MY CLEAN SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cuyana Travel Case with Clean Beauty Products

This post has been in the making for over a year now and I am so excited to share my morning and night skincare routine.  I made the switch to follow the 80/20 rule last March and have never looked back.

Are you familiar with the 80/20 rule? Lately, I have been reading articles from so many experts about the importance of removing chemicals and toxins from our daily life. If you are looking for a few good reads, Julia recently published a great article about her journey and Mind Body Green has so many great insights and tips! I still have a long way to go in my effort to be 100% clean, but beauty has definitely been a fun and important place to start.

So, lets start from the beginning.  I grew up in Scottsdale, spent most of my childhood outdoors in the sun.  While I was blessed with mostly clear, olive skin (thanks Mom and Dad), my lack of sunscreen through the years has taken a toll on my skin. Other than face wash and the occasional moisturizer, I only started my skincare regimen a little over a year ago. With my 30th birthday approaching quickly, I decided this year it was time to take it up a notch.

Without further ado, here is my routine:

ONCE A WEEK

I use this Resurfacing Mask once a week in the morning before I start my skincare routine. I have also been using this Doctor’s Scrub for extra exfoliation. Twice a week I use these PowerGlow Peel Pads. All three of these products leave my skin glowing and feeling fresh for the week.

CLEANSE

Tata Harper Regenerating Cleaner– It has been four years since I started using this cleanser. I have switched it up a few time, but always end up going back to my tried and true.  The gentle exfoliator is perfect for morning and night.

MIST

Herbivore Rose Face Mist– Okay, this step may be a little extra but I just love the cooling feeling of this mist.

SERUM

CE Ferulic Serum– I know this product is expensive, but I think it is worth every penny.  This antioxidant serum helps collagen production and have honestly changed my skin texture for the better.

Drunk Elephant Hydration Serum or M-61 Hyrdraboost Serum– My skin tends to be on the dry side, so adding this extra serum locks in the moisture for the entire day.

Vitamin C Serum– I always add a few drops of vitamin C serum on top to boost and brighten my skin.

MOISTURIZE

I have been switching between this one and this one depending on how dry my skin is on a given day.  I also love this one if I am headed to the gym in the morning.  It is so lightweight and doesn’t leave your skin looking shiny.

EYE CREAM

I typically only use eye cream at night, but my favorites are this Shaba Complex Eye Serum and this Tata Harper one.

OIL

Tata Harper Beautifying Face Oil is my go-to. It leave your skin glowing without feeling greasy.  Another recent favorite is Indie Lee Squalene Oil which is very affordable and I am a sucker for good branding.  ;) At night, I will use a heavier face oil like Tata Harper Nutrient Face Oil.

*Pro Tips: 1. allow each product to absorb before applying the next, 2. dab products into your skin with fingertips instead of rubbing, 3. layer the resurfacing mask on top of the regenerating cleanser and leave on for five minutes for a quick mini facial.

Clean Beauty Products

Drunk Elephant Skincare One Love Organics Beauty

I have tried a number of products in the last year and these ones are my tried and true that I use everyday––morning and night. The most important thing to note is consistency.  I suggest using a product for one to two months to allow your skin to adjust and to see the best results.  Feel free to leave me questions in the comments. I have really loved chatting with all of your about your favorite skincare products and routines this past year.

For all my wellness and skincare favorites, the Wellness Details page always has up-to-date products I have been loving and trying.
