Sankaty Lighthouse

Last year at this time I was headed to Surfside for my daily dip in the ocean with Mackenzie. This year I am hiding inside from the triple digit temps in Dallas. Anyone have a time machine?! All jokes aside, this past trip to Nantucket was just the spark I needed to fall back in love with my camera. I was so inspired by the fresh blooms, the water and colors that I ended up taking over a thousand photos in just a few short days.  Being behind the camera is something I truly love.

Oh, sweet summertime. I wish you would last forever.

There is nothing love more than building out my summer wardrobe. So, before heading to Nantucket I was introduced to a darling retailer, Halsbrook and to say I was obsessed would be an understatement. I ended up stocking up on so many classic pieces from some of my favorite brands.

There is nothing more I have loved than escaping the Dallas heat this summer. The idea of wearing jeans in July normally sounds dreadful, but in Nantucket, the temps drop at night and jeans and a top are ideal for dinner outside.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale officially starts this Friday and if you read this post, you know how many good Fall new arrivals are included in the sale.  This top is one of my favorite purchases I made! I am all about instant gratification and love that I can wear this throughout the rest of the summer with jeans, high-waisted shorts or a cute mini skirt.

We made it to the island after a short 30 hour drive. Patrick deserves a medal for driving over 28 hours straight! We are getting settled into our new temporary home with Mackenzie’s family and have had the BEST time in Nantucket so far.

Tuckernuck Leaf Top

There is something so charming about the island.  Maybe it is the rich history or the hydrangeas in full bloom, but whatever it may be I never wanted to leave. I was seriously considering sending for the dogs and moving into Mackenzie’s family home.  Mackenzie and her family were the best hosts, they showed us all of their favorite spots on the island, one of them being the ‘Sconset Bluff Walk.  If you are not familiar, the bluff walk is a little walking path through the backyards of some of the island’s oldest homes.  On one side is the ocean and the other side you have an unobstructed view of the beautiful homes.
