Style Details No 203

Wedding season. For me this means four weddings, three bachelorette parties, a handful of rehearsal dinners and of course, the bridal showers and engagement parties.  If you are anything like me this year, your calendar is full of fun events for friends and family. That also means a lot of outfit planning in my near future.

Bride and Groom Kissing

It is crazy to think it has been two years since we said I do. It feels like yesterday, I was getting ready with all “my people” before walking down the isle to marry my best friend. Patrick and I have been together for nine years and today we are celebrating our second wedding anniversary.

Minted Bachelorette Invitations

I still cannot believe this year marks two years of marriage. It still feels like yesterday I was planning all those little details for our April wedding (along with my amazing wedding planner, Jen).  From the moment we got engaged, there was a sense of urgency to get everything accomplished all at once.  If I could have given myself one bit of advice, it would be to take your time and enjoy the process, be decisive and go with your gut!

Late Night Wedding FavorI cannot believe it have been 1.5 years since our wedding day. It really still feels like yesterday I was walking down the aisle in a white dress and eating these french fries in bed after the best night of my life.

Some days it feels like we have been married for a lifetime, other days just a minute. It is crazy to think it has already been one year since the best day of my life.  All I know is it has been the best year of my life and I can only imagine the best is yet to come.  Tonight we are celebrating our first anniversary with cake, champagne and a home cooked meal.

Happy Anniversary P, I love you.

Woo! It’s Friday and I could not be more excited!  Anyone else feeling like April is just flying by?  This week has been full of fun events and I sort of feel like a chicken with its head cut off!  Tomorrow I am hosting the very first Style Saturday at NorthPark Center! Find out all of the details in this post.

On another note, this month is Patrick and I’s first anniversary.  It is so crazy how fast this year has flown by because our wedding feels like yesterday.  Next week I will be posting some fun wedding things and tips for you bride-to-be’s out there!

Whole 30 update- So I have to be honest with you guys, I decided when I started the Whole30 that I wouldn’t cut out alcohol.  Hear me out, the reason why I started this process was to feel better, and guess what I am on Day 19 and feeling great! I never had any intention of cutting out my occasional glass of wine, but I did have every intention of cutting out dairy and grains from my diet completely even after the Whole30 program was over.  So I will tell you, this Tuesday, I went to a wine dinner with The Everygirl and Kendall Jackson Wines. It was amazing and the tablescape was incredible!  Want to know the hardest part of the night, saying no to the chocolate ganache.  I don’t even like chocolate, but I guess my sugar cravings are still there.  I kept on track with my eating this week even in social settings.  I have to say that is definitely the hardest part of this entire program.  I am 100% an extrovert, and being with people gives me energy, but being difficult at a restaurant is so embarrassing to me.  The only thing keeping me going is that in the end I know it’s worth it.   I passed the halfway mark and I have to say, I think I am going to continue eating this way after the 30 days is finished.  Maybe I will cheat every once and a while, but I have more energy, my face feels brighter, and my health has done a 180.

A few of my favorite go-to recipes this week:

Cauliflower Fried Rice

Turkey Meatballs with Zoodles

Crock Pot Salsa Chicken on Cauliflower Rice with Spinach

Favorite Snack: Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Love you, Friday!

The ceremony. During the wedding planning process, this was what I was looking forward to the most. It’s so easy to get caught up in the little details, the black hole that is Pinterest and comparing your wedding to those amazing styled shoots on Style Me Pretty.  But for me, I knew the ceremony was going to be my focus, because at the end of the day the flowers go away, the music stops and all you have left is the marriage.

It was a decision of ours to have our best friend officiate our wedding.  This was the easiest decision we made during the wedding process (and hiring Jen and Elyse were pretty easy (; ). So that handsome guy in the pictures above is our best friend, Phil.  Words cannot describe how much it meant to us for him to join us in marriage. It was such a personal experience that I will cherish forever and I am so lucky to have this memory. He has known the two of us as long as we have known eachother (7 years) and has been there through the great, the bad, the college days, the long-distance relationship, 3 moves, and now our marriage.  The ceremony was perfect (for us) and I am tearing up just thinking about how magical that moment was when I said ‘I do’ to my husband.

It’s all in the details…

Planning a wedding from another state can get tricky (read my tips on why to hire a wedding planner over on Style Me Pretty). Thankfully, I had an amazing wedding planner who kept me on track during the entire process.  From the venue to the flowers to the photography, Jen got my vision and made it come to life.  It was the little details that our photographer (and now friend), Elyse captured that I constantly find myself looking back at and smiling. The best part, instead of worrying about those little details the day of the wedding, all of our vendors allowed us to completely enjoy the entire day with family and friends.
