DIY Love Notes- Valentine’s Day Style

Every year I try and come up with creative valentine’s gifts for P and this year we decided to make something handmade instead of buying presents.  Two years ago, when I was abroad in Italy, he sent me 14 love notes to open everyday until Valentine’s Day (I know what your thinking… so romantic) He is really great at gift giving and I always try to step up my game every year.  I saw these cute handmade cards on Cupcakes and Cashmere and had the idea to do the same.  I can’t tell you what I am going to do with them or else it would spoil the surprise.  Until Valentine’s Day….

I found this tutorial on fake calligraphy here and also Mackenzie from Design Darling made a few of her own.

Buy a Pair, Give a Pair

During the Holiday season I always tend to “need” everything in site.  Well, that is not really the case, but I have been wanting a pair of glasses that speak to my sometimes quirky personality.  This seems like the best way to not only buy a present for myself but also give a pair to someone in need.  Warby Parker started in order to create “classicaly crafted” eyewear at affordable prices and to give access to millions of people without proper vision care.

I especially love that you can order 5 pairs to try them on at home for FREE! And for the holidays you can order your favorite 4 eyes person a set of 5 with a gift card for them to pick out their favorite pair!

Day 15: A Dash of Best Friends #3

Hi All- For Day 15 of 25 Days of Details I am so excited to give you a peek at one of my best friends wish lists for the holidays. My super chic and fun friend Caitlin started her blog Weeknight Wanderings when she moved from Kansas City to Chicago! Caitlin has the best style of anyone I know, she is classic yet is always fashion forward.  Naturally with our love for art and design, we met almost 4 years ago working at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, but most of our lunch breaks were filled with shopping and eating great food.  Her lifestyle blog is full of “wanderings” that inspire her, her love for design and anything fabulous.  I was sad to see her go but she is having so much fun living in the city in a new apartment.  Here are some of the things she would love to add to her digs this holiday season!

1. David Downtown ‘Master of Fashion Illustration’ Hardcover Book

2. Sophie Lounge Chair

3. KitchenAid Mixer in Ice

4. Johnathan Adler Pillow

5. French Urn

6. Handlebar Mustache Corkscrew

7. Mirrored End Table

8. Tea Pot

9. Sunburst Wall Art

10. Kate Spade 2012 Calendar

11. Theodore Antique Mercury Lamp

12. Hyacinth Candles

Day 10- A Dash of Comfy

Every Christmas eve the whole family is allowed to open one present and it always “happens” to be pajamas and slippers. This year I am hoping for this cute men’s inspired set from JCrew. You always need a good comfy pair of pjs to open presents on Christmas morning!
