I may be suffering from those post-vacation blues, but looking at these pictures has never made me so happy. I just got back from a 5 day trip to Nantucket. Mackenzie and her family have been vacationing on the island since before she was born, so I could not think of a more perfect host to show us around her favorite place. I was lucky enough to visit Nantucket with her and Amy last September, but this was the first time Patrick was able to see this very special place.
This post was the perfect time for an embarrassing story. Because whether I like it or not, these stories are now a part of my life (especially a topic of conversation in the summer months).
When it comes to finding a favorite shirt, I have a bad habit of scooping it up in every color. This gingham boyfriend shirt has been a staple in my closet for the last 6 years. Yes, 6 years! Thanks to J.Crew, every year I seem to add a new color combo to my collection. I now have four of the J.Crew boyfriend button down because they are the perfect fit. The lightweight material and slouchy fit seem to work great on a petite frame.
Whether you are ready or not, the holidays are here! Thanksgiving weekend is over and it is time to start your list! Whether you are naughty or nice, I have a few things you need this Cyber Monday. Be sure to check out my Gift Guide for more great deals!

There are a few items that have made it to the top of my ever growing Fall wish list. These five brands and items are some I have been lusting over for the last year and are back in style again this year.
If you have been following me for more than a few months, you know I have an obsession with my tan clutch. Well, if I could I would have this flat clutch in every color and pattern. I especially love this perforated one. The best part, its on sale!
There really are only a few things I can think of better than a cashmere sweater. J.Crew has made the perfect ones, especially for petite girls like me. Oh, and if you know me, I would be fine with only wearing black cashmere sweaters the entire winter.
If I could only wear one brand of jeans for the rest of time, it would be Frame. For some reason this brand works for petite girls and tall. They are kind of like magic (kind of like the sisterhood traveling pants).
What are your fall favorites this season?

Honestly, I hardly wear a skirt these days. I have always been more of a pants girl, even when I worked in the corporate world J.Crew Minnie pants were my jam. I had them in EVERY color because I honestly wore them Monday-Friday. Now my days are now filled with mostly jeans and lulu leggings so when I have the chance to dress up sometimes a skirt is just what you need to feel a little girly.
Being on the short side, okay let’s be honest the really short side of life, I always ruled out the midi skirt out of my wardrobe. I thought they would just make me look like my legs were shorter than they already are, but this skirt changed everything for me. I have always lusted over the famous Tibi midi skirts and they are now calling me name.
We have had quite the Wednesday routine as of late.
I have been like a little energizer bunny these last few weeks, especially when it comes to Wednesdays. Patrick has been traveling for work for the last 4 weeks, so our morning routine starts extra early on these days. I have been waking up at 4:30 am on the dot every morning (note: this is so not normal for me). I have been taking advantage of this extra time that I can’t sleep to work out, write and edit blog posts, send emails from bed, and cuddle with the pups. The early morning wake up call may have something to do with the ever growing to-do list sitting on my desk.
The thing is I am the furthest from complaining because everything on the list is either a fun, exciting projects, wedding things, or part of the job that I love to do. So I am going to just take advantage of my early bird status and rock it until it becomes a real problem. Has anyone else out there had trouble staying asleep at night? Any recommendations?
January was extremely busy for both Patrick and I. Great things are happening so we are both not complaining. He has been traveling more for work and I have been using most of my free time to focus on the blog. That being said, we always find one night to go out, keep our phones out of sight and just focus on each other. We have a few go-to spots in Dallas that we make it to on the regular.
The Porch: Our weekday, weekend, pretty much any day of the week go-to date night restaurant. If you can’t tell, we just love this place. When it is nice, we love the casual patio and share the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Cobb. You will die and go to heaven when you try this.
Deep Sushi: A total hole in the wall in Deep Ellum. We love the dark ambiance and hustle of the sushi bar. The secret: the amazing off menu rolls that make your mouth water.
Toulouse: French Bistro style restaurant with great outdoor seating on the edge of the Katy Trail. We love to cuddle up at a small two person table, share cheese plates galore, wine and watch the people running by. Also try the gnocchi, its heavenly.
Knife: Maybe it is because we spent a special birthday/anniversary of our engagement here, but it is sure one of our favorite steak houses in Dallas. We love the low-key vibe of the restaurant inside The Highlands Hotel (used to be the Kimpton Palomar). Sit by the bar for a drink before, the swanky decor will make you want to cozy up.
Trinity Groves: A collection of 6 different restaurants with a perfect view of downtown. Our current favorite is LUCK for beer and a sandwich. You will not be disappointed.
If you can’t tell we love to keep it casual, but every once and a while it’s fun to get dressed up for no good reason. I rarely wear a skirt anymore (just because the nature of my job and casual lifestyle), so when Patrick suggested date night this weekend I jumped at the opportunity to throw on this flirty skirt and leather jacket combo.
After a whirlwind of holiday and post-holiday travel, we finally spent an entire weekend in Dallas enjoying every ounce of sunshine. I walked the dogs by the lake, enjoyed brunch with Patrick outside at our favorite weekend spot, and spent the nights cuddled up on the couch with a good movie. It’s the simple things, right?
Talking about simple things, this outfit has been on constant rotation in my closet. Can you guys tell how much I am loving this black on black look lately? Oh, and my New Balance trainers have become quickly become a favorite closet staple. Especially, on the weekends.
I hope everyone has a fantastic week, and for my East Coaster friends, try and stay warm out there. :) Also, be sure to stop by on Wednesday for some really exciting news that I have been dying to share with you! Stay tuned!
