If you would have told me I would be drinking (and enjoying) a green smoothie this time last year, I would have told you, “you’re nuts!” But here we are in 2018 and I am a changed lady.
We are eleven days into the new year and I decided it was finally time to make a small change to my diet. I eat pretty healthy during the weekdays, but I was definitely not getting enough fiber and green veggies. First I should note, I am super picky about any type of supplement or powder. It’s a consistency thing. I also should note that I have been dairy-free for almost three years now and most of the good tasting protein powders contain whey. I have been reading Kelly’s blog, Be Well By Kelly for a few months now and my favorite takeaway has been the Fab4 smoothie. I decided this was the year I was going to give the green smoothie a try. I hope into Trader Joes last weekend and picked up all my ingredients: Avocado and MCT Oil (for fat), Chia Seeds and Flax Seeds (for fiber), Spinach and Kale (superfood greens), blueberries and acai (for a little sweetness), and unsweetened almond milk (for the liquid). I also ordered this Raw Beauty Superfood Powder after reader great reviews about the consistency and heath benefits.
GREEN SMOOTHIE (Modified from Be Well By Kelly)
A handful of spinach
1/4 of an avocado or 1 tbsp of MCT Oil
1 tbsp of Chia seeds and Flax Seeds
6 oz of unsweetened almond milk (I personally like this brand)
1 serving of Hum Raw Beauty
a few blueberries for sweetness
