It’s all in the details…

Planning a wedding from another state can get tricky (read my tips on why to hire a wedding planner over on Style Me Pretty). Thankfully, I had an amazing wedding planner who kept me on track during the entire process.  From the venue to the flowers to the photography, Jen got my vision and made it come to life.  It was the little details that our photographer (and now friend), Elyse captured that I constantly find myself looking back at and smiling. The best part, instead of worrying about those little details the day of the wedding, all of our vendors allowed us to completely enjoy the entire day with family and friends.

View More: have been counting down the days until I was able to share these pictures with you.  A few months ago, Patrick and I made a quick trip down to Scottsdale for a special, top secret engagement shoot with the fabulous Elyse Hall.  Our wedding planning process has been so special, and it’s people like Elyse, that make me want to keep planning this wedding for a lifetime (but we are officially 30 days out for the big day and I could not be more excited to marry my hubby-to-be). View More: More: More: More: More: More: it comes to planning a wedding, one of the most important things for us (minus a meaningful ceremony) was the photography.  Thankfully, I have an amazing wedding planner, who you all met in the last Style Me Pretty post, that she narrowed down my search to five photographers.  I searched high and low on Style Me Pretty , Pinterest and their individual websites to find that “something special.”  Elyse, definitely has that something “special” factor. That may be an understatement.   She finds a way to capture a couples’ love in every shot she takes. Her ability to create a piece of art in every photo may have something to do with her background.  Elyse graduated college with a Fine Arts degree from ASU and has many years of professional photography under her belt.  She shoot in both digital and film, which for me was so important.  When you are on the lookout for a photographer, this is so important.  Let’s just say film is everything.  :)

So now onto the actual shoot and what I wore, because we all know that is SO important.  I get questions all of the time about this topic, and every time I laugh because even I struggled when it came to deciding on what to wear for my engagement pictures.  So for me, I started with my favorite designer, Heidi Merrick.  She makes these amazing California-cool pieces that are extremely wearable. Heidi is not only a sweet as could be, but she helped me pick out a few looks from her new collection.  I ended up with this white dress (in my opinion, every girl should were a casual white dress in their engagement shoot),  my favorite Drake stripe tee, and this black gauzy dress (insert hands in the air emoji). View More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: More: over to SMP to see the rest of the engagement shoot, and to read my chat with Elyse Hall Photography.
