New York a few weeks ago. I know for my fellow midwesterners or east coast people, they cringe at me saying cold front (especially with temps only in the high 30’s, trust me I remember those -45 degree days in Ohio last year) but apparently my body has reverted back to my southwest roots.
The first day Patrick and I arrived in New York we ventured from SoHo where we stayed to the Upper East Side to pick up Patrick’s tuxedo for the wedding. I mean really, who doesn’t love a guy in a tuxedo. On our way we got a little sidetracked turned around when we got off on the subway so instead we started our day on the Upper West side right on the edge of the park. It was only fitting that Patrick’s first New York moment was in Central Park. It had been snowing earlier that morning so there was a gentle dusting on all of the trees. As we took in all of the beauty, we slowly strolled though the park, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city around us.
