Fresh Flowers and Framebridge Valentine's Day

With love in the air and Valentine’s Day around the corner, February is off to a great start. Honestly, I love any excuse to fill the house with pink and red M&M’s and heart shaped everything, but if I am being honest, I have always been less interested in the big gifts the holiday brings. We typically choose experiences instead of gifts around here, but this year we decided to stay home and I knew I wanted to find the perfect gift for Patrick. So, instead of planning a trip this year, I framed three of our favorite lighthouses we photographed this summer on Nanutcket with Framebridge  This summer was such a special memory and it brings us so much joy when we walk into our dining room.

Lingerie is my next love after clothing; I think it is what is worn underneath that really inspires a woman to feel beautiful in her clothes – that inner, secret glamour. – Alice Temperley

Thanks to all of our President’s for giving me the day off (or I guess to just work at home :o) today.

This weekend was spent trying to figure out a lot of “things”. (more to come on that at a later date). We had lots of dog snuggles in bed (oops!), some fun meals for Valentine’s Day and breakfast in bed on Saturday morning, and I even decided to pull out my KitchenAid yesterday to make some sweet treats. This may have been the most laid- back Love Day we have celebrated in 6 years, but it felt so perfect for us.

On a side note, we started House of Cards last night and to say I am hooked is an understatement. Does anyone else have these feelings? I am kind of obsessed already.

Hope ya’ll had a wonderful love-filled weekend and a Happy President’s Day today!

I told you earlier this week that I love the month of February, but the real reason is that I am a hopeless romantic, hence why I love Valentine’s Day.  It is not really about the day, the cards, or the gifts, but it’s just another way to show and tell my favorite people how much I really care about them.  Oh and the fact that I love arts and crafts.  My mom is one of the most creative people I know. Growing up, we would spend hours in her office/playroom painting and crafting. Because she used to own her own kid’s clothing company, she was always creating.  I am so thankful to have picked up this trait and love for creativity from her.

So, back to Valentine’s Day.  There is something so special about a scent that is unique to you. Back in the day (I am talking middle school days) Ralph Lauren, Romance was my scent. Today, I have a few scents that I love for different occasions. This is why I am completely in love with E&J’s Nirvana perfumes. Created by Mary Kate and Ashley, Nirvana embodies ‘duality of sophistication and feminine detail balanced with downtown edge and masculine tailoring’. Two very distinct scents; the white (my favorite for daytime) has touches of peonies, muguet, and musk and the black blends violet, sandalwood, and vanilla into the perfect scent for a night out on the town.

I have always been a fan of finding “new to me” brands, so when I was recently introduced to Jane Pope Jewelry, I knew I had to share.  Thanks to Chassity for showing off her cute new bar studs, I started browsing Jane’s online shop and I am hooked on these mini studs.  Being a lover of dainty gold jewelry, her designs are so simple, but in the most perfect way.  I mean, seriously how cute are those little lips for Valentine’s Day, or really everyday.  I think my first purchase is going to be the slate bar studs. They are the perfect, wear everyday earring.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your day is filled with smiles, cookies, and lots of lovin’.  I am excited to be spending the night with Patrick.  Our ideal date night is normally staying in, putting on our pj’s, watching movies (I normally fall asleep half way into every movie), and having a little treat like popcorn and Diet Pepsi.  So naturally, I was so excited when Diet Pepsi asked me to share something I love to do with all of you, so next Monday I will be back and you can check out all of the fun Patrick had during our Valentine’s Day weekend. We have a lot to pack into 3 days and I cannot wait to share with all of you.

Also, as an effort to #ShareTheLove, for every 50 repins this board gets on Pinterest, one of you lucky ducks will get a $50 gift card.  I will explain more on Monday, but how awesome is that?

So what are all of you lovies doing tonight? Staying in, girls night, date night?  We are snuggling up and renting a good movie. If you have any good movie suggestions, send them my way!

Make You Blush

So only around Valentine’s Day do I feel like its appropriate to talk about those cute little underthings. Not sure why, but maybe it’s just because I am a little immature. I’ll be honest, it almost embarrasses me to talk about lingerie on the blog, but I sure do love these pretty little underthings. I should start by saying that I actually do not own one piece, but brands like La Perla and Eberjey are making me reconsider just walking around the house by myself in some of these pretty things.

Did I tell ya’ll that I love Valentine’s Day, not because of gifts but because it is just a day that I can specifically tell everyone I love, how much I love them.  I am a pretty gushy girl, I never get off the phone without saying I love you, even to my best friends (sometimes I slip at work) Has that ever happened to you? Ya know, when you are trying to get off the phone really fast and it just slips out?  So embarrassing I know, but I accidentally did it to someone random the other day.

6 Things I Love

This year has been off to such a great start, and February is no different.  I was able to spend the first weekend of the “month of love” with Patrick (it had been almost a month!) and do a few of my favorite things that I will be sharing early this week.

I don’t know about any of you but I am super excited for the Superbowl. Well, really just the commercials and Beyonce, but I have a feeling I am not alone on this topic.  I normally host a Superbowl party every year and make a spread of all of my favorite snacks, but we are still waiting on our couch to arrive, so I decided to skip this year.  Another Feb favorite of mine is the Oscar Red Carpet. I mean, who can resist listening to Joan Rivers bag on the most beautiful people in the world and awing over the perfectly selected jewels.

But, who can forget the most loved/ hated holiday of the year..  There are so many opinions about Valentine’s Day, but I have personally always loved it even when I was single.  My parents always made Valentine’s day such a special day when I was growing up.  Most years it was heart patterned socks from my mom and flowers from my dad, they always knew how to make me feel especially loved on this day. The tradition has continued, but Patrick has taken over the duty of embarrassing me at work with flowers (even though I secretly love it).

Any who, now that I have rambled on for what seems like forever.  What is your favorite thing about February?  Sports, lots of kisses (maybe even chocolate), the Oscars, the new Spring lines… and the list goes on.
