STYLE DETAILS: NO. 196- LET’S GET PHYSICAL
The most common goal I hear year after year is: “This is the year I’m going to start working out.” Well, if this is your goal, I believe in the look good, feel good method. So, it’s time to stock up on some new activewear. I should mention, Style Details normally consists of items I want/need, but today is all about my ten tried and true products that I love and can’t live without.
- Tory Burch Leggings / 2. Nike Free Running Shoes / 3. PowerBeats3 / 4. Water Bottle / 5. Nike Pullover / 6. Outdoor Voices Bra / 7. Vyper Foam Roller / 8. The Beauty Chef Cleanse / 9. Agent Nateur Deodorant / 10. Monrow Sweatpants
This year #1 on my journey to wellness is to get in the best shape of my life. Anyone else?! I have always been pretty consistent at working out. From age two until 18, I was a competitive dancer, in addition to dancing, in high school I was a cheerleader, and in college I was so nervous to gain the Freshman fifteen that I spent endless hours on the elliptical machine (sad to say but the beer outweighed the workouts…hey it was college).
Post college I found a few open dance classes and then fell in love with Fusion Fitness in Kansas City. When we moved to Dallas, I tried all of the workouts. Seriously, you name it, I tried it! I got really into spin, then modified crossfit (more like high intensity interval training), then hot power yoga, then I hurt my hip and took a break. I rested my muscles and let my body heal. I was still active during these six months, but nothing super intense. Once I got back to 100%, I started taking Endurance Barre at Equinox, which is still my favorite class. Monica’s class makes me feel like I am back in the ballet studio. At the end of last year, I decided to make a change. I have had the BBG book for over a year (If you want to know what BBG is, click here). I did workouts here and there, but never stuck to the routine. So it has been four weeks and here is the breakdown of my new schedule.
MY NEW WORKOUT SCHEDULE
Monday: BBG and a run
Tuesday: Endurance Barre and a long walk
Wednesday: BBG and an interval run
Thursday: Endurance Barre and 30 minutes on the stairmaster
Friday: BBG
Saturday: Spin
Have any of you finished the BBG 12 week program? I feel like I am already starting to see little results from the workouts and my energy level is wayy up.
FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP FOR WORKOUT GEAR
Shopbop has the cutest activewear. I am obsessed with these sneakers. I want to try them before I give them a glowing review, but boy are they cute!
Outdoor Voices wins the award for best designs and colors. They really just get me. I have this set in black and navy and these two toned pants, too. I also have this style which I love for hot yoga.
Athleta is great for tanks and jackets. These crop tanks are my favorite.
Nordstrom has a great selection of Nike and Alo. I got this Nike pullover for Christmas and have been wearing it non-stop!
On a different note than clothes, but equally as important. This foam roller is EVERYTHING. Patrick bought it this past summer after reading endless articles about the benefit of foam rolling. I was skeptical at first because it is a little pricey, but I was so so wrong. I use it every single day.
xox- a dash of details
I love Barre too! It’s so fun and I’ve really seen a difference since I started going recently. Beyond Yoga leggings are great too, if you’re looking for a change. The spacedye ones are so soft! xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com
