Have you ever needed a bag that pretty much carries everything but the kitchen sink? Well, if you are anything like me, I am always looking for bag to keep all of my stuff together in one place. I have been trying to go straight to the gym from work, so my new “Ditty” tote has been a lifesaver. There is so much room to put my workout clothes, lunch bag, and even my purse inside. The best part it has a zip pocket so I can actually find my keys at the end of the day or class. Since it is super durable I can even put my Lulu mat inside.

If you haven’t heard of Hayden Reis bags, now is your chance. Emily, the creator of these amazing tote bags is a Florida native and was in need of a tote bag that was not only stylish but durable enough to take to the beach, pool, gym, or on her boat and that is when the company Hayden Reis was born. The bags come in all different patterns and colors, my favorite are the stripes.

So remember when I said these bags are durable, well I was not kidding, they are made out of Sail Cloth which makes them sand and water resistant, which is perfect for taking my tote anywhere I go. Since it is not really pool weather at the moment, I have been using my bag for the gym and the slopes (even my ski boots fit inside this bag!) but once it is pool season, I will be bringing my “Ditty” with me everywhere I go.

Hayden Reis bags also make great gifts! Especially since they come in four different sizes. Personally I love the “Ditty” it is the biggest one (the bigger the better right?). SPUN Scarf (c/o) / GAP New Tailored Chambray / J.Crew Pixie Pants (25% off using SHOPNOW) / Rag and Bone Classic Newbury Booties / DVF Clutch via TJ Maxx / Lulu Frost Necklace / Catbird Threadbare Rings / Daniel Wellington Watch / Ray Ban Caravan Sunglasses / Laura Mercier in Truly Red

Scarves are a girls best friend, or at least mine. In the Fall, it is the first accessory I put on not only I keep warm but to add a pop of color to my mostly neutral closet. There are a few staples that I wear on repeat in the Fall including my J.Crew Minie or Pixie Pants (I am loving the leather ones this season), a button down blouse and a pair of booties. Since I keep my uniform pretty standard for work and play, I always add a scarf to switch up this look. I recently came across SPUN by Subtle Luxury, an amazing brand based out of California. Guys, I am telling you their scarves are the best thing I have ever worn; I would say I am somewhat of a scarf snob. They have to be supersoft, not too bulky, but still keep you warm- this girl knows what she wants. The solid colors are ultra saturated so they pop and the printed ones are perfect for a neutral outfit. Even Jessica Alba was spotted in the Cobra print. I am seriously wanting to buy one in every color this season. Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on this amazing find because now is your chance to win your favorite new scarf for the season. You can pick any scard you’d like from this link . Good Luck, and Happy Shopping!

Ghosts, Black Cats,  Scary masks…let’s just say I try to avoid all of those scary things.  I am a total chicken when it comes to Halloween. Scary movies are especially out of the picture…seriously guys, nightmares for days! So instead of partaking in the a horror movie marathon, I will be handing out candy (hopefully not eating the entire bag before the kids come by) and watching a few of my favorite movies.

If you don’t want to throw on a pair of ears and call yourself a cat this Thursday, you can still be festive this year and really all year round.  That Zoe Karssen Sweatshirt is one of my favorite, and these Stubbs and Wootton Smoking Slippers are killer.  So I want to hear from you, are you a fan of Halloween or like to stay in like me?

Designer Grey Moto Jacket / Buffalo Check Flannel / Black Tights / Red Nailpolish / Designer Clutch via T.J. Maxx

Being from Arizona, I am a huge fan of warm temps, but there is nothing better than the leaves changing from shades of green, to yellow, orange and red. Another thing I love about the drop in temps is switching out my sun dresses for Fall layers. Since Fall weather can be alot like a yo-yo, wearing light layers is the perfect way to be prepared for unpredictable temperatures. Thankfully T.J. Maxx has it covered when it comes to Fall finds. I found this amazing designer moto jacket in the Contemporary section last week. It’s warm and soft like a sweatshirt, but structured and styled to work with almost every type of outfit. It has been on some major repeat.

Another way to add a little extra warmth to your outfit, while still looking chic is to layer a sweater and a flannel or blouse. You can even go really trendy and pair that blouse with a cropped sweater. The 90’s are totally back this Fall and I am a big fan. That could have something to do with my love for round shades, plaid, and a good little dose of Lisa Frank. I mean really who doesn’t love a good notebook. But back to the point…Fall layering. Black tights are the most important piece for transitioning your wardrobe into Fall. Last week when I was browsing T.J. Maxx, I found some amazing pairs of textured and designer brand pairs for half the price of other retailers. Not only are they flattering when paired with a skirt and boots, but they keep you warm too! Trust me, you will definitely want to check out the selection at your closet T.J. Maxx store. Another great find during my recent shopping trip was my favorite nail polish brand. I scooped up two colors with their catchy names like After School Boy Blazer and the tried and true Ballerina Slippers.

Layering jewelry is another big trend this season. I am normally always a gold girl, but I loved the silver zippers on this grey jacket, so I layered two dainty necklaces, some silver stacking rings and a statement ring to add a little color to my neutral outfit.

Thanks to Devon for the recommendation, I found some amazing Dry Shampoo while browsing the beauty isle last week. Can someone tell me why I have never used this stuff before? It is AH-MAZING, especially on the days I have an early 5am wake up call. Seriously it is going to become my new best friend.

I’d love to hear from ya’ll; what are your favorite key pieces when layering for Fall?

I think I have said it before, but Fall is my favorite season. Sweaters, boots and scarves are just about my three favorite things. I love being able to wear oversized sweaters and skinny jeans, but still look completely put together.  I suggest adding a red or berry lip to a casual outfit to pull the look all together. Another one of my favorite trends this Fall is leather bottoms with a flannel, add tights and booties with a skirt to dress up the look or pair converse with leather pants to dress the look down.  What are your favorite looks for Fall?

A few of my favorite purchases lately:

There is nothing better than enjoying a little R&R on vacation. Being able to uplug is always a hard task for me, I am constantly on my phone, even to a fault. My goal this past weekend was to be present and just shut my phone off for a few hours. When we arrived in Houston, it was rainy and chilly so I thought slipping into my bathing suit was going to be out of the picture.  I woke up early to sneak in a quick brunch at the cutest cafe, Tiny Boxwoods with Lauren. I am so grateful to have met some many wonderful friends through blogging.  We chatted about blog, jobs, life, and of course shopping. We probably could have sat there for hours!

The sun was shining, so we headed down to the pool for a little relaxation.  When I am at a hotel, I always like to wear a cover up and this Subtle Luxury embroidered tunic was the perfect piece to throw on to eat a late lunch by the pool. I am a big fan of long sleeve tunics, but they have to be lightweight and just the right length. This tunic is whisper thin cotton and all of the embroidery is handmade, which gives it a special touch and oh soo beautiful. I am still dreaming about being back at the pool, as it is supposed to snow this week in the Midwest.  If you are planning a trip to warmer temps this winter, be sure to check out Subtle Luxury’s entire collection here. I am OBSESSED with this one too.

Be on the lookout for a special giveaway next week, you will not want to miss it!

If you look into my closet, you will notice a lot of basics and lots of stripes. What my closet does lack is prints, whether it be graphic or floral I tend to be drawn to solid colors.   That is until as of late, I have been obsessed with mixing prints. For me, especially a girl who is living in the Midwest, this could be a “risky” choice. There are a few tricks of the trade I have learned over the years that make mixing prints easy as can be (even when it comes to interiors).  When deciding to mix prints, I suggest mixing a large print and a small print with similar colors throughout. If you are not quite as confident, try a neutral pallet to start.  Also, in most cases, I would wear a solid purse and heels and keep the jewelry simple to bring the outfit together.

I recently scored this cheetah designer clutch at T.J. Maxx and instantly fell in love. Since it is still neutral in color, I can mix it with just about anything.  It gave my LBD a bit of sass, and this outfit a little dimension. Where I normally would keep my bag neutral when mixing prints, this just seemed to work perfectly.

Camo is another huge trend for Fall. I have always been a fan probably my Texas roots (Thanks Mom!) Making sure the fit is just right; is everything (as Rachel Zoe always says). I love to pair a silk top with the casual pants to dress it them a bit and make sure they do not look “country”. I could not believe I found this designer top at T.J. Maxx, it was a major score for one of my favorite brands at just a fraction of the price that I normally would pay.  Let’s just say I have been wearing it on repeat all of last week.

On a gloomy, rainy day my favorite thing to wear is a cozy sweater and jeans.  Fall weather can be so tricky, one day it is freezing and the next it is 75 and sunny.  We planned to head to the apple orchard today, but of course the rain in the forecast got in the way.  Either way, I find every excuse to wear my rainboots.  Instead of apple picking and eating delicious cider donuts, I am going to attempt some new recipies in the kitchen (wish me luck!), and we will be watching lots of football. Happy Sunday!

Sometimes you just need a good pair of sweatpants. To be honest, I love getting dressed up for work but my ultimate favorite thing to is change into sweats the second I get home.  This Fall season, I feel like it is acceptable to wear “pj’s” in public, not like the people you see in the airport in oversized grey sweatpants and a hoodie, but the “casual, put together look.”  In the Fall there is nothing better than an oversized cashmere sweater. Add a pair of J.Crew weekend pants and a great bag and you are all set for running errands after work or all weekend long.

I have never been known to be a girly girl. I think I have tried to avoid colors like pink and purple because I look so young.  Most of the time people think I am a teenager, now=a=days I take it as a compliment.  While I may not own very many pink outfits, I love a good puckered shoulder or peplum top. Opposite to last week’s menswear post, this week is all about the girly girl (or at least my take on it).  I love a good leather bow, and feminine cut in emerald.  This Fall is all about the midi skirt- I may not be able to wear one on a daily basis but I love this one for a special event, or Holiday party.

Happy October, friends!

Today, I am over on sweet Gaby’s blog, THE VAULT FILES, talking about my favorite items and must haves in my closet.  Gaby was one of my first blogging friends, and she has been an inspiration to me along the way.
