“I think you will agree that life’s plans are not always tied up in neat little packages. Occasionally we find ourselves at unexpected crossroads with more than one opportunity from which to choose. Time itself is often the best indicator of which decision to make, for it can tell so many thing that are now hazy.”
― Linda Lee Chaikin

So I am here today, at a crossroads.  But then again, I guess that is pretty much every girl in their mid-twenties .  Whether you are living in a small town and wanting to get out, or feeling alone in a big city; that feeling of what is next lingers in your mind. For me, it consumes my thoughts.  I know I have so much to be grateful for; I am happy and healthy, about to marry the man of my dreams, have a wonderful job and blog that I love, but yet everything else in my life feels a little like chaos. So today, I am going to take a deep breath and realized everything works out in time.

Today is all about showing your love. It might sound cheesy but whether its a quick email to all of your girlfriends, a phone call to your grandparents or a little breakfast in bed for your guy/girl, today is all about telling those people how much you love them. So first and foremost, today is about showing my love to all of you readers! You are the one’s who drive me and the one’s who continue to keep push creative views. I really never thought this little space in the Internet would ever allow me to connect and make lifelong friendships that bring me so much joy everyday.

If you are wondering what yesterday was about….well, remember when I said when I moved to Ohio a few months back and I said we may be moving again soon, well that may now be sooner rather than later.  A lot of things are still up in the air as of today. I really try and keep it real over here. so I wanted you to be the firsts to know. Long story short, everything is going to change again in a big way.  Stay tuned for more details, but for now, today I hope you enjoy lots of pink and red, steal a few kisses or eat a few Hersey ones, buy yourself some flowers if you already haven’t, and share your love with people that matter.

Joules7 Joules11Joules15 Joules13Joules14Joules18Whenever I am in a wardrobe slump in the middle of a season, I always gravitate to a certain color palate.  In the beginning of the season, I was all about black on black, but these gloomy, short days have me feeling slightly depressed as of late.

Because we cancelled our trip this past weekend, it meant we had an entire weekend that was plan-free.  So on Saturday, we ventured out for a little shopping trip and picked up some tulips to freshen things up at the house. One of my favorite winter outfits is to layer vests under a jacket. Even after living in the Midwest for 8 years, I am still a complete wimp when it comes to the cold.

Growing up in the South, I didn’t know it was actually possible for temperatures to drop below freezing. Yes, I used to think 32 degrees was as cold as it could get.  So when I looked at my phone this morning, -12 degrees was a bit shocking to say the least. I am slowly learning these cold temperatures are not going away anytime soon, hence trips to warmer weather are already on the books for the next few months. While we are headed to warmer temps on the weekends, I am still stuck in the cold during the week. So to make it a little more bearable, I am slowly filling my closet with a few  cold-weather essentials.  Hats, gloves, snow boots, and my long down coat may not be the most fashionable, but they sure are keeping me warm. I have found that layering and keeping it simple are my best friends.

My winter style has consisted of lots of basics. Since I wear jeans or J.Crew Minnie Pants to work almost everyday, I have been layering up my basic tees and sweaters with a fun statement necklace. If its a good day, I will even change out my snow boots for a cute pair of heels.

Stay tuned for tomorrow, someone special is making a guest appearance on the blog with his cold- weather essentials.  :)

Yesterday was one of those days, just the two of us. To be honest, most of the time it is just the two of us (if you haven’t noticed already from Instagram).  Living in a town where we don’t know a sole except for co-workers and the next big city is a little less than an hour away, it is hard to meet friends. I guess it is just another sign of getting older, so for now it’s just the two of us and I am okay with it.

One thing is we both love is adventure; finding and trying new places, traveling, and stumbling upon those hidden gems in cities that only the locals know about.  So as the new year is well on its way, the jet setting continues… stay tuned because there are new and old cities on our list this year.  Next stop NYC.

The number one resolution for most people is kicking their workout routine into gear year after year.  For me, if I am feeling good while working out, I work out harder.  This may seem a little superficial but it works for me. I recently came across this new to me brand called Albion Fit, a company that strives on making quality, stylish workout wear.  It is the type of workout wear that you can be caught in all day long and not be embarrassed when you run into people at the grocery store.

To kick off the New Year, New You week, Albion Fit is giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky winner to start their year of working out on the right tract. Who says you can’t look good but still work hard!

Some of my favorites are the Retreat Tees (for the winter months and yoga), the Love Racer, these capris (love the girly touches), and this adorable tennis skirt. Albion fit is known for their attention to detail when it comes to workout wear. Let’s just say they know how to make a girl look good.

Follow the Rafflecopter to enter the giveaway, the winner will be announced on Friday, January 10th.

Since this week is all about starting off the new year in the right direction, Albion Fit is offering all ADOD readers 10% Off any purchase with code dashdetails10 at checkout (exp.1/9/2014). So start shopping, because there is no time like the present to start feeling good and looking good :)

One of my favorite things about the Holidays is being able to stay in my PJ’s all. day. long.  Since it is just my family during Christmas, we all love to lounge around the house, watch movies, bake cookies; ‘ya know the usual holiday activities.  Thankfully this year the gals at Subtle Luxury sent me over a pair of their “Pippa” Loungerie just in time for Christmas. One of our family traditions is to open one gift the night before Christmas, which always happens to be a pair of new pj’s. We all change into our new jammies and cuddle up to watch Home Alone with a cup of hot cocoa. This year was particularly special because Patrick was there to join in all of our traditions. There really is nothing better than a pair of super-soft pj’s, a new fiance, and all of my family by my side.

Christmas morning came early this year with a lovely 6:00am wake up call from my little brother singing “Jingle Bells”, but I would not have it any other way. Thankfully there was lots of coffee and cozy blankets involved as we all gathered around the tree to open presents. I hope you all had a wonderful, warm and safe Christmas with your family and friends.

These few days before the new year are meant for lounging, eating good leftovers (and cookies), and spending time reflecting on the past year. Cheers!

Just when I thought the snow was going to melt, it is back again! It definitely feels like Christmas around my town.  We ventured downtown to walk around the other night so I decided to bundle up to stay warm.  A side note: I never owned a warm coat, gloves (other than ski gloves), or a hat until 8 years ago. Since I grew up in Arizona, I never needed any of these “essentials,” nor did I ever think I would be bundled up with a giant scarf that was not just used as an accessory.

I love finding out about new brands and online websites and recently was introduced to Chichwish. It is an online shop that has everything and anything you could think of at affordable prices.  I found this chunky knit sweater, a pair of leather leggings (more on that in a minute), this amazing tartan coat, and there is so much more on my wish list.

I never thought a pair of leather leggings would end up in my closet. I guess times change because they are one of my favorite go to pieces as of late. I have been wearing them with just about everything. I love that they can be dressed up with a pair of heels or with an over the knee boot or even with my Converse. I was still hesitant to splurge, so I found this pair on Chicwish and I am so happy with their buttery soft feel.

Today is known as the busiest traveling day of the year. Thankfully this year I decided to beat the rush and head to Austin a little early. Last week I talked about my travel style but there were a few things that made this trip even better. Since it was freezing in Columbus (and actually Austin too!) when I headed out, I had to carry a jacket. This is something I do not typically do, but I decided on this trench so I could fold it up and put it in my bag during the flight. My new GIGI New York bag was the biggest lifesaver. Since I knew I was going to be gone for an entire week, I had to bring my laptop and charger. This meant I was not going to be able to carry on my typical purse. The Taylor Tote seriously changed my life. Not only is it sturdy enough to fit my TRUFFLE pouche, a scarf, and my laptop and charger, it is light enough that it didn’t weigh me down.

I especially love the gold monogram on the Taylor Tote, it just gives it a little special touch and also makes a great gift for the working girl or jet setter! Be sure to check out their site on Black Friday and Cyber Monday because they are going to have some deals you will not want to miss!
