SUMMER STRIPED SWEATER

If there is one thing that I was missing last summer on Nantucket, it was some casual summer sweaters. I brought my trusty Tippi’s with me, but I was lacking different styles and weights for cooler nights.  This year I came prepared and packed this striped one––which ended up being my most worn item, this Flag sweater and a navy and ivory cable knit cashmere for throwing over my shoulders.

Summer sweaters tend to be an overlooked item in my closet. It may have something to do with the fact that Dallas is 800º starting in May, but I end up wearing my winter sweaters more often than I would think (or in my case, everyday since Patrick likes to keep the house at a balmy 68º). All jokes aside, lightweight sweaters and cardigans have been my go-to lately. Paired with shorts or thrown over a dress, the third piece always creates a more polished look.

When searching for a good sweater, I have a few go-to brands for different price points.  Vince, Polo, and J.Crew are always winners, but I also love Madewell and  Halogen if I want to spend a little less. Honestly, I tend to spend a little more on sweaters because there is nothing worse than a sweater that pills after only a few wears.  If you have been following me for a little while now, you probably know that Vince is one of my go-to brands. This sweater is the perfect length for us petite gals, and is so cute paired with high-waisted cutoffs or white jeans.

Speaking of denim shorts, this new pair has been on constant repeat since they came in the mail last month. There is nothing I despise more than denim shorts that are tight around your legs.  This vintage style fits even better than my Levi’s––which you know, are my one true love ;) Roses in Nantucket Beautiful Home in Natucket

A FEW OTHER SUMMER SWEATERS

FYI, tomorrow is the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (for card holders only!) and it is honestly one of the best sales of the season.  If you are not familiar with the sale, Nordstrom marks down new Fall arrivals for a limited time. Last year (see my post here) there were over 70 pages of amazing products, and this year is no different.  I have been browsing the catalogue, so be sure to stop by tomorrow morning because I will be breaking down the top items I am purchasing for Fall, my must-have basics, and a few other categories that are worth shopping during the sale.
