Hostess Gift Guide

The beginning of December means only one thing; holiday parties. I never want to show up empty handed so I rounded up a few of my favorite hostess gifts just in time for the celebration to begin. I love putting together a little package, whether it be a bottle of wine and a cute opener tied to the top, or a candle with a match box; these small gifts will be a huge hit!

Gift Guide Shop Small

One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is support small and local businesses.  I love the personalized touch small shops do to make their guests and shoppers feel extra special. Whether it be a hand written note or pretty wrapping, my favorite small shops go the extra mile. Don’t get me wrong, the ease of a one-stop shop like Nordstrom or Amazon is great, but there is something special about supporting those in your community.

Holiday Gift Guide for HerAre you ready? Santa’s workshop (aka, me) has been working day and night to find the best gifts for everyone on your list. Today is the first of 20 gift guides coming your way and tons of holiday content. I know sometimes the holidays and gift giving can be so overwhelming and stressful (ie. your bank account), so I curated guides for every occasion (think: white elephant, DIY gifts and experiential gifts).  You do not have to spend a ton of money to make someone feel special, but just in case you want to, we have that covered, too. ;)

Avocado Toast

Love you, Saturday. Boy am I glad it’s the weekend.  I am officially a week into my new job and with that comes a new routine. I am still getting used to waking up before the sun comes up (I needed 2 cups of coffee this week…oops!) and fitting in all the things on my to-do list. Someone once told me, with change comes growth.  I am really looking forward to these new changes.

4th of July

My husband always laughs at me because I love a good reason to dress for a special occasion. Whether it be a concert, holiday or backyard barbecue, I love than nothing more than having a reason to wear something other of my normal neutrals.  Also, what better reason to buy something new than a festive holiday.  Here is my guide to all things Red, White and Blue.

Tuckernuck / Solid and Striped One Piece / Yosi Samara Slides / Mar Y Sol Pouch (under $50!) / Marysia Swim Antibes Bikini / Saint James x J.Crew Stripe Shirt / Pool Float / Matching Set / Chambray Neck Scarf

There is nothing I love more than dressing for an occasion. Especially when it involves stripes and my favorite color combination. Memorial Day is around the corner and I am so excited to celebrate in style.  I will be sporting this bathing suit, my favorite cutoffs, and this white linen shirt for our friend’s pool party and then switch into some stripes and a pair of white crop flares for night.

This time of the year can get pretty hectic and with only 10 days left until Christmas, the hustle and bustle in this city is electric.  I have said it before, but I just love this time of year that we decided to start a new tradition. My mom and aunt came to visit Dallas for a weekend full of shopping, wine and a great time! You know the saying, shop until you drop; well that was us.  I think we hit almost every shopping district in this city.  We took a few breaks for bubbly, Diet Cokes and a little fuel to get us through the days.  In addition to checking off everyone on our nice list, we decided it would be fun to find a few things for ourselves along the way.  My mom and aunt found these adorable over the knee boots while I lusted over these classic Stuart Weiztman OTK boots.

Off topic, but do you live in the same town as your parents? Sometimes I wish my parents lived down the street.  It was so fun to have my very special house guests this past week/weekend. If I wasn’t going to see them in less than a week, I think I would be having some major Wednesday Blues (thats a thing, right?).

Today is an extra special day.  Not because Christmas is only 4 days away or that tomorrow marks one year of being engaged, but because it is someone special’s birthday.  We have been celebrating all weekend with fun dinners with friends, holiday parties, and lots puppy snuggles.  I am a pretty lucky girl to have found the love of my life and to be celebrating six birthdays together.

Each year at this time I love to look back and reflect on where I was the year before and think about how much has changed, how much has stayed the same, and all of the experiences I have to look forward to for the next year. Last December 22, Patrick and I were snowed-in at Patrick’s parents house in Kansas City with a little dose of the stomach flu. It was one day before I said yes to spending the rest of my life with the most amazing man. We were currently living in small town Ohio, and getting ready to start our year of adventure.  If you follow us on Instagram, you would notice 2014 was our year of traveling, moving, and lots of changes (but honestly I wouldn’t have it any other way). In between weekends traveling to Toronto, New York, Boston, San Diego and so many others, we took a leap of faith and moved to Dallas to take on the biggest adventure of our lives.  Within 2 weeks, we moved cross-county, found a house and started new jobs. We are still learning everyday how to make Dallas our home, but  I love this is the place we are putting down roots.

We have so many exciting things happening in 2015 that I cannot wait to share with you soon! But until then, I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday with family and friends. I am so thankful for all of your support over the last 4 years, because if it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be A Dash of Details.  :)
