WEEKEND THINGS

Weekend Coffee

This weekend, we ventured downtown to switch things up and left feeling inspired.

Lately I have been a little inspiration rut. I don’t know if it’s the change of season or the fact that I just left one of the most beautiful places in the world, but I decided to do something about it this weekend. Yesterday, Patrick and I headed downtown early and grabbed coffee at Weekend and walked around the quiet streets downtown.  It’s funny what stepping outside of your normal routine can for your soul.

Four ideas for getting out of an inspiration rut:

DO SOMETHING CREATIVE

My friend Amy suggested that I pull out my watercolors the other day when I was feel uninspired.  Mixing colors and doodling helped me get creative.  I have also been needlepointing, which I find so relaxing.

GET OUTSIDE

The amount of time we all sit at our desks can be the main reason we fall into a rut in the first place.  Take some time and go for a walk. Bring a phone or camera and notice how many beautiful things are around you.

TAKE A YOGA CLASS

On Friday after work, I decided last minute to go to yoga. Letting my mind and body release and let go of that built up tension was the best thing I did for myself all week. It also gave me a new perspective on the weekend.

QUALITY TIME-UNPLUGGED

This is constantly something I think about and hear from others, but sometimes sitting on your phone scrolling through Instagram can instantly put you in a mood. There are a number of factors that play into this, but instead of spending time looking at what everyone else is doing on social media, unplug and spend time with those you love the most. I promise you will end up feeling more inspired.

I hope these tips help you feel inspired again, just in time for the new season!

On another note, I have to mention my earrings. Did you notice those pretty C’s on my ears? Well, they are from Switch. If you are not familiar, Switch is a membership based service with access to unlimited designer jewelry.  Think: Chanel, Dior, Hermes, and so many more.  It’s like playing dress up in your grandma’s closet.  You can use the code DASH50 for 50% off your first month! Next on my list are these earrings.
