ALL AMERICAN STYLE

White Linen Shirt and Bright colored scarf

When you think of all American style, what brand comes to mind?  If you are from the East Coast than many of you would think of the brand, J.McLaughlin.  The brand was started by two brothers in 1977 in Manhattan in the quintessential Upper East Side. The brands classic take on current trends is what led to their success and expansion into Texas and now 100 new stores. To me, the brand is the epitome of Southern classic style.  Last week myself, Mackenzie and Amanda hosted a shopping and dinner event in Dallas with a few friends to check out the new Summer/Spring collection.

LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

Loveyoufriday-50

Woo! It’s Friday and I could not be more excited!  Anyone else feeling like April is just flying by?  This week has been full of fun events and I sort of feel like a chicken with its head cut off!  Tomorrow I am hosting the very first Style Saturday at NorthPark Center! Find out all of the details in this post.

On another note, this month is Patrick and I’s first anniversary.  It is so crazy how fast this year has flown by because our wedding feels like yesterday.  Next week I will be posting some fun wedding things and tips for you bride-to-be’s out there!

Whole 30 update- So I have to be honest with you guys, I decided when I started the Whole30 that I wouldn’t cut out alcohol.  Hear me out, the reason why I started this process was to feel better, and guess what I am on Day 19 and feeling great! I never had any intention of cutting out my occasional glass of wine, but I did have every intention of cutting out dairy and grains from my diet completely even after the Whole30 program was over.  So I will tell you, this Tuesday, I went to a wine dinner with The Everygirl and Kendall Jackson Wines. It was amazing and the tablescape was incredible!  Want to know the hardest part of the night, saying no to the chocolate ganache.  I don’t even like chocolate, but I guess my sugar cravings are still there.  I kept on track with my eating this week even in social settings.  I have to say that is definitely the hardest part of this entire program.  I am 100% an extrovert, and being with people gives me energy, but being difficult at a restaurant is so embarrassing to me.  The only thing keeping me going is that in the end I know it’s worth it.   I passed the halfway mark and I have to say, I think I am going to continue eating this way after the 30 days is finished.  Maybe I will cheat every once and a while, but I have more energy, my face feels brighter, and my health has done a 180.

A few of my favorite go-to recipes this week:

Cauliflower Fried Rice

Turkey Meatballs with Zoodles

Crock Pot Salsa Chicken on Cauliflower Rice with Spinach

Favorite Snack: Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Love you, Friday!

Treat Day: English Crumpets

My grandma called yesterday to let me know she was having a Royal Watch Tea Party with all of her girlfriends.  I thought it was so darling! I sent her this recipe from Always with Butter for crumpets (the American equivalent to english muffins). They look delicious! I hope you enjoy your tea party, grandma.

Happy Friday: A Fairytale Wedding

This honestly was a fairytale wedding.  I think my brain knew what was happening at 3am this morning because for some reason I hopped out of bed like it was time for work. Needless to say, I saw the whole fairytale pan out.  The dress, the lace overlay…to die for. Hope everyone has a royally wonderful Friday!

Are You Ready?

I am excited to watch the Royal Wedding this weekend, although I am not one of those crazy fanatics that knows all the ins and outs of the Royal family and I may even have to record it, I don’t know if 4am is in the cards for me! Do you have plans for a fun Royal Watch Party?

An Easter Brunch

This is the first year I won’t be going home for Easter, so I thought I would throw my own Easter brunch.  Here is my inspiration for the decorations and table. I really love the muted colored eggs. They seem to be a little more sophisticated than the pastel colors that are normally associated with Easter.

Happy Friday + Treat Day

Happy Friday Everyone! Instead of treat day today, I decided to make it beer day.  With March Madness in full speed, beer was more fitting for this day than a treat because tonight my roomate and I are having our first watch party.  With that said, I have alot to get done! Take P to the airport (lucky duck is going skiing for the week), make some finger foods for tonight, and finish painting our newly upholstered chairs. It’s going to be a fun day!

So, the story on the beer comes from when P and I went to Vail last Spring Break and we came across this local tasty treat on the mountain.  I think I really like it because of the packaging and I think P likes it because one of the flavors uses his last name.  :)

Have a great weekend!
