This month Patrick (my hubs) and I celebrated nine years together. It still feels like yesterday when he tapped me on the shoulder in Math 201 for my homework answers ;) So romantic right?!
All jokes aside, to celebrate we decided to bring our date night outdoors. The weather in Dallas has been exceptionally nice, so naturally we popped open a bottle of rosé and enjoyed some light snacks before heading out to a casual dinner. Both of our schedules have been exceptionally busy the last few months, so it was nice to catch up (sans phones), relax and enjoy the beautiful weather during the middle of the week.
Oh, Spring. You are by far my favorite season.
Fresh flowers blooming, the perfect temperature to spend all day outdoors (well, if you live in Dallas), and lighter layers and flowy dresses. For these simple reasons, Spring has always been the season I feel refreshed and recharged.
ICYMI, I was on #springbreak last week in Maui– I will be recapping our incredible trip soon, but it honestly was the perfect way to reset the year and come back home feeling inspired and ready to take on the world.
Being someone who would rather wear jeans over anything else in her closet, I still have trouble finding that “perfect” fit. So this year it has been my goal to purge my jean drawer and find five pairs of the perfect fitting denim. I have been doing some major research (read: shopping) to find my favorite pairs for this season and beyond. While the fashion guru’s say skinnies are out and straight leg are in; I am still not convinced and my skinnies are here to stay.
Happy Halloween, friends!
While the holiday is not one of my favorites (I know, I know- I just hate the whole costume thing), I do love passing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos. We are in a new neighborhood this year and I am excited to see who stops by! We may have gone a little overboard on the candy with anticipation for lots of trick-or-treaters.
Denim and Stripes. If you ask me, there is really nothing better than this combo. The classic styles are both in heavy rotation in my closet. Honestly, you will most likely find me in some version of this outfit more than once a week. :)
One of the biggest denim trends this season is the uneven hem. For someone who is petite (5’2″ to be exact), it is so hard to find crop jeans that actually fit above the ankle. Instead of spending $$$ on a pair of denim that might not work, I partnered with Old Navy for a little DIY denim project.
Keep reading to find out how to create the uneven hem denim look for under $50.
If you know me, you would know there is nothing I love more than a classic tee. I am always on the hunt for the best fitting tee on the market. Whether it be $100 or just $5, the fit and quality are the most important when it comes to finding the perfect tee. So when I heard Old Navy was reinventing the fit, fabric and wash of their tees, I knew I had to give them a try. Needless to say, Old Navy’s tee are anything but basic. I am so excited to have teamed up with Old Navy to style their #neverbasic tees two ways.
While the East Coast is buried in snow, Dallas had some pretty mild weather this weekend. I am really hoping this is the start of an early Spring here in the Texas. As the years pass (from my time living in the midwest) the more I realize I am meant to live in the South. Sunshine really is the key to my happiness or I guess a lot of Vitamin D.
Before the warm up this weekend, Dallas was frigid. well…I mean it was in the 30s, but it was the perfect reason to pull out my teddy coat. Can I tell you guys a secret? This coat was only $21. I found it when browsing for Christmas PJs for the family and was blown away by the quality. It was warm enough to wear in the mountains during New Years with a chunky sweater and the perfect weight for our moderate Dallas cold. I also love wearing white jeans in the winter. There is something so refreshing and unexpected.
While I hope this is the last time I will be wearing my teddy coat this season, I know it will be a perfect addition to my closet. Really, who can pass up that crazy deal.

The 4th of July may just be my favorite holiday. Not just because I love a good grilled hot dog, fireworks or spending endless hours in the pool, but I love sporting my red, white and blue. This year we are headed down to our families ranch outside of Austin for some good ol’ country fun (and I am guessing a few too many glasses of rosé).
Since we will be spending most of our time outside in the Texas heat I decided to stop into Old Navy to find some American style. They always have the best selection of nautical and holiday styles. I scooped up this navy and white shift dress, this red and white striped tank and these cute linen shorts. Want to know the best part? The entire store is 60% for the All American Summer Sale.

Today deserved an update. Between the start of our summer travels, getting back into a normal life routine after the wedding (it seems to be taking longer than I imagined), and spending as much time outside as possible, life has been quite the rollercoaster. Last week, Patrick and I ate, drank and danced our way through Nashville.
A few stops we made on our trip:
The Pharmacy: Best burger and tots, and not to mention the darling branding. Nashville just gets me with all of their quirky, retro design.
Jeni’s Ice Cream: One word: heaven
The Flipside 12 South: Who would have thought you could come up with 20 different fried chicken sandwhich combinations? Order the Big Fix, and you will thank me later.
Las Paletas: Hands down the best popsicle I have ever had.
Pinewood Social: If you’re looking for a place to spend the day, this is your place. Bowling, bochee ball, craft cocktails, and great music. We spent hours sitting outside and taking in the surroundings.
Broadway Street: You can’t go to Nashville without making a pit stop on Broadway for some great country and millions of tourists. If you are anything like me when you travel, this was a short stop on our tour.
After the wedding my parents drove our gifts from Scottsdale to Dallas, along with a few things from my childhood. Apparently I had a major obsession with Trolls (anyone else?). I am slowly going through the boxes and laughing as I travel back in time to the 90’s- talk about all things Lisa Frank, Pogs, Barbies and rhinestone covered dance costumes. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it :)
I was sad I wasn’t in Scottsdale to celebrate Father’s day with my dad on Sunday, but thanks to Personalized Creations I found the perfect gifts for my grill-lovin’ dad. Here’s a peek at the personalized cutting board I sent to him. They make the cutest gifts for every occasion.
My summer makeup routine is a simple as it gets. Thanks to my lasting tan from Costa Rica, I have been wearing these SUGAR lipsticks from Fresh and a spritz of my signature scent before heading out the door. They have just the right amount of color but keep your lips moisturized throughout the entire day. It has been too hot and muggy (thanks to the crazy rain) in Dallas to spend time putting on makeup. Because who likes melting makeup face? :/
I picked up this dress from Old Navy on sale last week. It is perfect for these hot summer days, and would make the perfect casual dress for a 4th of July party. Just add some red accessories and you are set!
