Fall Style Details

For the past couple days I have been stalking the runways and street style at New York Fashion week and I am loving what I am seeing.   J.Crew used “real” models in their presentation and of course, it was SOO GOOD. This was my favorite look and I am going to be buying these shoes next season. Club Monaco showed their first ever collection during NYFW and it was epic. The Fall 2016 Ready to Wear line was shown in the center of Grand Central Station. The full volume sleeve sweaters were my favorite in the collection.  My wallet is not going to like me this season (insert monkey emojii here).  On a different note, The Row kept their presentation intimate and full of mystery. Vogue gave a sneak peek into the show which included hand written invites and branded coffee cups. Trés chic.

4 cities, 3 weeks, and some amazing experience that I have been wanted to share with you, but it just has not felt right. I can honestly said after writing this post and reading all your kind and generous messages, I have had a hard time posting about trivial things. Even if these are things I love like fall fashion, my wedding planning or my recap of NYFW.  It just didn’t feel right to me until today.  I know you will understand.

Stay tuned today for my first NYFW recap, I am so excited to share about my amazing experience in New York. I am filled with so much inspiration and I can promise you that with all bad things, there is a bright light looking down on all of us.

Doesn’t this outfit just scream Fall?  There is something about a tan and navy color combination that feels so classic and makes me want to go apple picking.  I scored this amazing real leather skirt from one of my favorite top designers at TJMaxx when I was in Dallas.  If you live anywhere by Northpark Mall in Dallas, you much stop across the street for some amazing deals. The largest Runway section I have ever seen!  The entire women’s and beauty department was full of the brands I would buy full price, but literally at a fraction of the price. If you were checking out my instagram, you may have noticed the leather jacket I scored for under $150 (yes, this was a true #maxxinista find).

When it comes to leather I am very picky. I am all about texture and quality when it comes to all of my clothes, so finding this leather skirt at TJ Maxx is everything.  It feels as soft as butter and the color will work for any occasion. This designer find can be dressed down with a gausey sweater, like the navy one I am wearing above, and some booties.  Or to dress up this look, I would pair my new favorite skirt with a black silk blouse, textured jacket and a great heel.  The trends this Fall are all about mixing textures and volumes, so I love that this classic silhouette will allow me to mix and match with some of my favorite cable knit sweaters and structured tops.

Another trend this Fall is the All American look (or what I like to call: the 90s are back). During 2013 F/W NYFW many of the top designers were featuring this trend. To add a pop of color and pattern to a mostly neutral look, I suggest tucking in a plaid button down top into a leather skirt to give the look a little edge. I always try to give each of my classic looks a hint of edge and leather is the perfect way to do this. This black quilted leather skirt (from TJ Maxx online) would also be a great ways to give an All American look a little bit of Rock and Roll.

When I wear a neutral outfit, I am all about the red nail.  I found this color in the beauty department and knew I just needed to have this vibrant color in my collection. Another fun thing I found in the beauty department last week was my favorite pumpkin spiced soaps. I love adding a seasonal touch to my house with festive hand towels and hand soap for our guest bathroom and kitchen.

Expressing yourself through fashion, and knowing how to put together a great look—at great value, is what being a Maxxinista is all about.  At T.J.Maxx you can score the unexpected to make your own personal style statement. Here’s to rockin’ your real deal.

Although NYFW is officially over, all of the fun doesn’t stop here.  When Glam asked me to review there new GLAM Style App, I just knew it was going to be something spectacular, because let’s be honest- they are awesome. Thanks to the new app, this entire week I was able to get the inside scoop on what was happening in New York from some of my stylish friends, top style makers and designers. If you have 3 seconds today you should download the app here for free.  Some of my favorite articles to point out are Jenna Lyons style tips, Lela Rose’s famous biscotti recipe, and the ever hilarious, Hallie Wilson’s survival tips. The app even lists the best hotels, restaurants, and night life scene to be spotted at in NYC.  Since I know I will be in NYC come this February, I will definitely be using these tips and tricks for my first go-around at Fashion Week.  I am sure there is going to be great content to follow this first edition, so be sure to download the app for insider info on interviews with experts, fashion trends, events and more!
