There is nothing like a girls’ night to make the week just a little brighter. We started our Thursday girl’s night on a whim and it is for sure the best part of my week. It typically involves take out and a post-gym look, but sometimes it’s fun to jazz things up a bit. I invited the gals for a little pre-spring fling to use my entertaining pieces from Anthropologie’s new collection.
I can’t believe we are just a little over two weeks out from Thanksgiving. With the holidays just around the corner, our calendar is filling up with holiday parties and get togethers. Our first Friendsgiving is this weekend! This year I am creating my first ever gift closet with a few items to be able to grab and go if a last minute party invites comes our way. I hate to walk in empty handed :)
1. Candle | 2. Cozy Blanket | 3. Cocktail Glasses (bring a signature cocktail too!) | 4. Picture Frame | 5. Hors d’Oeuvres Bowl | 6. Cheese Knives | 7. Wine Chiller | 8. Coasters | 9. Bottle Openers (with a bottle of wine) | 10. Coravin | 11. Set of 4 Mugs (with a side of coffee) | 12. Sugarfina Bento Box
Entertaining is in my genes. My great grandma was the one who taught me the importance of sharing time with family and friends over a meal. Her number one rule was to enjoy the time and never stress about the little details. So, when Pier 1 Imports asked me to host a block party for some friends, I couldn’t wait to share the details.
Friendsgiving was a success!
Last night I hosted our first ever Friendsgiving complete with turkey and side dishes galore. Today definitely calls for extra cups of coffee. I may
or may not have had a few too many glasses of wine, but who was counting. If you follow me on Snapchat (AliLeighB) you may have seen my 14 pound turkey masterpiece! I credit the perfectly cooked turkey to beginners luck, but mostly this recipe.
It was such a great night with great friends! I will remember my first run at the Thanksgiving meal for a lifetime. I am by no means a Martha Stewart in the kitchen, but by some miracle I didn’t spill, burn or overcook anything. That was the biggest win in my book.
I wish I could have captured pictures of the food, but when it comes to hosting I like to put my phone away and enjoy the company. I had so much fun setting the table with our wedding gifts (the best thing: everything was dishwasher safe!). I decided to keep the decor simple so we could serve the food family-style. This slate board served as a great centerpiece for the turkey. Our table also only seats 6, so we added another table for extra seating. I also took away the chairs on the back and added this bench to fit three people comfortably.
I hope to make Friendsgiving a reoccuring event at our house, but I will be taking a break from cooking the rest of the week and enjoying leftovers! Let’s just hope I am not sick of turkey by next Thursday ;)
