The summer months always seem to fly by and before I know it, my favorite holiday is around the corner. I know it may be cheesy but ever since I was little I have had an infatuation with the Fourth of July. Maybe I love a good theme, or that it is appropriate to have more than one hot dog in a sitting, but the entire week leading up to the Fourth makes me feel like a giddy school girl. For me, the Fourth marks the  official kick off to summer and those long weekend days catching rays by the pool (and maybe having a few Greyhounds).  Back in the day, my cousin and I used to coordinate our outfits for my favorite day.  Just think, denim with bleached out stars and red-white stripe shirts, jellies and some sort of giant hair bow or matching Old Navy stars and stripes bikinis.  Now-a-days, I like to go with a more subtle way of supporting the USA.  This year we are headed to Austin for weekend getaway and an all day cook-out. I know it’s going to be warm, so I opted for something light and simple.  These checked navy shorts paired with a flowy white top, and red nails and lips are a subtle way to sport the patriotic theme.   Keeping your look simple, and adding a few patriotic accessories is my favorite go-to look. You also could never go wrong with a good stripe…You guys know how much I love a good stripe tee.  :)

If you take peek into my closet, you would notice a sea of solid colors.  It’s not that I don’t like pattern, but lately I have been focusing on investment pieces.  To me those investment pieces are a perfect white blazer, super soft tees, killer heels, and a lust-worthy handbag; items that can be paired together and worn all of the time. I have started to build up a wardrobe I enjoy looking at everyday. With that said, I knew I was missing something in my closet. Pattern and texture are the perfect additions to a classic wardrobe. Rather than investing in trendy styles, I stuck with a classic silhouette. I liked these Equipment tops so much, I bought three of them; two patterns and one solid. These shirts can be worn on a night out with friends, to work with a pencil skirt, or even with a pair of jean shorts. The silk makes it dressier than just a normal tee, but still casual enough to throw on with a pair of gladiator sandals for a put together day-look. Is there something you feel you are missing from your closet?

For me, there is nothing like a warm, sunny day.

My mood is completely affected by the weather, maybe it has something to do with growing up in a state where I was completely spoiled by Mother Nature.  As I get older, the more conscious I am about my skin.  I will be honest, never in a million years did I think I would say that. I am fortunate to have olive skin and spent most of my childhood outside in the sun. What I never realized is how it would affect me today.  I can’t reverse what I did to my skin back then, but I definitely can make a better effort to protect it now and hopefully save it from those sun spots and wrinkles later in life.

Wondering why I am bringing up skincare? Well, this amazing dress is actually made with UPF 50 (Yep, you heard me right, it contains ultraviolet protection factor). When I found out about Mott 50, a brand of stylish sun protective clothing, I knew I needed to learn more about the company.  I knew sun protective clothing existed, but I always thought they were just made for the beach, like rash guards and ugly board shorts. So, when I found cute, high quality clothes that protected my skin and would actually wear, I knew this brand was a winner in my book.

So, while I am hopping around town in my cute striped dress, I can feel good about protecting my skin at the same time. See, it’s a win win.

We are officially less than a year away from the big day.

So today I thought it would be fun to kick off the first in a series of Wedding Details (this is especially for all of you who asked after this post). I thought it was only fitting to show you a sneak peek at how I asked my (9) bridesmaids because this past weekend they all said yes!

I found these craft boxes at Paper Source, about 4 months ago and have been holding onto them until we finally had a date set.  I knew I wanted to use them for the gifts and when I saw these mini bottles of POP champagne, I knew it was the perfect way to POP the question to all of my girls.

It has been almost 2 months since we packed up and moved to Dallas and we have been exploring our new city ever since that day.  We have yet to try the same restaurant twice, but there are a few things that are starting to make this city feel like home. Coffee and running outside are two of those things for me.  My favorite coffee shop is right by our house and has the most delicious homemade almond milk latte. Oh, and did I mention it has a perfectly curated selection of some of my favorite brands and coffee table books.  As of late, my morning routine consists of a pit stop for coffee before sitting down to work at my desk. This has made it easier to get up and get dressed in the mornings. One of my favorites recently is an easy white linen tee, white denim and a light weight scarf.  Shawl Smith London has some of my new favorites, like this one and this one.  They are perfect for throwing on over a summer dress or a casual white tee for a pop of color.  Thanks to my friends at Shawl Smith London, they are offering all A Dash of Details readers 25% off your order by using the code: SSL25. “I think you will agree that life’s plans are not always tied up in neat little packages. Occasionally we find ourselves at unexpected crossroads with more than one opportunity from which to choose. Time itself is often the best indicator of which decision to make, for it can tell so many thing that are now hazy.”
― Linda Lee Chaikin

So I am here today, at a crossroads.  But then again, I guess that is pretty much every girl in their mid-twenties .  Whether you are living in a small town and wanting to get out, or feeling alone in a big city; that feeling of what is next lingers in your mind. For me, it consumes my thoughts.  I know I have so much to be grateful for; I am happy and healthy, about to marry the man of my dreams, have a wonderful job and blog that I love, but yet everything else in my life feels a little like chaos. So today, I am going to take a deep breath and realized everything works out in time.

Welcome back, February. I am welcoming you with open arms and lots of love, but please, bring me some warmer weather.  :)

This month is already off to a great start.  We had the most exciting and productive trip to Arizona this past weekend, which resulted in crossing some very important wedding to-do’s off of the list.  Oh and not to mention, finding any reason to leave #littlelovenotes for each other the entire month.

ADOD_LATELY02_03ADOD_LATELY02_03-2We found these amazing Moroccan inspired pieces at one of our potential wedding venues this weekend.

ADOD_LATELY02_03-4Magazine hoarding is one of my weaknesses, I have been flipping through to get some major inspiration for Spring (it really cannot come soon enough!) and a little addition to my Spring wardrobe thanks to Big Buddha.

ADOD_LATELY02_03-3In order to not get overwhelmed and to try and take it one step at a time, I have not allowed myself to buy any wedding magazines- that is until yesterday. Now that we have secured our planner (I cannot wait to introduce her to all of you!), it is time to fill my brain with inspiration.  Don’t worry, I won’t bombard this space with all things weddings, but how would you guys feel about a few posts here and there?

ADOD_LATELY1-25-6After a week away from the blog, I am finally back and with lots of updates. Last week I had a mini meltdown mostly due to complete exhaustion and being sick. Working full time, blogging, starting to plan a wedding, and still trying to have a life, really caught up with me; resulting in a total breakdown. Instead of pushing myself like I normally would, I decided to take a break from all the extras, focus on work and go to bed early every night. Yesterday was the first day I finally felt back to normal. Thankfully, woke up feeling completely inspired.

Also, a little side note: *I am still getting used to this new blog format and just realized that you can no longer follow me on Bloglovin’ without re-subscribing, so here you go folks- use this link to follow me on Bloglovin’. I guess it is better late than never :) Follow my blog with Bloglovin

ADOD_LATELY1-25-3That feeling of complete exhaustion started with a trip to NYC to fulfill my MOH duties for my cousin’s bachelorette party, and boy, it was great time.  I made these tote bags with each girls’ initial embroidered in her wedding colors, a bottle of champagne, a few of my favorite Essie polishes, and all sorts of pink/red lipsticks that were stuffed inside. There were lots of other fun activities, but what happens in New York, stays in New York :)

Is anyone else sick of this cold, dry weather yet? I have been dreaming I lived in California at the moment, but until that day I have been using this Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask to keep my skin healthy and smooth.

ADOD_LATELY1-25-5A few recent favorites- these Zara booties and a little lace (just in time for V-Day)

ADOD_LATELY1-25-4I think you know by now, but Patrick and I love to travel. Currently we are planning our trips for Spring (6 and counting…) Oh, and a little bubbly engagement gift from a friend.

ADOD_LATELY1-25-8I have been sipping on this lately, kind of obsessed with this grapefruit fizzy water (which is a great alternative to soda, a bad habit I am trying to kick for good)
