WHAT I’M PACKING: VAIL, COLORADO

Packing For Vail Colorado

A last minute trip to Vail popped up on our calendar and I couldn’t resist another opportunity to get in a little skiing and crisp mountain air. We are headed back to the mountains this weekend and I will be bringing all of my warm weather essentials.

STYLE DETAILS: OVERCOATS AND SWEATERS

STYLEDETAILS-COATSANDSWEATERSNothing new here, but a definite trend this winter is chunky sweaters and turtlenecks with an oversized coat.  All I want to think about is Spring lately, but we all know (at least for most of the country) that Spring is far far away. Most of our days will be cold, wet or snowy. I know it’s a little depressing to think about.

One of my favorite combos as of late, is my GAP sweater and an oversized coat.  Being, as my mom likes to call it, petite, this trend can be a little tricky for a small frame.  If there are other petite (short) girls out there, my suggestion is invest in tailoring. This, again, is something I learned from my momma. She is petite like me and also worked in retail during my childhood, so making trips to the tailor were totally normal at our house. Ever since she bought me my first pair of designer jeans the tailor has become my best friend.  For any petite friends out there, if you want to wear an oversized coat without looking like your wearing your dad’s jacket, I suggest getting the arms shortened, taken in a bit and hem the bottom of the coat to hit you at your best spot.

STYLE DETAILS: BUNDLED UP

Brrr… it is cold out. I think the cold front is just about everywhere right now, and I am not.a.fan. But I need to start sucking it up because it is not going anyway for a long time, so the only way to beare it is to be prepared with all the cold weather essentials.  Sites like Shopbop (70% all Winter Essentials!), Otte, and many more have all their cold weather favorites in one spot and I have been scooping them up one by one. For as long as I could remember, I have been against the long “puffy” coat because the fear I would look like a burnt marshmallow (anyone else have that fear) well last month I have finally caved and it has saving my life today. Let’s just say single degree temps are not my friend.  But instead of complaining, I guess it is just another reason to go shopping :)
