If this day could not get any better, it just did! Today is the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (insert extra smiley emoji here).  This sale is my favorite time of the year to stock up on great investment pieces like handbags, beauty must-haves, dainty gold jewelry and classic tops and jeans.

Since I knew the Nordstrom sale was starting; a few weeks ago I took a long look at my closet and realized it was time for a major cleanout. Those outdated college clothes that I kept holding onto and never wearing (some things have been in the back on my closet for 10 years…yikes!) are finally in better hands! It felt so good to purge and start fresh.  For the last 2-3 years I have really focused on investing in classic colors and styles, and now that my closet is a little slimmer, I was finally able to see the missing items in my closet.  In the next few months I hope to invest in some light summer dresses and skirts, booties for Fall, and a few new denim styles.

The Nordstrom sale can be a little overwhelming. My advice is to stay focused on your actual needs rather than making a bunch of impulse buys you will later regret. I made a list of what I need and then only searched for those specific items.  It kept me on task and my wallet (fairly) happy.

If you are a card holder, you can shop early until July 16th. If not, you can scope out your must have items and hope they are still there in 8 short days :) Good luck and happy shopping!

Can we be real today?

Okay, good.  This week has really just felt a little blah.  I spent most days either at my computer working until all hours of the night/morning, in bed, or eating pizza on the couch (insert monkey covering his eyes emoji). So to be completely honest, my life was anything but glamorous this week.

It doesn’t help that it has been raining for the last 2 weeks in Dallas- it is just really killing my vibe. This long weekend could not come at a better time. Me and my husband (still getting used to saying that word :)) decided to stay in Dallas for the weekend. We have been living here for over a year, but due to our crazy schedules, planning a wedding out of town, and our love for travel, we haven’t found the time to explore our own city.

If you live in Dallas, please send your recommendations on places we have to go, try or see!

A little side note, there are so many amazing sales going on this weekend. So while you are laying in bed on Sunday morning, this is the time to scoop up some must-have items for Summer!

Anthropologie has prints galore on sale- this weekend is an extra 20% off with the code GONEFISHING

JCrew: 30% off your entire online order using the code WEEKEND (have you seen the new arrivals? I want need everything)

Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly Sale.  You do not want to miss this. Head here to see my top picks.

Neiman Marcus: Holy Moly. 40% off some amazing summer essentials!

Madewell has some great basics! 30% off using the code SWEET.

This Dallas weather is throwing me for quite the loop. Last week it was in the 80’s and today the 30’s. Being this is our first winter in Texas, I have been going through my closet trying to make some room for pieces I know will be in constant rotation throughout these mild (or so I thought) winter months.  One of my favorite trends, as of late, is the oversized vest-coat.  I picked up this Theory vest a few weeks ago and have since become obsessed. I have been wearing it everywhere this week; to the grocery store, out to lunch, and even on date night. Pretty much the perfect thing to throw on over any outfit.

I also might be late to the game, but I just recently found a new love for J.Crew denim.  Talk about fitting like a glove, these black jeans are a new favorite of mine. They have the perfect amount of stretch, but don’t give you saggy knees (I hope you know what I am talking about) by the end of the day.  The best part is everything is 25% off right now, so it’s even a better reason to buy them in every color.

* I know it is a little early to be talking about the Holidays but I just can’t wait. Stay tuned on Monday for my best ever Gift Guide. I have been working day and night to find the best items to buy this holiday season!

Theory Faux Fur Vest (20% off) / Tilly Sweater (25% with code: SHOPNOW)/ Lookout Highrise Jeans in Black (25% with code: SHOPNOW) / Wide Calf Hair Belt (25% with code: SHOPNOW) / Kate Spade Clutch (old/similar here) / Madewell Bracelet (old/similar here) / Catbird Rings / Essie Lollipop / Rag and Bone Newbury Booties (my favorite)

Happy Friday! and Happy Shopping!

As I get older, I have been working on filling my closet with less clutter and more investment pieces that are timeless and classic.  Investment pieces typically come in the form of an expensive price tag, so I am always on the lookout to find a killer deal.  If I know there is an item I have been saving my pennies for, I constantly stalk the site to see if it goes on sale, but half the time, I end up forgetting about it and it goes on sale and they are out of my size (major problems).

Thanks to Ali and Bri, the founders of the new website Rack It Up, all of my problems were solved.  The site, allows you to track all of your favorite items in one place and alerts you when the items go on-sale in your size! You not only get notifications when the price drops, but you can also name your price for the item. This is great for me so I am not tempted by an item if the price isn’t just right.  My favorite part of Rack It Up, is you can follow your friends favorite items too! Have a friend with killer style? You can re-post their item onto your board.  My closet is already full of some of my favorite summer must-haves, so be sure to add me to your followers!

This post is brought to you by Rack It Up!

Are you an early bird? I totally wish I was able to sleep in, but I think as I get older I have inherited my parents early rising skill/curse. I have always been a morning person, even before my coffee, but some days I just wish I could stay in bed.  I don’t know about ya’ll but when I wake up, I have to get out of bed or else my mind races until I start stressing about everything I need to get done for the day or week.  Since I do have a full time job, most of my blogging “work” happens during the weekends or at nights, so even on Saturdays when I try to sleep and relax, somehow my mind wakes up racing a mile a minute.  It is not all a bad thing though, typically most of my inspiration/goals/aspirations happen in those early morning hours when it is quiet in the house, and I have no distractions.

Remember when I told you this blog was going to be changing a little since the big move? You have probably seen more of me than ever before, so I have to ask… are you liking the outfit posts?  Not only is this blog for me, it is for all of you so I want to make sure I am putting out content that you enjoy reading.  As I approach the three year mark on A Dash of Details, I have to ask… Is there anything different you would like to see on this blog?  For the last couple months, I have been working on making some changes to make this blog even better and I would love to hear your input.

So first I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. This blog started as a hobby and escape from my first boring desk job, and now has become my a huge part of my life. I love sharing all of the details of my life on this blog and as I continue to learn and grow, I want to keep sharing with you in my little corner of the Internet.

Back to the weekend links after my long ramble!

This week I found this recipe for an Autum Couscous on Pinterest (this is a must try for next week’s lunches)

I am loving Lindsey’s new site for Caviar Taste, Tuna Fish Wallet (how cute is that name!)

While I am not in the market for a nursery, I love how Taylor Sterling and Caitlin Flemming designed this small space.

I am still in the market for leather leggings, I just can’t seem to take the plunge.  Shopbop is having a SALE on tons of options.  I am loving these, these or these.  I know they are an investment piece (meaning not cheap!) but Anna has talked me into not going the “faux” route.

While I am on the top of SALES, GAP is having a crazy sale on denim. These are a must have for anyone who is petite (use the code GAPFRIENDS), don’t miss the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale- this is the perfect time to get a head start on your holiday shopping list or just a few gifts for yourself!  I am crushing on this Michael Kors watch, this puffer coat (this will be my first!) and these for the snow next week!

Happy Weekend!
