If there is one coat in my closet that has seen the best CPW (cost per wear), it’s this one. It may not be the chicest or on trend coat, but boy it sure is warm and so versatile.
I bought this coat a little over 6 years ago when we were living in Ohio. My southern girl blood did not mesh well with the brutal cold of the midwest––bless all of you midwest gals (I still don’t know how all my friends in Chicago do it!). The only thing that got me through the winter was this coat. I honestly wore some version of this outfit everyday for four months out of the year.
When we moved to Dallas, I figured this coat would wind up in the back of my closet, but I end up reaching for it more than I would have ever imagined. It’s great for walking the dogs, running to the grocery store, or daily running errands when it is cold. If you can’t tell already, my love affair for this coat is real. The best is that it packs to almost nothing, so it is great for cold weather trips. I typically wear one of my wool coats on the plane and pack this one in my carry-on.
Another winter essential are Hunter Boots. If you would have asked me last year, I would have said they were terrible for the snow, but adding the shearling liners are a complete game changer. They instantly turn the chic rain boots into shoe boots.
