With holiday parties galore, its can be a little stressful deciding what to wear.  This week we had a black-tie holiday party (I wore this dress), my last dinner club of the season and tonight we are going out with Mackenzie and her boyfriend for a festive dinner! Coated denim are one my favorite things to wear this time of year.  They are still as comfortable as wearing your favorite pair of denim, but they instantly dress up any outfit.  This pair in particular is my favorite because they hug in all the right places (thanks Spanx!).  Never in a million years did I think I would need to wear Spanx but they just seem to smooth everything out.  ;)

On another topic, are you guys in love with this necklace as much as I am? My dear friend Summer is an incredible jewelry designer based in Dallas and she makes the most amazing hand crafted pieces.  A few of you have asked where I got these tassel earrings, well they are from Summer. The best part, those tassels come in just about every color.  I spent over 30 minutes picking mine out. After wearing mine for the last couple months,  I think I have to get them in black and white too!   You can find most of her work here, Blueprint in Dallas or schedule an appointment to her showroom to see all of her amazing work.  If you are in still need of a nice gift for your mom, all of Summer’s work would make for a very special gift!

Wish me luck. Tonight I am prepping for my first ever ‘Friendsgiving’ party.  I have been practicing a few of the menu items, but cooking for 12 people is quite the project to take on for one person. I have so much more appreciation for my mom and aunt now realizing that cooking for 20 people was no small task.

I remember sitting on the counter in my aunt’s black and white kitchen listening to good 90s tunes while watching my mom and aunt briskly move through the kitchen. I always waited patiently for the spoon to taste test the mashed potatoes. Of course,  always adding my two cents: more salt and pepper. I was seemed to sneak bites of everything before it was platted on the table. Honestly, it was always less about the food and more about the company.  We spent hours in that kitchen laughing and telling stories.  So many of the best memories are from those Thursdays.

This year I decided to start the tradition at our house. Since we are headed to Kansas City for Thanskgiving,  I wanted to make the Thanksgiving meal at home. Tomorrow, all of my girlfriends are headed to our house for champagne and hopefully a great Thanksgiving meal. If the meal is half as good as my momma’s, I will be happy. I plan to turn on those same 90s tunes and remember all of the great times we had together.

As far as an outfit goes, this is what I plan to wear.  Comfort is key when it comes to hosting at your house.  These Spanx Faux Leather leggings are perfect. They add a little something extra with an oversized sweater.  I love this poncho from Anthropologie. It has fitted sleeve that keep it from looking too boxy and the fringe adds a little fun!
