We have quite the ritual when it comes to Christmas morning at my family’s house. First, we all wake up extremely early (we still believe in Santa around these neck of the woods). I normally make everyone a few cups of coffee/hot cocoa, dad starts the fireplace, and momma organizes all the presents accordingly. One of my favorite things is opening our stockings, now that I am older I only ask Santa for one small gift every year and it always ends up in my stocking (isn’t that nice of him?). We wait until all the presents have been opened and the big pile of wrapping paper is picked up. Then one by one we each open our stockings.  Normally, Santa fills each of them with our favorite things, mine contains no candy (only mint gum). Yes, I know I am weird for not liking candy, but I just have never been a fan.  Instead I can find anything from Essie Nail polish to my beloved David Yurman Bracelet (a gift from a few years back). After all the presents are opened we make pancakes and cinnamon rolls while listening to our favorite Christmas Playlist.  So I want to hear from you, what are you favorite rituals when it comes to Christmas Morning?

GIFT GUIDE: FOR THE LITTLE ONES

While I do not have kids of my own yet, I do have lots of little friends I will be buying gifts for this year.  Baby and kid gifts are just too fun because there are so many great options at all different price points.  

When I was little, every year I had to pick one big item to donate to charity during Christmas. There was one year in particular I will never forget. I decided that year, my bike would be the thing I would give away. So the week before Christmas, my dad took me down to the homeless shelter and I gave my favorite pink bike with a big red bow to a little 8 year old girl.  While this may have been her only present that year, it is a memory I will have for the rest of my life and it will be something I will pass onto my kids. The second part of the story, is that year Santa I would bring me a brand new big girl bike (of course it was pink).

Some of my favorite gifts are the practical ones. I love giving and receiving beauty products during the Holidays. Not only are they kind of expensive (for the good stuff) but it is something I really just dislike buying. My mom always spoils me with a stocking full of new nail polishes instead of candy.   Since they are small, beauty gifts seem to make the best stocking stuffers (don’t worry, I have an entire Stocking Stuffer Guide for next week with lots of great, wallet friendly ideas) and really who doesn’t love making someone feel pretty. GIFT TAGS

In the spirit of the holidays, I decided to get a little crafty this year and create some custom gift tags.  As I was shopping on the Plaza last week, I decided to pop into Paper Source, which is one of my guilty pleasures that is on the Country Club Plaza.  If you have never been in before, they not only have the most beautiful paper and stationary you have ever seen, but they have these cute “kitschy” gifts for all occasions. These little note pads from Rifel Paper or this funny coal chewing gum would make the perfect stocking stuffers.   

Paper source has the cutest Holiday wrapping paper like this one, but I decided to go with a simple design this year and use this.  It was only $5 dollars a roll, and I bought this red and white baker’s twine that was under $10.  I have yet to finish wrapping all of my gifts, but I found a little greenery from my backyard and tied it up with the gift tags I made.
