Slowing down, embracing the calm, deep breaths and spending time at home…this is April.
The start of Spring feels a little different, but if “staying home” has taught me one thing : it’s to really appreciate the little moments and find joy in everything. I am feeling grateful for fresh air, flowers in bloom and spending this extra time with my little family. While there is a lot of uncertainty in the air I’ve never felt closer or more present. We are creating the most special memories together. Our sweet boy is changing so much everyday and I am not taking these fleeting moments for granted. Those smiles and giggles are everything.
We started our morning with coffee, a family dance party and some waffles. While the world feels chaotic outside, there is something so special about this time at home. I am really soaking up this time as our little family of 5. Hopefully this list will take your mind off of a few things while staying at home.
GET DRESSED. I have been working from home for the last seven years and my number one piece of advice is to get up, shower and get dressed for the day. Even if you are not going anywhere other than your sofa or home office. The outfit doesn’t have to be fancy. Mine looks like some version of this, these, this and these on the daily. Just trust me, you are so much more productive when you put on clothes and brush your hair. With a three month old, my schedule looks a little different than it used to, so I squeeze in everything between naps and sometimes I end up wearing leggings and sneakers (loving this colorway) until I find the time to fit in a quick workout. Also, I feel like it can’t go without saying, any of you mamas out there with toddlers or school age kids are rockstars during this time!
TAKE UP A HOBBY. To end your work day or keep things interesting during the weekend, this is the perfect time to try something new. I am thinking about pulling out my paints tonight. It’s been a minute since I poured myself a glass of wine and spent a few hours with my watercolors. A few other ideas: start a puzzle, order an adult coloring book, take up needlepointing, or read a new book.
MOVE YOUR BODY. I started testing out at-home workouts after I was cleared at my 6 week appointment and have been loving the Obe Fitness postpartum workouts and yoga.I just started incorporating some Dance Cardio into the mix and have slowly been hoping back on my Peleton. I am slowly easing back into daily workouts, but for all of you ready to get a good sweat, try Melissa Wood Health and Sculpt Society.
GET OUTSIDE. Take a walk, ride your bike or just step outside and take a few deep breaths. The fresh air is good for your soul.
RETAIL THERAPY. Granted, my days and nights are still a little sleepless as of late so I find myself window shopping at all hours. There are so many great sales happening right now and I cannot think of a better way to help support small businesses. A few to note: All Good Things, Weezie, Jenni Kayne, and The Tot. Share any other small businesses in the comments below!
WATCH SOMETHING. We have been watching A LOT of shows. I blame it on being new parents and enjoying just zoning out at the end of the day. A few recent favorites: The Banker, Little Fires Everywhere, Homeland, Yellowstone and A Million Little Things. Try a Nancy Meyers marathon for a little escape from reality. It’s Complicated will make you want to renovate your kitchen.
NEED SOME NEW INSPO: I love scrolling on Pinterest and saving pretty things. A few Instagram accounts to follow: @jillian_eversole, @nicolabathiemclaughlin, @hibcuslinens, @lucycuneo, and @bowsandblue
SELF CARE. I just posted my daily skincare routine. Since you may be working from home, try a new mask or take a long bath at the end of the day. Look on the bright side, at least your daily commute is much shorter these days :)

Well, it feels like some funny (okay, not funny) timing that just as I was ready to get out and about in the world again, we are stuck at home. Our little baby boy is three months today and I have all sorts of feelings. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Between the holidays, flu season and a few other personal circumstances, we honestly have spent much of the last three months at home. We really got a head start on this whole “new” normal everyone is experiencing around the world. So, this week I was going to finally start blogging on a regular routine again, creating some fun and exciting new content and I hope this space can bring you joy in a strange time.
Are you ready for a big life update? So, it’s been a minute and I think we last left off with me in my third trimester. Honestly, I feel so lucky I had minimal symptoms throughout my pregnancy, other than being super uncomfortable starting around week 37. Thanks to the advice of a few girlfriends; relaxing baths, lots of naps and medicine ball bouncing got me through those last few weeks of pregnancy. I think I was so excited to meet our little boy that I didn’t even mind the discomfort, but then again I am pretty sure I have already blacked out all of the pain that came along with being pregnant and delivery. What they say is totally true, because at the end of all of it, you get the most precious gift of all.
I have really enjoyed the quiet time during the last few months, I’ve learned how to slow down and really enjoy those in-between moments. We have spent a lot of our days taking walks (when it’s not raining in Dallas), playing on this mat, singing and enjoying all of the cuddles. I really am just trying to soak up every second. I have dreamt of this moment for so long and its even better than I’ve ever imagined. Our new normal is pretty different than my life before and I can’t wait to start sharing with y’all again! We have been cooking every night, taking my time and slowing getting back in shape, and dreaming up all the design plans for our new house. So while my outfits haven’t changed, my world is totally different and I can’t wait to take you along on the ride.
All this being said, I know all of us are currently living in an unprecedented and unknown time, a lot of you are working in new environments with kids at home, but I hope we can figure out this new normal together! So, I would love to hear from you…what do you want to see on A Dash of Details?

Our holiday was extra special with the arrival of our precious baby boy . FPS made his debut at the end of last month and we instantly fell in love. My heart has doubled in size for this little peanut. We’ve been soaking up all the late night cuddles and every little moment in between.
As our due date approaches quickly, today is all about Baby S! I honestly wasn’t planning on sharing our baby registry here on ADOD since this is my first baby and I am not sure what we will actually end up using/liking from our list. However, after a few email requests to share, I realized a lot of you are also pregnant and wanted to see our list of essentials. I rallied all my mama friends to compile a list of their must-haves. It helped me to create my ultimate mama-approved registry. I am so grateful to have so many friends that recently had babies (#1, #2 and #3) to navigate this new mom life stage together.
Hey August, nice to see you again. It’s my favorite month of the year for many reasons but this year feels different…it’s a little more magical. My birthday was the best way to kick off the new month and our a little announcement was just the icing on the cake. Although the temps are at an all time high, there is just nothing I love more than the summer sun, long summer nights, and the ease that summer brings before the hustle and bustle of the Fall.
I cannot thank you enough for all of the sweet calls, text and comments yesterday about our announcement. I read through every single one and got a little emotional thinking our little boy is going to be surrounded by so much love. I’ll just be over here living on Cloud 9 all weekend.
So, we’ve been keeping a little secret…Molly and Zoey are going to be big sisters!
Coming this December, our little baby boy will make his arrival and we are over the moon to finally share the news with all of you! Keeping this secret hasn’t been easy, especially hiding my tiny growing bump, but we are soo excited to take you along on this next journey. This is the best birthday gift I could ever have received…31 is off to a good start :)

Girls nights have quickly become part of our weekly routine. Whether it means ordering takeout, cooking a quick meal or getting fancy, we always seem to get a small group together for wine and a little mid week hang out. Making friends in a new city can be so hard and I am so lucky to have such a great group that took me in with open arms! Each week we try and come up with a quick and easy meal to try. Here are a few favorites and a few new ones to test out!

This summer is flying by and I can’t believe there are only two weeks left until my birthday (and the start of August). This summer has been a little unusual since we didn’t travel and I am really into my summer routine. Minus the fact that we can only walk before 8am and after 8pm because of the scorching temps, I forgot how much I love being in a routine. Work, pilates, weekly girls nights, tennis on the weekends, pool and repeat.
