LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

DL1961_14

Today I was supposed to be on the sitting on the sandy beaches in San Diego with my best girlfriends but due to some scheduling mishaps we had to reschedule our girls weekend. While, I am sad I won’t be spending time with my favorite girlies, I am excited to enjoy a casual weekend in Dallas. The only thing that would make it better is if we had a pool!

Happy Weekend loves!

TRAVEL DETAILS: SAN DIEGO

While almost every blogger I know is headed down south to my new hometown, I will be jet setting to San Diego for a fun-filled wedding weekend, with my MOH survival kit in tow.  I guess this being my first time as an MOH, I didn’t know what to expect, other than the fact that the bride-to-be is not only family but one of my best friends.  Naturally, a destination wedding called for some major shopping sprees (and thanks to the Shopbop Sale, I scored almost everything I needed for the weekend). I plan on wearing crochet cover ups and cute swimsuits during the day and flowy dresses with my new favorite sandals at night. I am just so giddy thinking about this long weekend.

Growing up in the South, I didn’t know it was actually possible for temperatures to drop below freezing. Yes, I used to think 32 degrees was as cold as it could get.  So when I looked at my phone this morning, -12 degrees was a bit shocking to say the least. I am slowly learning these cold temperatures are not going away anytime soon, hence trips to warmer weather are already on the books for the next few months. While we are headed to warmer temps on the weekends, I am still stuck in the cold during the week. So to make it a little more bearable, I am slowly filling my closet with a few  cold-weather essentials.  Hats, gloves, snow boots, and my long down coat may not be the most fashionable, but they sure are keeping me warm. I have found that layering and keeping it simple are my best friends.

My winter style has consisted of lots of basics. Since I wear jeans or J.Crew Minnie Pants to work almost everyday, I have been layering up my basic tees and sweaters with a fun statement necklace. If its a good day, I will even change out my snow boots for a cute pair of heels.

Stay tuned for tomorrow, someone special is making a guest appearance on the blog with his cold- weather essentials.  :)

LATELY

I don’t know if it is just me but Monday came way too fast this morning.  I do not think it helped that we did not get home from our trip a little past midnight last night, but work does not stop for sleep. All I know is that I will be hitting the pillow very early tonight.  Our trip to St. Louis was such a blast but it went by WAY TO FAST! I love spending time with family, and laughing and listening to stories about things we did growing up and walking around my grandparents house to look at all of the histerical pictures from every year of my life.

Our family is really close, ya know the ones you see almost every day of your childhood. I grew up next door to one of my dad’s sisters and her family.  One of my cousins and I are just two years apart practically like sisters. We spent ever waking second together (mostly making up dances, if we were not at the studio). But now we live across the country from each other, she wins the cake for best location in sunny San Diego, but it is always so great to get back together and take a trip down memory lane.  The weekend was filled with lots of laughs, hugs, and kisses which in my opinion is the best kind of vacation.

Yesterday, we had lots of time at the airport, so I picked up a few September Issues to read on the plane and naturally I was bored so I painted my nails during our layover.  What are your favorite Fall trends so far.  I am loving the nod to the 90s, lots of fur, and the tartan trends for Fall I found in the latest issue of Marie Claire.

LATELY

Happy Monday! I am back at home after one fun weekend in San Diego.  There is seriously nothing better than catching up with friends you have known your entire life (and a few new ones).  We had just as much fun late night dancing in the hotel room, as we did out at the bars. A few of the bridesmaids made these darling gift bags for everyone with custom cups, tank tops and the best bachelorette hangover kit (that was definitely needed on Sunday morning).

Today definitely called for a Suja juice cleanse, and first up is Glow (I will let you know the verdict).  I may even try to do a 3-day cleanse to detox from the amazing weekend, but we will see how today goes. How was your weekend?

ps. check back later today for some big news!

LATELY

Well, I am finally back and am ready for a brand new week, maybe still wishing I was still in sunny San Diego. Let’s talk about perfect weather in southern California. This past weekend was full of sunshine, lots of love, and a wedding full of beautiful details.  From a gorgeous hotel, to amazing fresh food, poolside reading, and bridal suite primping; my week was full of some of my favorite things.

My first day was full of rest and relaxation at the pool in this new swim suit and my book (I know I am behind the times, but I love it!), Patrick and I enjoyed a day of exercise and a little shopping (I found this and this at Anthropologie), Friday was the ultimate girls day with a Mexican fiesta to kick off the wedding weekend, and the big day was spent in the bridal suite getting our makeup and hair done and spending a special day with the bride to be. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, down to every last detail.

BEACH BOUND

As I take off to San Diego for the weekend, I realized how many trips I have planned for this summer (thanks to P and the crazy amount of weddings we both have) we will be jet setting almost every other weekend until September. Starting last week with my trip to San Fran, I am back to sunny California for my cousins wedding. Thankfully I took off a few days early so I could enjoy some R&R on the beach.

I thought it would be fun to document my travels on the blog, so a few Travel Details post followed by some Lately snapshot posts will be popping up all summer long.

Our Travel Itinerary (Note: If you live in any of these cities, I would love some suggestions on restaurants, things to do, or favorite places to go because honestly we are pretty clueless when it comes to most of these places)

San Diego / Nashville / Los Angeles / New York / Austin / Scottsdale / Chicago

So to kick off the travel series with San Diego, there are certain travel essentials I always bring with me on every trip. A pair of jeans, white and grey v-neck tees, maxi dress, denim jacket, but when it comes to the beach my suitcase always gets pretty full of fun prints, too many swimsuits, the perfect hat, and a summer scarf for night.

Happy May!

DETAILS: THE BEADED CLUTCH

With Spring and wedding season approaching quickly, I am looking for a new Spring/ Summer clutch that will go with lots of different dresses and outfits.  Especially since I will be traveling for most of the weddings, I need to be savvy with my packing skills.  Yesterday I was reading With Love from Kat and she made a great packing list from her recent trip to Dallas.  I think I am going to try this for my upcoming trip to San Diego. Packing for five days usually turns into me throwing almost everything from my closet into my bag at the last second.  So this time I am going to try something different and see if it works. But any who, back to the clutch, this Floral Beaded Clutch from ASOS is screaming my name.  For the price it is a total steal and will make the perfect statement, while still being able to wear it most of the weekend.  Do any of ya’ll have a perfect Spring go-to?
